Absolutely love this place and I'm excited to come back once I am in San Diego again! Shawna is a very caring person and is very personable. She is very genuine and cares so much about her craft and the impact it has on others. I came in for a sound bath and reiki session. Both experiences were soothing and calming. I left feeling refreshed and with renewed energy! Booking for sessions is also very easy and I appreciate the painless process! read more

In response to your comment. The point I'm trying to make is you didn't have it posted anywhere on schedulacity or I wouldn't have made a yelp review. We received a flier and there was no cancellation policy on that, it just said to schedule on schedulacity. I called multiple times from Monday to Thursday to speak with someone to see what was going on. You basically robbed us of $50. We paid for the class and we wanted to make it up since we had already paid. I received no receipt with a with a cancellation policy at all. No receipt was actually generated to my email. This is literally from a year ago. It's just the point that I didn't want a refund but to simply go to your class. We didn't want to spread any possible sickness in your studio. Its the least you could've done since we paid $50. It's just the ethical thing to do. read more

Update after Shawnas reply: "part of the conversation", because I didn't post the part where I texted "I'm downstairs gate is locked"? This IS the conversation. I still have the thread. As shown in the screenshot, the address was NOT included in email confirmation and I don't know what "receipt" she is talking about if I scheduled online. Screenshots clearly show that I wanted to at least put the $25 towards a future class and she denied that. I NEVER got a phone call from Shawna, she stopped replying to my texts. So not only is she unprofessional, she's a liar, that's cool. As seen in screenshots, I didn't look for a sign because I had been to that location before and didn't need to look for where it was exactly, I was concerned about being late and not getting upstairs. And the font size 6 doesn't look that small on my phone, I tried explaining that. I found the number when I thought I was locked out and didn't compare the address when all I did was tap "call" on Google *eye roll*. And saying she wanted to work with me is another lie; immediately denied putting my money towards another class, never showed any inkling of wanting to make things right. This woman is unbelievable, in a negative way. read more

I try and attend every yoga for relaxation and stretching class with Shawna that I can possibly get to. The difference I can feel in my health and well being is huge! I feel like I've come from a massage after attending class- yet I have a much longer lived massage feeling and this is so much cheaper! There are classes for all sorts of yoga styles and activities. I feel very lucky to be able to attend them regularly. If you are in the area and want to pamper yourself or just need to stretch and relax, definitely come by the studio for a class. It is a welcoming environment that feels like a safe space. read more

Excellent yoga studio hidden down in IB. Shawna is amazing, but I also really liked Meg's and Ariana's classes. The candlelight yoga on weekday evenings is INCREDIBLE. I sleep so well on the nights I attend these. Love it! Highly recommend. Worth driving in from Coronado. read more

Yoga with Shawna is a jewel in Imperial Beach. I take advantage of the affordable monthly membership attending multiple yoga classes including Yin and Power Yoga, sound healing and meditation sessions. On a good day I attend more than one event. I attended my first candlelight yoga class last night and it was wonderful. Shawna and her instructors are clear with their instructions during class and the uplifting messages are inspiring. Breath work and use of essential oils is also great. The studio is spacious, clean and well ventilated. read more

I am a charter member of yoga with Shawna. I have followed Shawna from her original location to outdoor yoga during COVID, and on to her current location. During that time, I have enjoyed the studio's commitment to the practice of yoga. They also offer reiki and instructor training in multiple styles of yoga. They offer a wide variety of apparel and yoga accessories including books, crystals, and essential oils. As an older practitioner, I appreciate the variety of classes that they offer, from the long, deep poses of Yin yoga to vigorous, energetic Vinyasa flows. I also like the fact that I feel like a family member when I practice there. I have practiced at dozens of different yoga studios and Yoga With Shawna gets my highest recommendation. read more

Yoga with Shawna is so much more than a yoga studio. The studio has become my favorite place of self-care & community. I have met so many life-long friends, and grown both physically & spiritually. Shawna provides a loving space, full of learning & self care! I have never done yoga before connecting w/Shawna. The practice has become an important part of my life. This is fantastic studio that is great for beginners or people who are looking to find peace and healing. Classes are always intentional and usually begin with a card for guidance and essential oil to help you focus on your own personal intention at practice. They offer a variety of classes: power yoga, yoga, peace and relaxation, 30 min on the go lunch time yoga and candlelight yoga (my new favorite). Music always sets the the tone for our practice in a studio that truly embodies all things yoga! Lots of wood, incense, plants. It is a mixture of raw materials and texture which creates a natural space to work on your practice. They also offer community enrichment classes like sound healing and reiki. I am waiting for a liver transplant and joined a few months ago to help me build some strength before my surgery and I am so happy I made the choice to go for it! I have taken yoga at community colleges and large gyms and I wasn't sure about joining all the "exclusive yogis" but I am thrilled that I did! She offers a special community where you can remain anonymous or make friends. Shawna and the other teachers inspire us to work on OURSELVES-breath work (should be taught to everyone for self control and anxiety), stretching, sound healing, mediation and endurance are all things you will find at YOGA by Shawna :) read more

This little studio saved my life in 2019/2020. I started attending the outdoor beach classes that were offered at the time in Imperial Beach. It was a time in my life when I felt despondent and broken and was in desperate need for a new beginning. From the first class I took with Shawna, I instantly felt a part of a community and able to be my authentic self. The classes are accessible for beginners, as well as engaging for long time practicing yogis. You can attend yoga classes anywhere, but what is special about Shawna is the meaningful, genuine, and relatable insight she provides in her classes. Even if you don't attend yoga for spiritual nourishment, you will leave feeling better than you arrived. Fast forward to now-- she has cultivated a remarkably comfortable and inviting new studio space filled with plants, wellness offerings, and retail for the conscious minded. It's apparent that her vision is community oriented, as we desperately need a healing center like this in IB. read more

I've tried yoga in the past, but have felt intimidated at other studios. That's not true here. From the first day I felt welcomed and at home. Love this yoga studio! We have needed something awesome like this in IB for a while. They offer monthly membership at a super reasonable price for unlimited yoga, and reiki sessions at a good deal too! Amazing healers here. They also offer classes for yoga certification. I adore the plant of the week/month, they highlight a diff plant and its healing properties, and offer you a spritz during your treatment or class if you would like. You can feel the ocean breeze blowing thru the studio sometimes. They also host the yoga on the beach weekend festival every year, which I enjoyed immensely. Def recommend. Shawna, Jeannie, and Kat are amazing teachers and healers, among many others. read more

I've been "flirting" with yoga for decades. This is the first place I've been that I keep wanting to go back to. So far, I've loved every class (having been to about 13 so far over about as many weeks). Shawna is very much present although she doesn't teach every class, allowing for different styles of teaching to be available. She (and the other instructors) cultivate an accepting, inviting and supportive culture that make it easy to come back to. I'm so happy to have found a yoga studio home! read more

The Yoga with Shawna Studio is a gem of serenity and sanity in the midst of the chaos of everyday life in the San Diego area. I've attended classes here and previously on the grasses at Imperial Beach for the past two years and have enjoyed the variety of Yoga class offerings. There's Yoga for Strength, Flexibility, Meditation, Power, Sweat, Yin and Peace and Relaxation. Shawna is my favorite, but all of her personally trained instructors are excellent. There are Sound Healings and Reiki Sessions. Shawna also offers Yoga Retreats in the Desert...which I recently attended. If you are looking for a magical experience, this is not to be missed. With the peacefulness of the grounds, the gathering of other like-minded retreaters, the yoga classes, star-gazing, and an unforgettable trip to Joshua Tree National Park nearby, you will come away a changed human being. read more

I've had nothing but great experiences at Yoga by Shawna. Classes are on time, staff are friendly and yoga teachers are knowledgeable and encouraging. I feel very comfortable at class even though I'm not very flexible, everyone can what is right for their bodies without pressure on the rest of the class. Each class I've attended is usually a mix of beginners and a few people with a little more experience. Go on in, leave your shoes by the door and put your mat in a spot where you will be comfortable. You won't be sorry and guess what, sleep comes so much easier once you have stretched and relaxed. read more

I'm 74, and looking for a healthy way to keep on, keeping on, when I found this AMAZING studio! Since I have been going I have gained rang of motion in both my arms and legs, getting up and down off the floor......NO PROBLEM at all and I feel better than I have in years.! It has changed my life and I have made some wonderful new friends along the way too! Shawna and all the teachers are so wonderful and will help you every step of the way. Yesterday went to the morning session and the instructor comes running in right at 9 saying she's sick and running fever over 100. She was coughing the whole time. Why would she show up and spread the flu like that. Yoga is supposed to be calmiing but it was not having to listen to all the coughing and worrying if would get sick. Not a reflection of the busIness overall but of this person. PLease call in sick if you have the flu. read more

I took my Yoga Teacher Training with Shawna Schenk in May of 2015. It was a wonderful experience... I met some amazing people and learned a lot about myself and yoga both on and off the map! I recently moved to San Diego from Canada and have always wanted to take a yoga teacher training but the timing never seemed right...I learned about the training at the free beach classes on Mission Beach and connected with Shawna. I attended her class at Tripower yoga in OB and she immediately had me convinced that this was the time! Learning about so many cool things while sitting on the sand is an experience that cannot be passed up! The training involves hiking , snorkeling with seals, organic farming and so much more! Shawna remains supportive of my career as a teacher and I am grateful for her presence in my life! read more
