The space also has a bit of a giant "living room" or "home studio" vibe because of the sitting area which was staged in front of the studio's largest windows. Allison (the owner) mentioned she was aiming for this "home-like" vibe during one of her classes, and I think she completely nailed it. Sometimes when I attend a studio out of town, I feel like an outsider. But I felt like a member of the tribe right away at Homegrown which was wonderful. I also was happy to see men and women of all different colors, shapes, and practice levels in the studio. It truly felt like a judgement free zone. As far as the classes I attended, to me they were reminiscent of Baptiste style classes. This was a bit of a challenge for me because I ordinarily practice vinyasa or Ashtanga. But as I practiced, I noticed that I had a little extra time to explore some postures further and to modify which isn't always the case in vinyasa. I think the classes I attended at Homegrown would suit just about every level. If you are looking for a great place to begin or further your practice, Homegrown is that place. Thank you for welcoming me and I hope to visit again soon.

Yurie was very kind, introducing herself and explaining the class to us before staring. She offered modifications throughout the class and as a first timer we followed well + felt comfortable. We received a follow up after about signing up for classes regularly but I explained we couldn't due to our schedules/distance and this was kindly responded to/respected which we appreciated too! Would definitely do another pop in/if my distance to the studio changes I'd definitely go regularly. The studio was clean and parking was easy too.

I logged into my account and realized that my previous class package was grandfathered in and I still had classes to use! Since I don't like to waste things, I've decided to use them up at this location since it's closer to home. I'm a big fan of their Hot Power Fusion (think low intensity poses in 100+ degree heat and high humidity) and Yoga Sculpt classes (high intensity yoga mixed with strength training and weights). Most instructors have been great at cueing and some playlists are better than others but either way, I'm getting a good workout in so I can't complain too much. They also offer C1 which is a beginner/intro to yoga class as well as C2 which is an intermediate to advanced yoga class (think inversions and more fast paced flows!). You can pre-book your class through their app or online to guarantee your spot. However, I would recommend coming into the studio at least 10-15 minutes beforehand because depending on what class it is, it can get pretty packed and you want ample time to setup your space and get a good spot. They have mats for rental as well as boxed water for purchase in case you forget your water. Although I've learned how to workout independently, I do miss the sense of community in a live class as well! This location is in Fairfax Corner near the Potbelly. You'll have to enter through the double doors and go upstairs to the studio.

Bring a towel because you'll definitely sweat! I also like CorePower Strength X (CSX), a 45-minute strength training class with cardio and circuits. It's quick, effective, and leaves me feeling sore in the best way. Parking is easy in the mornings, with two-hour spots nearby and plenty of spaces by the movie theater.

I was surprised to hear it had been around for 12 years! I don't know how I didn't know about it before today. I actually found it through a free trial of ClassPass. I liked how many different time slots the offer. This summer, my daughter ins in camp, so I have little chunks of free time that never seem to work out with most studios. This one had an 11 AM class (in addition to lots of other morning and evening options as well!) Sign me up, I said! The vibe was down to earth and welcoming from the start. It's in an adorable old building and up a flight of stairs with a mural of a tree to your left. There's a ton of natural light in the studio, almost as if you're in a treehouse. The owner, Paula, introduced herself to me and struck up an authentic conversation. She also introduced me to the teacher, Emily. Emily was great--her pace was just right for me as a person who hasn't practiced in a while. She also had a camera going as they're offering Zoom classes as well. Later I heard they also did outdoor classes throughout the pandemic as well as prenatal and postnatal classes. I wish I'd found them sooner!

Luckily, he was flexible and let me come at the end of March. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by Isaac, who was extremely friendly and informative. We went through the entire walk through, and on my 2nd visit, he went over the prices. The only thing I didn't like is that they take down all the information from our Driver's License even if it's just a trial. Since this is considered a boutique gym, the classes are the main focus and driver for memberships. They get crazy busy and packed, but are only held at certain times of the day..and not Friday evenings. The classes include (but with different names): yoga, boxing, cycling and CS4. I was only able take one class--Ride with Lauren--and WOW it was fun and vibrant! I came back another day for leg day to try out the equipment. I was very fascinated by the TechnoGym equipment--beautiful, unique machines and all in pristine condition. There were SO MANY options for upper, lower, cardio, etc. Additionally, there is a separate cross fit area, where they hold classes and it is open to members. There is a recovery section, which includes compression sleeves, cryotherapy and massage chairs, which are convenient but I believe separate from the monthly gym membership. Also, there is a spa, whcih is definitely 3rd party and not included in the monthly membership. There is 2 hour parking available in the garage, which is validated at the front desk.

Also, bending and stretching my body in to multiple scary looking poses was not my idea of relaxing/workout/finding my inner self/ etc. But having been learned and practiced yoga with Gaurav has completely changed that for me. He is the epitome of what a true yoga instructor/guru should be. He help me confront my prejudices/ fears of yoga with a calm and balanced approach by gently introducing me to the various poses and breathing techniques! He was aware of my limitations and worked with that so that I gradually became comfortable with all the breathing exercises and asanas without heading to the door! Not to say that I did not feel the physical pains of using my body and muscle groups in new ways, but the "high" at the end of each session was worth the effort. I looked forward to my next session at the end of each session! Gaurav is well versed in all the techniques and shares his knowledge in easy to follow steps. I highly recommend him as an instructor especially if you have never done yoga before or are not sure on what the correct techniques are. I have been trying out different spas in the past couple of years to find the right masseuse and…read moretoday I found Bethann. Bethann is a wonderful masseuse and the owner of Brennan Wellness along side her husband who is also here at the office. She practices yoga which she can customizes into a massage, Reiki and all types of massages customized for you. There is also an acupuncturist here, which I'm interested in trying. Brennan Wellness is tucked away away off of Sunrise Valley Drive, behind the Access National Bank building in the South Lakes area. Its about a mile away from the toll road. When you walk in, theres a waiting area and although the lights aren't dimmed, you feel relaxed. Theres no desk or receptionist area so maybe thats why it feels just like a home like you are walking into a living room. Bethann is very sweet, she listens very well and asks a lot of questions to make sure shes going to be massaging all the right places. She wants to know what you've been doing, daily routines like if you sit at work a lot or if you do any activities that can be related to why your back may be hurting etc. Most massage places that I've been to don't ask many questions they just want to know what areas you want to work on. But Bethann genuinely cares and wants to know so she can pull out some tips and tricks to find patterns of knots or kinks in your body that she can work on. I loved that! As for the massage, she told me beforehand she likes to do medium to firm, which is what I prefer. I had a ton of knots because I heard all of them as she massaged them out and as much as it was painful it was worth it because I feel so much better. She was massaging in parts of my back and shoulders that I didn't even know had a lot of kinks but she took care of them! The music wasn't too loud but it wasn't too soft where I can hear myself breathing. Shes very focused and compared to other massage spas, they just do a lot of the same moves and they are done. She looks for something in the same area that can be a contributing factor or can be related to why you may be in pain. The most embarrassing part was that I fell asleep at the end and I'm pretty she knew it because she woke me and I was like huh? Whats going on? Ha! Its not even that I was tired, I just felt serene and so relaxed. She had hands of an angel! I signed up for a special that they had going on right after I was done for 10 sessions and even told her I'm bringing my dad the next Saturday she had an opening. She was booked for a few Saturdays from now but I understand why and shes the only practitioner here who does massages. Massage prices are reasonable nonetheless and well worth it. You feel 100x better after, so much better than any other spa I've been to even when I've paid double the price. You get a real custom massage to benefit your body and wellness. I absolutely love this place and will be returning for many years to come, as well as recommending Bethann for her wonderful massages.
