It's hard to put into words the disappointment I feel. I walked into the mission believing it was a…read moreplace of grace, a place where someone like me--someone trying to rebuild, someone who chose a new path and even got baptized--could find support. But the reality was painful. I tried to do everything right. I changed my lifestyle, my mindset, my heart. I showed up with hope. Yet the mission showed me no grace... not even understanding. People donate thinking they're helping the broken, but the truth is that so little of that help makes its way to us--the students who are trying our hardest to get up. The money goes to things that benefit the staff, not those of us who are fighting every day to stand back on our feet. They told me they wanted to help me--but in the end, they only pushed me toward dependency, urging me to apply for disability, to drain government aid. Why try to help me stand on my own when it's easier to let the system take care of me? The people I trusted robbed me. My own advocate stole my backpack--the one with $4,000 I worked for... and with my grandmother's and baby brother's ashes. They wouldn't even let me see the footage that would prove it. The bed they gave me was covered in black mold. The room too. They paid people to follow me around this city, to watch me, as if I was some problem to control, instead of someone just trying to heal. Then when I was hit by a car--when I was literally injured, needing MRI scans for brain damage--they kicked me out. I'm still in and out of doctors' offices. I was only there for 98 days. But in those 98 days, I was hurt more than I was helped. I have pictures. Proof. My own advocate recorded my private calls with my attorney without my consent.

Everything. Staff really helpful and friendly. The residents are friendly. The service is great so…read morefar

I'm currently staying at the door of Hope I've been on the coordinated entry system for 2 years of…read morethat 2 years I have been removed as inactive five different times I've had two housing referrals go completely ignored and I have screenshots to prove it I have had no case management since July and they tried to lock the doors on me but I made them go through the legal process because they cannot just lock a door on somebody after I've been living here for a year and a half I have a terminally ill husband and two small children at Christmas time they intentionally left my kids out of getting toys donated not coming from their pocket and they didn't tell me until the 18th of December so that I couldn't sign up for anything else because it was too late so every kid in the apartment got a toy but mine and I have an email to prove the director saying that it's not her problem today I am adamantly looking for low-income housing for my family and I'm calling everything that I put my cell phone waitlist-wise and three different apartments have told me that they sent me letters to this address and that they were to return to sender I've also had my public housing email sent back I've had my IHSS mail return to sender I've had my bank returned to sender. When I address the situation all they tell me is my bad human error I've been on the CBS news I've gone to the department of Justice the housing commission HUD the mayor city councilman the director the director of homeless services for salvation army San Diego. They've denied my housing referrals that come to me from the city because I have to go through case management to get them they're refusing to case manage me but refusing to take their name off of my case so I can have another case manager their intentionally sabotaging me so that I'm left to go nowhere but the street. Everybody donates and everybody thinks these places are so great and holy because their churches no they're the biggest crooks we don't get anything I've never been given a blanket a T-shirt nothing from this place no food I do everything myself they charge me rent on top of that even though my husband is 24-hour care dependent I'm not allowed to have a respite worker come in I'm not allowed to have help with my kids nothing so I am left to my own with no help and then they have all these requirements that they want you to complete but they don't do anything to help you. Just the fact that they would leave an 8-year-old and a 10 year old out of Christmas and make them witness every other child get gifts but them tells you exactly what kind of people these are Heather St Aimee Maria Trullio Leslie and Megan these are evil vindictive crooks. They have no good intention the only time they're nice to people that live here is when the donators come and feed us at Christmas time or Thanksgiving if you get invited they'll be nice to you at that time but that time only. I am not going to stop fighting until I can get my story out. They do not get to do this to me and my kids they mess with the wrong one and I can tell the lady who donated her stuff here they throw that in the trash everything that's donated to the salvation army at that back bend or at the front desk goes the next day straight to the dumpsters just so you guys know you're probably better off donating somewhere else if you truly want the people you're donating to to receive the items we don't get none of that we get spoiled food with gnats on it and that's just left on a table in the front if you grab it in time you can have some that's about the most amount of help you're going to get I've never been case managed I've never had a housing plan nobody's ever given me a referral nothing and I have evidence for anybody who would like to see

We got to meet a lot of adorable dogs, and one little guy instantly stole our hearts. What really stood out was how thoughtful and thorough TAP's process is. There was no pressure to adopt on the spot, which we really appreciated. After the event, we completed an application and received clear next steps. The following week, our foster brought him to our home so we could spend more time together. That confirmed everything we felt at the event. TAP conducted a home visit and checked our references, and it was clear throughout the process that they truly care about the well being of their animals and making the right match. Our foster was amazing, so kind and supportive. When we brought our little guy home, she sent him with his toys, some food, and a sweet note, which meant so much to us. Such a wonderful experience overall, and now our home is filled with love, laughter, and lots of snuggles.

They are extremely flexible with scheduling of volunteering and there are many different types of fostering opportunities. They provide food, supplies, veterinary care, and any other items your foster dog may need. Your contribution is the home and time. They also have a coordinator that matches you with a dog/cat that will match your lifestyle or situation such as small apartment spaces or other pets/kids. The coordinator is extremely communicative and prompt. Another great option is temporary foster for when long-term fosters go on vacation or when certain animals need a foster home if the kennel is full. This is a great opportunity to do a trial run on fostering or if you can't make a longer commitment. I have fostered several dogs from this rescue and make a monthly contribution when I can't house another pup. I continue to be inspired by their amazing work. Lauren shares many videos about the very real situations and struggles of being a rescue. Funding is extremely difficult but rest assured that your time, efforts and money donated are going to an excellent place. Even sending $5 over Venmo helps put a drop in the bucket!

A really good friend of mine, whose opinion I value, suggested that I visit TDWC and I am so glad I did! This place is a medium size church and the people who attend are of all ages, mostly african american. The have a good choir and each time I was there the pastor delivered his own sermon. I continued to visit this church because it reminded me of my church home in Los Angeles. I could really feel the annointing. Usually when you go to church it seems like they are begging for money but I did not get that vibe when I went here. In fact, one Sunday after the offering was taken the pastor told those in the congregation who had past due bills to raise their hand. Maybe 20-30 people raised their hands and he told them that the church would pay the bill if they brought the proof to the church on Monday!!!!! I was totallly amazed. This speaks V O L U M E S about the pastor here and the type of ministry that he has. After church, all first time visitors get to meet the pastor and his wife in a small intimate setting with snacks! I really like this place..definitely make time to visit!
