When it comes to hot yoga in Dublin, I have not found many options.
The popularity and presence might be hidden or just escaping me,
but here I was excited to finally check out THE Yoga Hub.
It's sunny and beautiful outside.... too bad it feels like it might snow in Dublin today.
1 degree in April? No big deal.
Sweat it out at yoga they say and imagine your perfect sun holiday.
Really and truly, I've practiced hot yoga on/off for 5 years now.
I'm obsessed, picky, and know what I'm looking for.
Where you invest your time, resources, and practice are important after all.
Lets break this baby down on why stars and why not stars....
The STARS-
1. CUSTOMER SERVICE:
Is it your first class and you're not sure if yoga, hot yoga, cool-ish yoga, downward dog is your thing? Nice people greet you, stare at you in a polite way while you ask any type of question, and you feel welcome. And there's the standard 'welcome email' and online bells and whistles that make it feel like a club but personal enough to be a community. Student discounts are available (bring proof and be cool) as well as various class times.
2. Personality AND Appearance: The place is hip, modern, and cool. You want to hang out in the garden, it doesn't feel sketchy to ride your back around the back, the space is urban and set up for asanas and chill time after. There's art to look at while you chill on the couch, there will be flowers as the summer rolls in, and they've a healthy cafe for a snack or meal. There's food here, that's good atmosphere. And it's healthy, soooo no guilt and ya need more energy!
3. Nice teachers:
They teachers are passionate, calming, helpful and fun. Yoga is great for all kinds of reasons, especially remembering how to play and relax. There's also a sweet instagram page these lads keep up and they seem like a big happy family. It's good vibes.
Not Feeling The Stars-
-1 I know it's hard to do this and I've not been back for awhile, but the shower situation is gross. I feel like with such cleanliness downstairs there needs to be attention brought upstairs. The place is not aired out enough for the amount of sweat that place takes. I saw mold in the showers but worst of all in the studios. And no one came in to clean (super mop) the floors in between classes so I put my mat on a pile of someone else's sweat and tried to think happy thoughts.
-1 The place just wasn't that hot. I think the room needs a space heater and more somethin' to get the temp up. It just was warmer than a regular class but it wasn't pumpin' the heat I've come to expect at a proper hot class.
Based on the good of this place and the owners' passion for detail, I'd give this place another go and say to all visiting to try it out too. It's fun visiting other studios and seeing what they're all about.
