I hate to give a low rating on the restaurant because we received a very warm welcome, but the food just didn't live up to my expectations. Thailandais Ayutthaya was right across the street from where my husband and I were staying. The staff were wonderfully pleasant and kind (5 stars on that). We spoke with the male employee and learned he was originally from Bangkok. We also a female employee and chatted with her; her English was very good. My husband ordered the pad thai and I ordered what I thought was described as fried noodles with shrimp and a peanut sauce. It actually came out as a cold lettuce salad with a couple pieces of shrimp, tomato, cucumber, egg, and fried vermicelli noodle bits on top. Not quite what I was expecting, but it was okay (for a salad) and the peanut sauce was actually quite good. My husband's pad thai was okay, but didn't taste authentic to me, which was surprising given that the employees were actually Thai. We have been to Thailand before and as a diehard lover of their cuisine, I was disappointed. The inside of the restaurant is small and intimate; I enjoyed the wall decor of photos of old Thailand and the royal family; it made me miss our visit there. 2 stars for the food, 5 stars for the staff and service. read more
