Yo! Sushi is quickly becoming one of my favourites in Grand Central. The chain is nearly at 100 locations by now with another one in Brum at Selfridges. Yo! uses a Japanese style conveyor belt system that carries dishes around the restaurant in a circuit. Each dish is colour coded, indicating the price of the food item.
Yo! Sushi is a wonderful restaurant for vegetarians. There are numerous rolls, a veggie gyoza, fried tempura, a curry, and many other items like their seaweed salad that are veg-friendly. In fact, last year the chain won in the best vegan curry category for their tofu katsu curry at the PETA vegan food awards.
My first dish from Yo! was their tofu katsu curry, delivered from Deliveroo at a Yelp event. The curry was piping hot, spicy, and completely delicious. My second time trying the cuisine was at the actual location in Grand Central. Brittany A. and I tried all manner of dishes. Standouts included their seaweed salad, inari tofu, and vegetable gyoza. Unlimited green tea is refreshing as well with a unique taste. If you don't watch your plate colours the bill can add up quickly, fortunately Yo! has many offers throughout the week. Students can sign up on their website for a 25% discount on certain days, and on Monday many of the plates are discounted down significantly.
Service is done through a button at your seat and the staff are moderately attentive. If their conveyor sushi doesn't look fresh enough for you, a quick push of the button will allow you to order anything on the menu fresh. Fixing the sometimes slow service and perhaps offering a better value on some items will improve Yo! greatly. Overall if you are looking for a nice sushi meal in a fun environment, Yo! Sushi should be able to satisfy you well. read more
