Yoga Source has been an important part of my life and wellness. Their teachers are exceptional. I studied with Amy for 10+ years. When an injury prevented me from continuing, she guided me to another teacher at the studio, Shawn where her mayo fascial class did more to repair my injuries than a year of physical therapy. It also gave me new hope for what was going to be possible for me in the future, including not needing a surgery. Every time I go here any one of the teachers asks the students to get involved with things like chairs and items that are like dog toys the entire class. If is not yoga what they are doing. Last time I went there the place was filthy and a dirty tissue was on the floor of the studio. There's something spooky about this place which includes the fake tone of some of the dog toy yoga teachers. Am done. read more

I'm a yogi and a yoga teacher. Yoga Source stands out by actually instructing yoga rather than guiding it. If you wish to learn from qualified teachers from disciplines such as Ashtanga and Iyengar your in the right place. That said I also had a bad experience with ann odd teacher there who demanded that I do asana her way and did not respect my need to modify my practice For my own body and health. They have a great new customer offer that is worth taking advantage of, 5 classes for $25. I advise against classes with Lily. Amy is fabulous!! read more

I have a hard time believing some of these reviews!! Yoga Source is an excellent place to study yoga! It is NOT full of young people... I'm usually by far the youngest in the room. I'm 28. The first time I came into the class, there were so many experienced looking people, that I went to re-check the sign in sheet to make sure I was in the right class. There's no pretension. It's simply about practicing yoga and all its philosophies. Nothing is pushed down your throat... There's no pill to swallow. They take what they do seriously without an agenda... The philosophy is there if you want to learn, and I do. I haven't once felt out of place or uncomfortable. The teachers are all masters at what they do. I just moved here from Chicago and didn't know what to expect, but WOW... I'm into it! I'm really enjoying my time here! Keep it up Yoga Source!! read more

This place and the yoga classes are not worth the price of admission. Admission is a RIP off. The studio is over rated and honestly the staff are clueless. I'm pretty sure half of the teaching staff have received a teacher certificate from some local dump that promotes raja and has no real yoga substance. Sorry, but Santa fe is not the mecca of yoga source anything. You can't make this stuff up. Santa fe is not expensive. How can this studio charge $150 a month for unlimited yoga when the classes aren't amazing? Ok, yea. But not amazing. The studio is below average. Please clean your floors right. hire some professionals that have actual yoga experience. Not someone that got certified by your personal staff yoga training. Good heavens. P.s. This yoga experience went from bad to worse! First the instructor Timo was 15 minutes late to class. When he arrived he didn't engage with all the waiting people outside. Just opened the door & went in. We all looked at each other wondering if we should enter? Upon entering he still said nothing. We entered the studio while he stood up in front changing into his yoga wear which was strange. This was my first class at Yoga Source. He never said get a block, get a blanket, or even said hello before the class started...late! Instead just expected you to know? He just began with no clear instruction a hello or a welcome or asked if anyone was new? He's teaching technique went against everything I have learned while practicing over the past 3 years. He was literally a bully. For one he pointed out that he didn't like my breath. He didn't like the tone he didn't like the depth, he didn't like the way I was breathing at all! I thought this was a little strange. I understand that I may not be the most advanced yogi but I am breathing, I am present! He continued to bully me & three other girls the entire class. We weren't flexible enough for him. We couldn't go into poses just like he did? Which I find so bizarre. People are all built different. Yoga is non-competitive or at least I thought? Even though this class was cut short I couldn't stop looking at the clock just wanting it to be over... Even while laying in corpse pose I guess my eyes were not closed enough for him, even completely closed? He came over & picked up my towel & covered my face with it? So so strange? Why? I would never ever recommend this class to anyone... read more

Yes readers, you'll want to check out Yogasource the next time you're in town, or nearby, or just plain-old needing a guided shivasana. There's nothing flashy about classy, reliable Yogasource, where the instructors really do care about yoga..and you. There are water features outside, good floors and decent heat/AC, and an occasional cat that comes to the window and looks in at you. Good vibes. Don't worry, the cat doesn't actually come inside, although I wouldn't mind if they'd let it. Indeed, Yogasource is precious because it's a place of serenity in an otherwise hyper-connected world. And, there's nice (pricey) stuff to buy at front - tops, pants, mats, etc. Don't interpret the staff's coolness as unkindness. Lastly, I suggest checking the schedule online right before you leave the house - sometimes instructors change at the super last minute, which may or may not be what you desire. I've taken classes at Yoga Source since 2003, and it just keeps getting better and better. The teachers are outstanding, the studios beautiful and peaceful, with an incredible array of offerings for all levels. I've become enchanted with the Chant class series, which are supremely healing for the brain and nervous system. The more I learn, the more I want to learn! And I have been deeply appreciating and committed to the Ropes and Chairs class, building strength safely using props and own body weight. (That is not a "restorative" class, but it sure is fun!) Yoga Source attracts wonderful and dedicated people - I have always felt "Home" there. read more

If what you are looking is to build your bodily awareness and a sustainable and strong practice, yogasource is the best studio I have ever been to. If what you are looking for is mostly just a workout, you might find that another studio is a better fit for your needs. before I came to yogasource, I found that yoga was making my joints unstable and injury prone. After six years of practicing here, i have never once left a class with an injury I did not have upon walking in. I am extremely grateful to yogasource for helping me to build awareness so that I can have a very strong and regular practice without any fear of hurting myself. I wish I could say the same of more competitive and punishing classes I've been to in other places. read more

Dropped in for a morning vinyasa class. Very beautiful zen courtyard with water and boulders greeting clients. Gentle instructor Amy was patient, calm and really clearly explained the movements and poses. Some new moves for me and some good challenges to enhance my own personal practice. I have practiced yoga for over ten years and have studied with a variety of teachers. YogaSource has a skilled group of teachers who are also avid practitioners. There is a variety of teacher styles and personalities, so it is easy to find a good fit depending on your own skill level and personal style . They have and use props well making almost all sessions approachable depending on your level. It has a wide range of regular participants so students fit in no matter what your age and ability. Teachers are very warm and caring. They always ask newcomers if they have any body issues and will fine tune poses to assist you if you need it. It is not a competitive environment -- they encourage you to listen to your own body and practice accordingly. YogaSource is really an asset to living in Santa Fe and a great place to stop in for yogis looking for a welcoming studio when visiting. read more

They printed up nice fancy schedules that don't even provide the adresses of their two locations. I went to one class and there were so many "props" involved that we spent half our time getting them, setting up for each position and putting them all away. I think that's a bit much, why so many props? There are plenty of excercises without doing all that extra time consuming stuff. Keep it simple! In the entry area, there is not enough space to remove your shoes/put them back on when you finish. Nice wood floors, but not enough windows, the location by the RR tracks is VERY difficult to find...especially after dark. read more

Nutshell recommendation: If you want more individualized attention, and mellow atmosphere that's just yoga, go here. If you want more of a social scene and other extras, go to Body. They both have great instructors. The other reviewers reflected on their one or two or 3 visits to this studio. I started my yoga practice 2 years ago out of curiosity and on a whim. I checked out a few studios and teachers. I had the preconception that the studio was snotty and pretentious because they have always had beautiful studios in great locations. I was happily wrong! The studios are even more beautiful and green than 5-star yoga resorts i've been lucky to go to. I have yet to find a studio in southern Marin to match this one. In fact, i go to Piedmont Yoga in Oakland when I really start missing Yogasource--which is often! I owe my interest in yoga and loving kindness to the staff and practitioners at Yogasource. I regularly attended classes here--i usually bought the 3-month unlimited b/c i went more than 3x/week I also went to alot of workshops (workshops w/ great visiting teachers) and nobody ever gave me anything but positive encouragement in pursuing my interest. Admittedly, I moved to southern marin 6 months ago and never took a class from Timo. But for me my top 3 instructors (partly due to schedule) were Linda, Amy and Wendy. Tons of people loved Foster, Ja Soon, Melissa, Olga, Chrissy, and of course Surya and Tias Little--the original founders of the studio. Everyone on staff is very nice. Sunday night Pranayama w/ Wendy is a steal! Usually only a few people would show up. (I am not sure if this class still exists.) Amy loves to work on core asanas. That would be great for CA yogis, it seems that there is more interest here in core work yoga. Their little yoga shop. I figured out why they always had a good selection. One of the staff's relatives works at Prana's offices and seems to get the insider's scoop on what will sell well. So I learned to just get the new stuff for me and my husband when they showed up before they were sold out everywhere. They also sell Tonic, which is hard to find in the U.S. This is not a Vinyasa studio-- they have vinyasa classes. I think of it more as eight-limbed yoga or "whole yoga.". So expect chanting, reference to the Sutras, pranayama, partner yoga, etc in a regular hatha class. Also, if the instructors tell you to get up close and watch a demo-they arent kidding. Get up really close. Part of this is due to the fact that there are usually instructors or would-be instructors in the class. Thats another sign of the quality of the instruction, i think. (another reason why I like Piedmont Yoga). The classes are smaller so for the same price as Body in SFe you get more personalized attention. There are alot of long-time practitioners who go here. Dont get intimidated--they are friendly. Lots of parking. Tons of cute yoga clothes. Good restaurants and coffeeshops are w/in walking distance or 5-munute drive. For the tourist yogi, there are some off-Canyon road galleries on Second St and Pacheco. read more

Clean, friendly, good facilities, well-equipped, and a variety of classes offered all day so you can find the one that's right for you. I share your opinion of some of these reviews. This is the most unpretentious pleasant experiences you will have. Everyone extremely nice and accommodating. It is Far...FAR...FAR...from young. The classes we have been in are all varied, very kind and patient instructors, and every class is full of mostly older people...including me. Maybe it's because of gentle yoga and those classes are easier. But if you feel like getting healthy, this is a great atmosphere to do it in. I've been to other places here, that are big studios and retail. This to me is the real deal. I like it. read more

I attend the classes at Yoga Source every time I come to Santa Fe. The last two visits I have had the great good luck to attend Foster's class. OK, so the place isn't warm and fuzzy although the receptionist today was very pleasant and helpful. I would say the staff overall seems very professional and knowledgeable. And as someone who suffers from chronic arthritic pain what I want is someone who knows anatomy and challenges me without putting me in a posture that will hurt me. I so much enjoy Foster's class and his depth of knowledge. I always learn something new about postures that I know, and learn a few new ones as well. While vacationing in Santa Fe, I decided to take a yoga class. And I sure found the right studio. At home in Yorba Linda I'm spoiled at Full Circle Yoga with its smallish classes, personal attention, and peaceful sweet and friendly vibe. Yoga Source offers the same with its well rounded approach. I want more than just a vinyasa flow, I like the whole yoga experience. I took a Sunday morning class with Cynthia, Iyengar style with a great backbend sequence. After driving and traveling for a week, it felt so good. I want to move to Santa Fe so I can come to Yoga Source! I even love its funky location. But I'm lucky I get to go home to Full Circle too. read more

Yoga Source is my new favorite studio! I love the ambience- it's beautiful, clean and peaceful. It's staff are thoughtful and friendly, and make you feel welcome as a new student! I really enjoyed Melissa's all level vinyasa class. Her instruction was well paced, insightful and expanding. I appreciated optional modifications, such as use of strap for some more challenging standing poses. Each teacher at Yoga Source is superbly trained and excellent at conveying that knowledge to every yoga practitioner, especially helping you work toward more advanced poses. Olga, Wendalin, Ja Soon, Amy, and Surya are my favorite instructors and I always feel lucky to attend their classes. Sunday morning classes when Tias is teaching is like going to a different kind of church -sharing your practice with others and taking time to heal. I visited yoga source while visiting Santa Fe. I come to SF once a year and go there as often as I can. I am 64, practice yoga regularly and have done so in many cities, this is the real deal. All the teachers are very knowledgeable, high level of expertise and they teach multiple styles. I am not a heated yoga fan and they don't do that. The cueing and hands on adjustments are very targeted and helpful. Give them a try. read more

We went to Yoga Source today while just traveling through town. We went to the new studio on Guadalupe and took an Iyengar class with Sarah. We had never done Iyengar, but found it energizing and great in terms of getting into exactly the correct position. Sarah was helpful and patient and the yogis in the class were welcoming. Nice space and amenities (parking, props, etc). The class wasn't as demanding as I would have liked and I was told during hand standing practice to face the wall, even though I am proficient at hand standing in the middle of the room. I assured the instructor I would not fall into anyone, but she seemed perturbed with me for not following her instruction.
