    Review Highlights - Yo! Sushi

I love Yo Sushi and was so happy when a new one opened in Liverpool (I had been travelling to Manchester for a monthly fix).

We were cold and tired after a day of touring and on our way back to the train. We saw Ichi Noodles and HAD to stop in. It's tiny with only one table and a small counter, but you won't care. You'll stand patiently waiting for your order while taking in all the delicious aromas. I had the teriyaki beef and my hubby had the chicken (can't remember specifically), but both were absolutely great. We ordered the "value" size which was more than enough food for one person. Just love this place and wish I could eat here every day. Thanks for a great meal! Definitely recommend you whole-heartedly!

Didn't apologise, or tell me why they can't serve me, or even check the allergen list in their kitchen and tell me that their food isn't nut safe, just "no we can't serve you". Wouldn't even serve me after that if I wanted food for just myself! I'd have understood if they would have told me why they can't serve me, but just got a rude flat refusal of service. Always loved their food, but won't be going back after that. Bad customer service, and clearly there must be lots of cross contamination if that is the only response they are willing to give!

Americans ordering steak in Liverpool is akin to Japanese ordering sushi in Kansas City - so our…read moreexpectations were not especially high. We asked some locals who had the best steak in town and there was no hesitation, "Miller & Carter". The atmosphere was a touch upscale. They make a point of suggesting "appropriate attire" but there were plenty of people in shorts and sneakers. Service our night was hit and miss. A handful of waitresses tag teamed us. One was very attentive but the other two seemed as if they couldn't be bothered. Some service was prompt and others not so much. We ordered a medium 10 oz filet mignon and a medium rare 12 oz rib eye. Both were just OK, mainly because they were bland. There was just not much flavor, as if they were unseasoned. We went in not anticipating our socks to be blown off and they met our expectations. For 45 pounds we hoped for little more than what we got. We would have loved to take everyone to a Longhorn to experience the joy of a $25 18 oz ribeye bursting with flavor. Oh well - at least we got a break from fish and chips. We're mixed on whether we would go back. Will probably try a less expensive option and see how that pans out.

I last visited this Miller and Carter location in December 2020, my experience was mediocre, they…read morehave improved since then for many reasons, but I still feel they tend to fall short compared to branches in Manchester and Wilmslow, which are actually cheaper than this one. The location in Liverpool city centre is good, being along the Docks, it has nice views of Albert Dock and is in walking distance from the city's attractions. I was told the slight price increase compared to other Miller and Carter branches was just to the increase in costs (rent etc) due to their location, which is a little frustrating but understandable. The interior looks pretty good, there is a large bar area, to go alongside the restaurant area, it has the right mix of a formal place to grab a bite to eat, to a relaxing area too. On my most recent visit, I ordered the Buttermilk Chicken, I was pleased with this as the chicken was well seasoned and cooked well, accompanied by the dauphinoise potatoes and rich chicken gravy, both were very flavoursome and complemented each other very well, making it a meal. I was disappointed they did not have any of the sweetcorn puree, which was listed on the menu. I was even more disappointed that they would serve my dish without this, and they did not even have the decency to tell me they were out of stock, either at the point of ordering or even when presenting the food. I understand, they can run out of stock here and then but it would be nice to have been told about it. Other than the issue with the sweetcorn puree, the staff members working seemed friendly enough, they did not check up on me during the meal though, to ask how everything is or to refill the drinks, and it was hard to get someone's attention when required due to the size of the restaurant. I was not too impressed with my half rack of ribs, which I ordered as a side plate, to split with my friend, I didn't find there to be much meat on them, which for a steakhouse was a let-down. My Long Island iced tea was great, it was a bargain for over £7.50 given the quality and the fact it was very well made, and also looked good too. The food is a little expensive here, but the loyalty scheme is very good, due to having two previous visits and loyalty stamps, I received £10 off my bill this time as it was over £50, after two more visits I will receive £25 off any bill - even better! 3* - Some major issues which disappoint me, but all in all a good experience.
