We just wanted her to have an activity after school that would burn some energy. But my complaints are that the gym seems dirty and run down. I'm sure (hope?) they clean but it just seems run down. The girls bathroom is dirty/dinghy and always smells like a clogged toilet. I feel like the administrative/customer service side of things, they aren't 100% on top of it. They are slow to respond to emails, or just don't send their emails when they say they will. My other daughter that was going through evals to move up; the coach said they would email us and let us know her scores and if she was moving up or not, and we just never got an email from anyone. I've also heard from friends that they are not inclusive to autistic kids or kids with Down syndrome- stating they "don't have insurance for THAT." Don't really want to give my money to a gym that refers to kids in such a way. Also read up on some allegations about the owner that I would encourage others to look into.

I reported then to USAG and local police. There are now I believe 7 reports filed by CGC employee coaches with USAG of the coach AND owner JJ touching girls inappropriately. There is also an extensively researched news report detailing the owners behavior as observed first hand by other coaches.. Please please..... choose your child's mental health and long term joy over any one gym... much less one with so many reported inappropriate behaviors. Girls who experience inappropriate behaviors are affected for life... even when they observe it. Also, another owner, Kevin, whom I reported the behavior to, failed to report it to the police and CPS as required by law and strongly defended Derek who was later arrested and is no longer sanctioned by USAG thanks to a brave victim. Birds of a feather...

Sharing our experience for other parents of young children…read more My 3-year-old attended her first class, and at the end, every child received a sticker except her. While it may seem small, at this age that kind of exclusion carries meaning, especially on a first day of her very first structured ballet class. I reached out to for clarification, and while I understand standing behind their staff, the owner's response felt more focused on defending the approach than acknowledging my concerns as a parent of a 3-year-old. She also didn't seem to understand that a sticker to a 3 year old signifies belonging/a sense of doing well, and can shape how a child views themselves in a new environment. I understand having structure, but this did not feel developmentally appropriate for such a young age or for my daughters first ever dance experience. A refund was offered, which I appreciate, but overall this was not the right fit for our family. I would strongly encourage other parents to clearly understand expectations and teaching approach beforehand. During our trial class, my daughter participated less and was still encouraged with a sticker, so the inconsistency here is both confusing and concerning. For a program working with very young children, that level of inconsistency and lack of professionalism in both practice and communication is disappointing.

My child was not given the reward everyone else was given (a sticker) for not fully participating in the beginning of class. She is 3 and this was her first class and the teacher acknowledged that my child listened most of the time. The sticker is not the problem, but when brought up to the director that this odd-man out behavior is not appropriate at this age, she was not empathetic and doubled-down that these are the expectations of this studio. This is not the black swan studio, it's an after school program for 3-year olds. I have pulled my child.

They are kind and take the time to explain the skills. Coach Harry is seen around when we are there for classes or open gym and he is very fun and kind to all the children referring to them by name! He's always there to help with skills and advice about at home practicing and during open gym. He is versatile in his knowledge from parkour to gymnastics. Coach JD for level 2&3 gymnastics is a godsend! With my daughter he is always pushing her and encouraging her to advance her skills and he not only tells her what to do, he is also efficient in the skills himself and able to demonstrate. He gives constructive critiques that help her improve her skills and excel! The best park about him is he is funny and honest while maintaining his air of professionalism. Coach Ellie for level 1 parkour is an angel with children of all ages and backgrounds. My son has high functioning autism and she is so great with him. She is patient and kind and shows equal care to all the kids in her class. She constantly is bringing fresh fun and innovative ideas to each class. She is able to make all children in the class, feel heard on their input while still being active and achieving the gym goals for the period of the class. Thank you to the three best coaches my kids have ever had!

I remember spending a lot of time at the snack bar. Go figure. Anyways, banquet hall we were housed in for the event was spacious and well kept. The tables were in good order and the chairs comfortable enough. The building offered a stage, clean restrooms, an area for the caterer to set up, and a good sounds system. The staff at the front as you walk into the building were welcoming and friendly. There are several parking lots and one adjacent to the banquet hall we were in. The land escaping immediately around the building we were in was very nice, but I did notice that the gold course needed some TLC. The grass was very uneven and not well kept up.

The damage was so severe, a big remodel is needed. Yet all that was told to my family and I was about minor work: new carpet, wall painting, new doors, updated drape holders, and the remodel will be done in a couple weeks. It has now been 3 different "completion dates", and not once we were told by the coordinator. We had to reach out every time and ask what exactly is going on there. Basically, there is not a 100% guaranteed date whatsoever when the work will be done (approximate completion is mid April.) Needless to say, MY WEDDING IS COMPLETELY CHANGING VENUES WITH ONLY 3 WEEKS AWAY!!!! (Pitiful stress and anxious memory I'll always remember.) Thankfully I found out from my CATERING VENDOR that all March & most April events were being postponed &/or canceled. So the coordinator can notify other renters but not us? Really. I definitely feel ignored knowing we were reaching out and keeping in touch about the remodel... I've been more overwhelmed with wedding planning in the past 24 hours verses in the past year. Especially after speaking with quite a few places and knowing my venue budget could double with very slim options left... Good luck to those renters. You will need it!!!

My healing journey began in October 2025. This location was…read morereferred to us by a fellow member of this Y & my friend. Although we live in Paradise Hills and there are other locations near us- McGrath is where I found myself 5xs/ week- when they first opened at 6am. I came solely for the indoor heated pool. During this time, I was out on a work injury for 5 months & wasn't sure how much longer I'd be on a No Work Status. Between my occupational health doctor & my podiatrist- we were waiting to see if my foot would be in a cast. By the time I found out- NO cast was needed- my podiatrist recommended either strength training or swimming. The gals who did our application intake, honored my husband's First Responder credentials & that helped waive his application fee! Since we notated my friend referring us to McGrath- she also got a credit to her monthly fee- the following month. I was utilizing the heated pool for walking and the foam resistance weights. I have gotten to know & chat with the morning indoor lifeguards. And they helped make the morning session go fast. (Along with the music playing). Thank you Adam, Cameron, Will, Drew, Colton, Tati, Hannah, Annika & Audriana (hope I spelled your names right!). I have especially made a friend with an older fella, Randy. And he was especially the highlight of my morning. We would share our walking lane and time went by so fast. Along with the facility times changing- from 6am/ 5:30am/ 5am.... Staff doesn't miss a beat. There was a time during winter 2025- the only pool (outdoor) at Santee was getting maintenance. It was out for more than a month. And there was an influx of additional members at McGrath for quite some time. I felt the influx seemed like a burden to a few regulars- but, for me- I had the opportunity to meet more members by name. It may seem like a nuisance if one's daily routine is disrupted for a bit, but just remember- it's temporary. I was taken aback, when some grown adults refused to share their pool lanes. But, it was great to see lifeguards correct this behavior. Fast forward to Summer 2026- I booked a one hour massage and am looking forward to my first session.
