I've only begun going to this studio- i'm very new to Yoga, though I know it's something that is very good for my body- but so far I've been very impressed with Kula Yoga. They are very nice people- wonderfully patient instructors. Eddie is laid back in demeanor, played reggae music at my first session, but lead us through a demanding and fun workout. Nati and Paulina strike me as maybe more traditional instructors- both leading a workout that was spiritual as well as physically demanding- Nati ends the sessions with a sound bath that is wonderful after the effort. I appreciate all 3 instructors. The studio is the perfect size, has mats and everything necessary for a beginning student (a yogi?). I already committed to going there for the next 3 months- something I hadn't been inspired to do at the other two studios I sampled. This has quickly become my favorite place to do yoga in San Diego. It is a beautiful small studio in the heart of downtown Chula Vista. The classes are vinyasa flow and each teacher (Eddie, Paulina, and Sonia) is excellent and knowledgeable. They each bring their own unique style to each class and no two classes are ever the same. They offer encouragement and alignment, which is much appreciated by this beginner yogi. The classes are small so you really feel like you are getting the right amount of attention and the most out of each class. The music they choose to accompany each class puts you in the zone and has become one of my favorite reasons to show up to class. Other favorite reasons are that I leave class each time feeling energized and npt to mention zen-like. The prices are reasonable starting with a 20$ for two consecutive weeks introductory offer. They also offer different packages at very reasonable rates to continue. You really feel like you are part of a community when you come to Kula Yoga. Everyone is welcoming and engaging. And I can't forget to mention special events at the studio such as live music yoga and art shows. All in all, I will be happily making Kula Yoga my go to studio to practice. read more

A bit hard to find at first -- entrance is in the BACK of the building, OR you can enter through the fruteria facing 3rd Ave and head to the back towards the bathrooms to access that entrance. I took a 90 minute 'Weekends Warrior/ Vinyasa Flow' class on a Saturday with Eddie. Tight room and a popular class, so it was filled to capacity. The 90 minutes went by in PURE focus since the moves and holds required such concentration. I may look strong, but I am by no means flexible nor am I a yogi, so these moves were causing me to sweat and shake like no other! Eddie was gentle in his corrections and came around CONSTANTLY to correct form. LOVE the kind of sweat that yoga produces -- your skin just feels so cleansed! It goes without saying that you should bring your own mat and even your own accessories if you so desire because it did not seem like they had extras. If you are seeking a challenge then you will find it here! And a good community as well; Eddie made sure to let me know about all their community events and it seemed like such a tight knit community. If I were in Chula Vista more and not always out and about, I would have felt right at home. read more

Waited to post to experience each instructor and each class offered. -The location: Off a busy street so parking isn't that great. We usually get there right before the meters stop running so that we don't have to pay. If we attend an earlier class we park at the garage behind 24 hour. We saw the sign right away but didn't notice the sign where it clearly states you have to walk thru the fruit cantina to get to the studio. -The studio: Humble Beginnings Opened up March this year and I believe soon they will need a larger studio. It is small but inviting. They provide mats and have cubby holes to place your belongings. Because it is right next to the Fruit Cantina, the music played can be heard thru the thin walls but not at all a problem when you're in your zone. -The instructors: They each bring something different to each class. They are all helpful and walk you thru each pose if needed. No one there is judgemental and they all seem to want to help. Which is great when you're recovering from a back surgery like myself. I walk out each class sweating but so relaxed. I have invited friends who are new to Yoga and have also liked the experience and continue to come. Oh and a must!! The candle lit relaxation class on Fridays!! Get there early! Space runs out quick for that class. -The Price: AFFORDABLE!!! My partner and I payed $20/each for 2 weeks and just recently paid $60/each for 30 days unlimited classes. I LOVE yoga, and I LOVE Kula! I have practiced off and on for many years at a wide variety of places. When I have been on a "break" from yoga, usually it's because it doesn't fit into my budget or schedule. Kula has reasonable prices and is basically in my backyard... parking is never an issue. The only time it is, is when I end up staying to long after class chatting and my meter expires! The studio is so welcoming you instantly feel like you belong. Class sizes are small so you get individual instruction which also makes it the perfect studio for any level. The instructors at Kula are what make it special. They are encouraging and knowledgeable... you never feel intimidated or out of place. I've driven by this studio numerous times. I finally got courage to go and WOW was I blown away! I signed up for the 2 weeks for 20 (best deal around) and I've gone about 7 times already. It's a very clean studio with very cool art on the wall. The vibe is definitely yogi! I took the owners class Eddie and he's the best. Great teacher, clear instructions, gentle corrections and whether you're a beginner or expert this class is for you. My mom and I began going to Kula yoga for about 2 months now (daily if I may add) and it's incredible to see how much we have grow in flexibility, strength, awareness, and stillness of ones mind. It's the kind of place where the staff remembers your name and no matter how inflexible you may be during poses, they always encourage and offer support.
