I am incredibly impressed with Village Park ... and the city of Kannapolis as a whole! My husband…read moreand I attended the opening show of their free summer concert series, and we were in awe of how well-maintained this park is, and how organized our entire experience was. We arrived around 5:30 PM to claim our seats on the lawn, and thankfully we were able to find a parking spot right near the pedestrian bridge across the street. The city posted a very detailed map of parking options on their Instagram page ... and the amazing thing is, not only is all of that parking free, but there is a free shuttle that will take folks back and forth to their spots if they are unable to walk that far (or even if they just don't want to!) The openers started at 7 PM, and then the main act started around 8:15 PM. This gave the crowd plenty of time to get situated in their spots, grab some snacks, hit the restrooms, or even ride the carousel! This was a family-friendly outdoor concert, and they did a great job of having food/drink/activities for both kids and adults to enjoy. A glass of wine or a can of beer was just $5 each ... which felt like a steal since I'm used to spending more than double that for the same pour at other concert venues. The show itself was awesome ... we saw The Fray and they were everything we wanted them to be and more. The sound and lighting were both great. The layout of the park allowed many folks to stay in their folding chairs for the majority of the show, and still be able to see what was going on on-stage. Five stars all around for Village Park and the city of Kannapolis ... more cities should take note of what a great job they are doing here to engage their community!

If they remember nothing else they will remember our cool walk thru the park! I tried my best to talk them into " let's ride on the train" but they was too adult, I was ready! This is a nice local Fun excursion place.

Such a GORGEOUS park in the middle of small town North Carolina just outside of Charlotte. Lake…read moresports, fishing, children's parks and events, the place is HUGE. Camping hours locks you in after closing with private access should you need to exit. Ranger is a friendly bloke that was so helpful. Peaceful, full hookups and onsite black tank disposal. Note, it's a public park - so you're not going to have control over whom your neighbours are, but we got lucky and the possible problem guests were leaving as we arrived (yay!).

There's also a carousel, a barnyard to pet farm animals, an aquarium/exhibit with live animals inside of it in the nature center, a splash pad, mini golf, trails for walking, and some wildlife habitats outside that have wild animals as well. We didn't get to do the train, as it was closed; but there was still so much to enjoy at the park. Me and my bestie brought our kids and they had a blast! We spent a solid 2-3 hrs there and had a great time. It's also very inexpensive!! Some things that I will say is that the bathrooms are not very clean and don't even work but it's an old place, so that's to be expected and we're not there to use the restroom, we're there to play! Bring cash for extra things, like carousel, barnyard, animal exhibits, etc...sometimes their card reader doesn't work and they can only accept cash. There's even a cute place to shop where you purchase tickets for everything with toys and snacks inside! All in all, we had a great time! Keep in mind this place is old, but it definitely still has charm, and stands out against the other parks around. The animal exhibits, including the barnyard petting activity is a hit or miss, because this place is not a zoo. The animals have plenty of room to hide and/or roam to get space, which is a great thing!!! But some people might be upset after paying and not really being able to see the animals. Highly recommend!!! Go if you haven't!!!!

It's a nice place, and has a basketball court, picnic tables/shelters, bathrooms, lots of shady trees, and even a beautiful memorial garden to honor a fallen cop. There's a small dog park as well, and plenty of fields to practice baseball or softball. There aren't any trails to walk here, just cemented pathways around playground, memorial garden, and baseball fields. They do also have a horse shoe area that's tucked in the woods near the baseball fields. My son and I really enjoy this place, it's not fancy... but it's nice and kept pretty clean. There's even a little historical museum on the property, some cute bridges to walk over, and exercise equipment placed outside all around on the property as well. Definitely think you should pay a visit if you haven't yet. It's a nice, little hidden gem!

A large baseball complex with one huge field, two medium fields and one small field, there is a football field, tennis courts and soccer fields. The baseball fields are surrounded by a smooth walking path that measures 4/10ths of a mile. Or take the path near the dog park for 3/10ths and that one has some ups and downs for extra calorie burning. Horseshoe pits, batting cages, and even three structures with restrooms. Lots of parking, but if the south entrance is full, try the Lion Club Drive entrance next to the tennis courts. The playground is awesome and there are benches for the adults to rest while the kids are at play. [Review 13913 overall, 1235 of 2020, number 2557 in North Carolina.]
