I pay 57.00 a month to come in and play pickleball!! Every few months the curtain is broken which only leaves us 2 courts for over 20 people. Then there Are the summer camps that use the gym on our time of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday 10:30 to 12:30 in case of rain and summer heat!! I am about ready to cancel my membership!! Everyone that used to play there are now leaving and going somewhere else to play because of all this. Again this morning the curtain is broken and the kids had half the gym!! So frustrating to get ready and come there and then only one court out of 3 are open!!! I'm done with all this. I can go somewhere else for 1-5 dollars and save a lot of money!!! read more

A member of the YMCA for a great long while - unfortunately with not a lot of use. (Hoping to change that soon.) A good friend invited me to her fun exercise class called Pound Fitness at the Jeffersonville YMCA. I had never participated in this class nor been to the Jeffersonville Y.       Upon arrival, even though prime time (that 5pm-7pm slot), there were parking spots! This doesn't seem to be the case at other YMCA locations or you park in overflow lots - which is fine but not necessarily getting you to your class on time. Inside the Jeffersonville YMCA, you're greeted by friendly staff, a clean, easy to navigate gym.   This YMCA is smaller scale and all their amenities are on one floor.  The exercise rooms are mirrored and spacious.  The pool is fascinating - a 2 lane lap pool with a large children area - slide, water splash activities, locker rooms are locker rooms, half lockers stacked, restrooms, changing areas, showers, etc.  Weight and cardio room is more condensed, less spacious but more welcoming.    Pound Fitness what an interesting and fun concept - each participant is given a pair of drum sticks where you bang on the ground (on a yoga mat) or together in the air. I summer drummers are typically in good shape. Makes sense. The class is paired with some awesome, upbeat tunes to get your heart pumping. I love it. I can't wait for the next class. read more

I've started going here since I moved as it's closer to my house, and as much as I adored my old gym, I can't really rationalize making an extra trip across the bridge for it and paying tolls on top of membership fees. Boo. ANYWAYS. I really like the Clark Co. Y! Everyone working there has been friendly and helpful, and the facility is nice and clean! Plus- you get classes included (yoga, kickboxing, zumba, spinning, and many many more) and the time slots for the classes vary enough that anyone can find some that are convenient. If you take advantage of these it makes the membership fees worth it. Not to mention the fact that they have childcare available, which is a great incentive for parents to come and work out. I mainly use the free weights, and I'm happy to say I haven't had much of an issue having to wait on others. They only have one squat rack with a space for deadlifting also, which is good news for those into powerlifting. I'm also a big fan of the pool! I just love swimming around, it makes me feel like I'm on vacation, okay! There's even a slide, and noodles to use! In the same room as the pool there's also a steam room and sauna, which is a nice treat after a long workout. read more

The YMCA serves the community proudly. The facility is over 40 years old, but it is well maintained and has good housekeeping. They have equipment instructors, trainers, swimming instructors, etc. The staff at the Y is very helpful and friendly. The Y offers many different types of classes: older adults, group exercise, and aqua fit. The older adult classes include: oil painting, Bible, book club, dominoes, healthy fit, Zumba, etc. The group excercise classes include: cycling, yoga, body pump, stretch & balance, and too many more to mention. The aqua classes are aqua fit, aqua fit plus, fit in 50, warm water classes and many other group classes for water fitness/therapy. Exercise is a personal experience, what interests one person may not interest another. I've been a member of the Metro Y in and off now for many years. Mostly used as a gym for myself, however recently got my husband going also as well as having had our daughter enrolled in kinder camp and preschool programs. Their kids club is great for keeping her busy as I workout or just have some bible study time. Kinder camp offered a host of fun and engaging activities and the preschool program has classes starting at 2 yrs. After a good workout I love to relax in the sauna!!! read more

I went to this Y for a couple of years before I moved and I just rejoined today. I'm so glad to be back. I have had a ton of success in strengthening and toning my figure here by attending the Body Pump and Zumba classes and the whole family have things to do. The pool is great as is the basketball courts. Of course, the staff are all amazing and have became friends with several of them. This is what I needed and I'm so glad that I live close to here again. Included with the membership you can also go to the Floyd Cty Y which is also awesome. read more

The staff at the YMCA went above and beyond after an unfortunate incident that was no fault of their own. After my car was broken into, multiple staff members assisted me. They contacted the police, waited by the car with me and even took care of glass clean up. The very next day, administration personally contacted me to apologize and inform me that they were supplying the police with multiple videos of the crime. I did learn to hide valuables (as recommended) but I also learned how supportive the YMCA community really is! read more

Great place to be. I've went to the gym a few times and the machines were well-maintained. The childcare and after school program is wonderful as far as the staff keeps the kids in activities all the time. I wish however that they prepared a lunch. So they should provide a lunch when they have the kids all day. I do wish there was assigned lockers for kids and/or the kids would make sure their stuff is put away neatly so the possibility of lice and other problems would be avoided. Every time I'd pick up my kids, the room where their stuff was, was a disaster, which freaked me out a little, because my mind went instantly to "don't they teach about lice anymore?" and "oh, my gosh!" All the kids stuff was just strewn all over the ground and on things. The fact that you have to pay for everything extra is a turn-off. You pay for a yearly membership fee, plus a monthly fee, and most everything extra (classes, childcare, etc.) is an extra fee. The only reason became a member at the Y is for the childcare. Signing up was rather a headache, too. It's a great place to be, but paying all the fees for everything makes you not want to go. read more

My boyfriend and I go to the gym almost every day. I am very concerned about the fact that the people using the equipment are not adhering to YMCA policy in wiping off the machines after they use them. I mentioned it and a few days later there were signs posted about please clean machines after use. That being said the same day I saw an employee showing a new customer around the gym and using the machines. No paper towel in hand or anywhere close. They did not clean the machine nor did that employee mention it. This has happened on two occasions in the past week. With the epidemic of Flu going around and the amount of children that are in that building I am amazed that the YMCA doesn't take more precaution. BTW I was there today and the signs have been taken down. And another employee showing a new person around and on the machines with nothing to clean each machine after use. Sigh read more

My partner and I have been contemplating joining the YMCA but have been holding out on account of the price. For two, it's $84/mo, in addition to an $80 join fee. We took advantage of the free pass offered on their website and went in tonight around 7pm to check it out. I told the lady at the counter we both had free passes and she was anything but pleasant. My partner later told me she rolled her eyes when I mentioned the free passes while I pulled it up on my phone. Had I known this at the time, I would've said something and walked out. You're offering a gym membership at a premium cost + an outrageous JOIN FEE, be nice to your potential customers who will be giving you an extra $1000+ yearly. As much as I want to have access to an indoor pool, we'll continue paying out $20/month for the two of us to work out down the street. read more
