I first took the yoga sculpt (not heated) class and got a great workout. They offer an essential oil disinfectant spray for your mats. One thing that makes this place different is their humidifier in the room. It's massive and makes a huge difference so I'm excited to get a hot class in soon. Tip: make sure to bring your own towel to clean your mat since they're eco-friendly and don't have disposable towels. They accept classpass but they're doing a special for Black Friday 11/28-30. Parking- there's street parking out front and thankfully I found a spot up the street.

Chula Vista Yoga Center had classes that fit well for my schedule while I was in town, so I called it my home studio for the weekend. Signing up for the classes and checking in were a breeze. The studio was gorgeous, and I loved the inspiring wall murals and paintings inside the space. If I was local, I would certainly attend the monthly offerings including workshops, sound healing events, etc. I enjoyed the two classes I was able to take. Both classes were heated, and the teachers were awesome. For my first class I took Andre's Ashtanga class on Thursday at 10:30am. I used to practice Ashtanga regularly, so taking the class was like riding a bike. Andre modified the primary sequence, so I thought it was very accessible to yogis of all levels. The other class I was able to take over the weekend was Jackie's vinyasa flow at 8am on Saturday. She had such a creative, challenging flow and introduced an asana I've never done before. Lastly, customer service was excellent. The two front desk receptionist who assisted me on both days were very friendly and helpful.

For years, I used to go get full body massages every other week because my muscles in my neck and shoulder areas were so tight from my occupation as a dentist. I urge you to try sitting down and working on upper back molars on patients who have limited opening of the mouth. Anyway, I digress. It was actually my massage therapist who told me to try hot yoga because she couldn't believe how stiff and tight I was. So I went to my first class in July 2008. I was hooked. The first day I drove home with my legs shaking and still sweating profusely but I never felt more refreshed. The yoga is the same 26/2 postures each time, yet it's not boring and it's always different depending on your body.My best friend from high school who has been doing private Pilates lessons for 20 years tried this yoga and said that she understood why I was so hooked and how it was a challenging exercise. I have a 3 year old grandson now and I want to be active and crawl around on the floor and keep up with him and I credit this yoga for allowing me to do so. I don't feel old and this yoga is the reason why! I even have my hyperactive, mountain biking, surfing and golfing retired husband doing this with me twice a week and he says it helps him with all his sports. Not one Classic class is the same. Even if they seem to be or are, the experience every time is different depending on your energy/strength for the day. I like that I am seeing Empower and Reform classes on weekdays in the evening rather than mid morning weekdays since work or school in-person for some has resumed. People who attend the classes are kind and I like to check others in class from time to time to make sure I am doing the same thing as them or look over for reference if it is unclear to me. The instructor might sometimes come to me if I look confused haha (thanks! Haha). Always get a good feel good workout from any class I take at Pure Barre. Side note: Only thing I'd say that doesn't have to do with the this studio, but rather the company, is that I wish the app shared more details on the class in how many spots are left or where you'd be on the waitlist if there is already one before deciding to join the waitlist. Thankfully we arrived early to one location and the toll road got us to the correct location in 6 min right at the start of class. We got lucky with parking up front but it's shared with a bunch of other businesses so always leave yourself with enough time. Jasmine was our instructor for the yin yoga class. She explained which items to grab for the session and made room for us. Both me and my husband felt super relaxed during and after the class. It's the perfect relaxation for the mind and body after a long day of work. She ended the session with a sound bowl that was nice. Definitely recommend this class and location especially since they offer it through classpass Next time, I'm going to try one of their loud boot camp type classes that was happening across the hallway.
