I knew immediately that I wanted to indulge in the Lamb Leg with Kidney Beans. Definitely their specialty item and it's very clear why! They bring out a whole trolley cart and cut the lamb directly from there. The meat is so umami and almost melts in your mouth. Absolutely delicious. We also tried the Escargo, which was the best I've had (well compared to the states...), and the Chocolate Mousse, which was rich and decadent. The waiters and staff here were also just like so kind and warm. Definitely one of my top dining experiences in the city!

The food was terrible. The pineapple fried rice was completely ruined with an overload of turmeric powder. I've lived in Bangkok and eaten Thai food all over the U.S., and I know this dish -- what they served was nothing close. The Tom Yum soup was no better: lukewarm, sweet, and lacking the spicy, tangy kick it's supposed to have. Even when I spoke Thai, the staff didn't acknowledge me. To top it off, the waitress was openly gossiping when another group came in. This place fails both in food and hospitality. Definitely not recommended.

We opted for the full surprise menu with wine pairing and noted our allergies and strong dislikes with the reservation. Staff were aware and read our notes before arrival. Our favorites were the oyster with red pepper sorbet, tuna with sorrel sauce and cherry, and the beef with aubergine. My one mistake was also ordering a cheese course in addition to the surprise menu. Even though we are large eaters, this was too much (even) for me. However, the quality of the cheese was good. Service was friendly and while fluent in English, our servers were patient and happy to communicate with me in French and switch to English when needed. we sat at a table near the open door and window so we had a nice spot of the street allowing in fresh air and seeing the street activity. As most tourists, we ate early (around 7:30pm) but the place was quite busy with locals, even on a Thursday when we left. The total price for two surprise menus, an extra cheese course, two wine pairings and around 8% tip was around 270 Euros. We considered this a good value and worth repeating.

I've not lived in a city with a Hungarian restaurant for a number of years now and I was thrilled to discover Le Paprika. In Toronto , where I used to live we had a number of Hungarian restaurants and the schnitzel was the best thing in the menu (in my opinion anyway). Paprika's was almost the exactly the same and every bit as good. I asked about a salad that traditionally came with Wiener schnitzel in Toronto and my waiter asked the kitchen for it... cucumbers and vinegar, tart and tangy. The schnitzel too was as I'd had it in Toronto, crispy and tender, the cutlet pounded out so thin it almost covered the entire plate. I missed the fried potatoes, but there were mashed potatoes on the plate and they were very good. Not normally a dessert eater but I ordered a cherry strudel which was fantastic, delicious cherries layered with paper thin crispy pastry. The waiters were kind and attentive and I even enjoyed a visit from the house cat! I'll come back next time I'm in Paris and you should try it, too.

My husband craved Chinese food on our last night, so I did a search here on Yelp for open restaurants within walking distance of the hotel that rainy night. First: Don't get scared by the number of reviews and how long it's been since someone reviewed it before this one. This place does a killing in take away. We were the only non-locals to step into the restaurant. In the 45 minutes we sat down to eat our meals, about 15 people ordered and took their meals home. The restaurant is unassuming from the outside and inside. You will notice the chef at the window making fresh hand pulled noodles. I LOVE hand pulled noodles! Indoor dining during COVID: There is no outdoor dining. You need a Pass Sanitaire to be able to indoors in Paris, which you can get at any pharmacy by paying approximately $40 USD and showing proof of vaccination (with the booster within 7 months of your last COVID shot). They scan the pass before allowing you to sit down at any restaurant. Menu: They have soups, sautéed noodles, and fried rice dishes. My husband ordered the Sautéed Pork Noodles (Pâtés à base de Blé - Nouilles sautées au porc) and I ordered the House Beef Noodle Soup (Soupe de nouilles faite maison au boeuf) which come with tender beef chunks and bok choy. Both were delicious! The hand pulled noodles were nice and chewy, had a nice bite to them. Payment: You pay at the counter and you let them know what you ordered. To pay with a bank card/credit card, you need a minimum of €10. Otherwise, you will need to pay cash. Our meal cost under €30 for the 2 noodle dishes and 2 bottles of Badoit sparkling water. I don't know if they spoke English, as I can speak French. If you don't speak French, don't let it stop you. Just point to what you want to order.

We were staying near the area and happened to pass by this place as we were searching for a place to grab a bite. It's a small indoor cafe, but two things stuck out: the friendliness of the greeter (who we later found out is the owner) and that the dumplings were being handcrafted fresh by ladies right in front. We were seated at the last available seating for two, and there was a carafe of still water right there (with a sprig of mint for flavor). The restaurant emphasizes the fusion element (mainly between Chinese-dim-sum and Japanese Gyoza). We got two plates from the 'Les Compositions' menu: Menu (Dim Sum) Star (15.90€) and Menu Gyoza (14.90€). The Gyoza plate came out first, consisting of 4 meat dumplings and 4 veggie dumplings (you can tell the difference by the color of the wrapper). The plate also had medium grain rice, and seaweed salad, and a dipping sauce (soy vinegar). The dim sum plate came in two personalized size steam baskets that came JUST out of the steamer (all of it was very freshly hot, which was great). It came with rice, dipping sauce, and edamame (which is why it is called fusion, I guess). Everything was good, very fresh, and steaming hot. Obviously it depended on personal preference for fillings (we both like meat fillings a lot more than vegetarian). The size was perfect for the two of us for lunch, and we finally sated our (good) rice fix after a 12 day absence. As we were finishing, the greeter came over, and asked us to write something in a guest book. Kinda neat, so my wife wrote a nice greeting. We learned that she was Anne, the owner, and when she noticed that we were from Cali, she pointed us to a different guest book that had been signed by a famous California resident. We struck up a conversation, and paid by credit card. We left the restaurant really happy (it helped that the sun peeked out as we went outside as well). Ann was really cool, and love how a place like this exists (probably all over the city) without much hoopla.
