I have chronic asthma so walking in the humidity can be stressful so joined the YMCA at Norton Commons. There is always someone there to greet you, show you how to use equipment, a plethora of classes offered to any form of fitness. Level one has reception, pool access, locker rooms for men & women, daycare for kids, vending machines, personal trainers to help with all the athletic equipment. Second floor has walking-running circle, exercise bikes, class room, boxing corner, workout corners, & a restroom. Cost is very reasonable for people of all ages. I enjoy watching the kids run laps while I walk, staff & members are friendly so you can't not want to go there. Most importantly for everyone is you are exercising in a clean, orderly, safe, & well ventilated area. read more

I came as a guest with my sister. This is such a nice YMCA facility. Very large with a lap pool, indoor splash pad, waterside, and typical cardio, free weight, track, basketball court, cycling studio, and high Impact Group studio.The womens locker room had plenty of lockers, a couple of dressing rooms incase you are shy, toilet of course, vanity area, and nice shower stalls. These seemed very clean. The kid area was very nice. With a check in check out lobby, a nursery, a toddler area, and an older kid are 4-12. The staff that I ran into were all very nice and helpful. Side note, there were many small lockers in the main area also. read more

This YMCA has an indoor track which sets it apart from all the other YMCAs in my opinion. Kids have to be 12 to use the workout machines but even the little kids can run on the track. It is a great place to be active as a whole family. read more

Clean gym, lots of machines and classes to take, it can be very busy and crowed at time. Just having to find the less busy times to go

This is my favorite gym! The staff is so friendly and accommodating, and it's always clean. They have went above and beyond during Covid-19. I appreciate how everyone gets their own spray bottle and towel. There is also hand sanitizer everywhere and arrows pointing to where you need to walk to encourage social distancing. The Y also offers a wide variety of classes (when allowed) and personal training. Will highly recommend! read more

Recently joined the YMCA at Norton Commons because it met all of my needs in terms of location, group fitness classes, and variety of equipment. The staff there is nice and overall there are several amenities. The space does feel a little tight in certain ways (like available areas to use dumbbells and do exercises on the floor) but when there isn't a class going, that room is available and helps. I love the indoor track and the hours are good. I appreciate that the cleaning spray/towels are readily available and individualized! read more

Function: 3/5 - Good equipment, nice design, but not too spacious. It's very "center stage" in appearance and while it's no issue for me, I know some may feel uncomfortable with the feng shui... I 'm a big fan of the boxing area and track, but not a big fan that they moved the speed bag into the spin room which limits opportunity to actually use the equipment. I almost had rather be in the large basketball gym like at Northeast. Not having towels at this facility somewhat irks me simply because it's come to be expected as a standard in YMCAs, and other larger gyms, and the membership fee somewhat warrants it. Great play space for kids by the way. Service - 4/5 - Usually very friendly, and they usually have available information on hand about classes and programs. I did notice they have a camera in the family locker room which I find to be odd, but I'm sure they have a reason? I would hope it's passively monitored. read more

If you are one of those people who go to the gym not to work out, but to stare at yourself in the mirror and make a bunch of noise to purposefully get people to look at you, then this is the gym for you! Whole place is full of guys slamming weights down as loudly as possible, wearing muscle shirts because they somehow forgot what their arms looked like after they left the house, and people who think they can lock down 3 different machines at once for their sets. Overall great locations and great new facility. Some weaknesses though as they dont yet have an indoor basketball gym, and Co-Ed Sauna which is kinda lame, the heating element inside was not very hot, probably due to it being co-ed, that was a weakness that could still cause me to want to attend NE YMCA, as their sauna cranks out some major heat. read more

Love. The. YMCA! This location is closest to me and since I am a 5 am regular that works! It is very clean, wonderful staff, great equipment and class options are . T pool is very nice as well. The only draw back to this particular facility in my opinion is that there are no gyms for basketball or other "gym" sports. Love this location! The staff is always welcoming. I can always find a machine even during peak hours. The pool has a specific area for kiddos and their daycare is amazing. Love the modern water fountains with a place to use water bottles. They have free coffee in the morning. Their running track is upstairs where you can find a few extra cardio machines. That's where you'll find the spinning classroom and the group workout classroom. It's a smaller YMCA, but is new and well taken care of! read more

I recently tried body pump, I highly recommend starting your day with Deborah and Kim on Tuesdays and Thursdays. These ladies don't miss a beat at 6 am. It's a non-intimidating atmosphere with great energy. All fitness levels welcome. read more
