Since I have a Metro YMCA family membership, I sometimes visit this branch for specific fitness classes or recommendations to access great trainers. This facility is situated next to the Ohio River floodwall and within view of the Sherman Minton Bridge in the downtown area. There are large parking lots on either side of the building with free access. The facility has large locker rooms, a lap pool, heated pool, and children's splash pad and fun water slides. Upstairs area has fitness machines, free weights, classrooms, and a walking track. This is my least favorite track of the local YMCA facilities visited because it is a quarter track and makes my ankles hurt with any worthwhile distance (more turns per workout). Large windows and expanses of glass make for a mood lifter when working out, so this plus balances out any minuses. Reception staff are very helpful and friendly. read more

I just recently discovered this branch of the YMCA and I'm disappointed that I waited so long! The facility is very nice and clean. They have a large variety of equipment and classes that fit anyone's needs. I love the pool area and the fact that you can make a reservation is such a time saver. I know when I make a reservation that I'll have a lane when I show up. The parking is super convenient and the staff is always so helpful. This is one of the best branches in the Louisville area! read more

Always clean and well serviced. Love the sauna too. I use the track, resistance machines and the sauna most.

Everything is clean. Staff are incredibly incredible, kind, and helpful. Definitely worth the price. The classes are so fun and help you get a great workout in. The classes teachers are super supportive and help you learn. I've recommended this gym to everyone I know. read more

I have enjoyed the therapy pool both before and after infusion back surgery. Getting into that pool several times per week has allowed me to be strong enough for surgery. Doing exercises in the pool has helped me with walking, standing and balancing after my surgery. read more

The Y is superior to all other gyms. Love it. Many classes available, instructors come up to meet you, not crowded.

I have been a member for over 12 years and new albany rearranged their gym in worst way possible. Its really just a day care now. And when i canceled. They charge me again 3 weeks after. They said it was causw i need to cance over 4 weeks ahead of next draft. What a kick oit the door. read more

This is a fantastic YMCA! They have everything that you could want. State of the art fitness equipment, classes, full basketball court, climbing wall, and aquatic center. What I love the most and drive across the bridge for is the track. I prefer the track over treadmill on a cold and rainy day like today! Sure, there are cheaper gyms but I support the Y because they are advocates for our communities! read more

This Y just keeps getting worse, Swimming today with my wife and daughter, 3 of us sharing lane 2, and this idiot older man jumps in to spot 2 and starts swimming laps. I finally stop him and say, what are you doing we're swimming here. He says, I have a reservation for 11:30 to 12:30. I said that not how it works. After doing hundreds of reservations myself and being told that, we don't save your actual spot you just fill in what ever spot is open in the pool, Apparently the Aquatic Director did inform everyone correctly, because I checked with people that worked there and they were told that we were still doing reservations the old way, where you fill whatever spot is open, which does NOT mean the sport you reserved. No messages were posted, no emails sent, total confusion and pushy idiots on top of it. What a mess! Aquatic Director please be more professional, and better, changing rules on a holiday? What are you thinking, of course you weren't there for the confusion! WHY NOT? read more

The YMCA is a pretty awesome organization in general. They base membership prices on income so folks having a rough time can still afford to be healthy and engaged. Even if you have to pay full price, the monthly membership rates are reasonable and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Also, the "family" is defined as two adults and dependents 25 or under, attending school and living in the same household. This means that they do *not* discriminate based on marital status and don't exclude same sex couples. They get bonus points for that. This location has a pool, a therapy pool, a kid's pool complete with awesome water slide, steam room, sauna, a great selection of workout machines, basketball courts, a climbing wall, a place to let the kiddies rub snot all over each other while you get your workout on, an indoor running track, and a myriad of regularly scheduled group exercise classes. The locker rooms are clean and have plenty of lockers available. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's even free WiFi in the lobby. I really should get over there more often... read more

It's a great gym with high quality equipment and plenty of different activities to take part in. The only thing keeping this from being 5-stars is the free weights area. The free weights used to be on the third floor next to the cardio in a large open area. They moved them to the second floor in a long, but narrow area. Perhaps it's more square footage but the narrowness causes issues during busy hours. People end up standing on top of each other or forced to stand in awkward corners while lifting. There's an added issue with the current location as well. The children's play room is directly beneath the free weight area now. Recently they put a sign up asking people to be careful about putting weights down because they are shaking the lights. They need to either move the free weights back to the third floor or find somewhere else to put them. read more

I've never been a member of the Y but once I saw this one I felt I had to check it out. It looks so nice with the big beautiful entrance and windows throughout the building. Upon inquiring to become a member, the lady was super nice and helpful and showed me around. They offer great incentives and programs to keep you active and engaged. It's super nice on every floor and there's options for everyone. There are classes held most days of the week, basketball courts, rock climbing wall, and more. I definitely recommend it if you are looking for a gym and even more so a community to join and become a part of. read more

I have been a member of the YMCA for so many years and just recently made it out to this branch. It is part of the YMCA of Greater Louisville and if you have a community wide membership this one is included. It is a short drive from downtown Louisville and is worth it. They have a nice indoor pool with a slide, a separate lap pool, and even a warm therapy pool in it's own room. I LOVE THAT WARM POOL! Of course it isn't hot tub temperature but pretty nice and warm feeling if you are interested in dipping into the pool but sick of the cold! The men's and women's locker rooms each have a sauna and steam room, along with the usual amenities. This branch also has an indoor track, big basketball court, rock wall (not always open), and of course all the usual cardio machines, free weights, and resistance machines. It's broken up into 2 different rooms, one with cardio and weight machines, the other mostly free weights and resistance stuff. Plenty of classes are offered if you're into that, just check the schedule ahead of your visit. Another plus to this Y is that there is a local brewery right next door for your post workout treat. read more

I love this Y besides the beginning of the year it's not a lot of people. Your able to get on machines without having to wait. I love how the steam room and sauna are in the locker rooms, so there not coed. The pool is nice and big they have an area where you can do laps, the kiddie area, the whirlpool, and open spot for classes and free swim. I love the yoga classes you definitely have to go early for those classes because they fill up early. The workers are very friendly and helpful. read more

Literally all the amenities you could ask for! Cleanliness is top notch and the staff couldn't be nicer :) Only complaint is the small lockers. read more

The YMCA is huge and it offers many things inside the big building! Including but not limited to: A rock climbing wall, a sauna, and indoor track, several pools, multiple locker rooms, several basketball courts, a child center, and more! Their equipment is new and nice. The staff is friendly and helpful. It's one of the nicer YMCA's I've been to. It is always clean and I really enjoy working out here. Also, the classes are great! Try these if you're looking for some direction in working out. read more

I am here like, all the time- at least 3 times a week, usually more. I really like this Y, it's clean, the equipment is nice, there are lots of classes available, and the staff is super duper friendly (aside from one particular guy who really annoys me but I'll let that slide.) I love coming here because the facility itself is so nice, and the surrounding area is so pretty, that it always puts me in a good mood. I really wish there was one more squat rack, but I think that's pretty standard for all the YMCAs. My one complaint that doesn't have anything in particular to do with this location is that when I first signed up for the Y in southern IN I was able to attend both locations (Floyd and Clark co.) but that changed, and I wasn't even informed. I was told I had to make a decision on the spot when I checked in one afternoon, which was stressful. Also, the price stayed the same, so I feel that was something that I should have been formally told about (I was paying more to attend both locations, rather than just one.) Either way, I like this place enough that I'll continue to attend. read more

What a great gym in the Southern IN area! I love everything this place has to offer. For starters, the location is phenomenal. It's right off the Sherman Minton which makes it easily accessible to any Louisvillians. (No toll on that bridge either - yeehaw!) Located right along the Ohio River's flood wall, my favorite time to go to this gym is spring, summer, and early fall when it's nice enough to either warm up before my workout outside or post-workout walk it out. Believe it or not, running stairs on the flood wall prior to going into the Y is my preference! But during the cooler months, the Y alone is more than enough. The first floor offers a pool area (part for swimming laps while the other area is kid friendly), along with a rock climbing area, and a kiddo daycare center. The staff are more than attentive in greeting everyone as they walk in and leave. Love those smiling and motivating faces!! On the second floor you will find a walking track, quite a few machines, a workout room where classes are offered, and the men and women's locker rooms. May I mention on how clean the locker rooms are! Well, I retract that statement. May I mention how clean the women's locker room is! (Haven't made it into the men's to comment on their cleanliness. Lol!) There are ample lockers, changing stalls, mirrors, bathroom stalls, showers, and drumroll please... both a sauna AND a steam room!! The sauna is really the selling point for me at this Y. Moving right along to the third floor, you'll find a large space with rows and rows of ellipticals, bikes, treadmills, and other fun machinery. Their most recent addition is their stairmaster which I am loving!! And another room for offered workout classes. Score!! Lots of TVs, water fountains, and disinfectant stations. I've never had a poor experience here! As expected, they can get busy around 5 o'clock and you may have to wait for one of their 18+ treadmills BUT I am sure you'd find that with any gym. If you can work around it, work around it! If not, so be it. Tons of other things open and at your workout fingertips. Anyway, A+ in my book. Really great facility with really great people!! Also, be sure to download their app! It gives you all the class times as well as other helpful information. read more

This is the place to join in New Albany if you want to work out, do cardio exercise, swim.... The physical facility is clean, modern and attractive. The aquatic center has an olympic size lap pool, a large heated therapy pool and a "kiddie" pool with tube slide! The cardio area has a wide variety of machines, mostly treadmills but also stairclimbers, ellipticals, seated ellipticals and other ones... and almost all of them have tv screens built in. There is a 3 story rock wall to climb, an excellent weight lifting area with a great variety of resistance and free weights, stretching machines... a snack bar, a monitored area for young kids to play while parents sweat, a large basketball area... my only complaint is that they don't have a racquetball court or two. Both men and women's locker rooms have a sauna and a steam room, too. The only complaints I have heard while there are about the locker sizes, which are a bit small. read more

Nice facility. Lots of old people and brats, but you expect that in a Y. Not the place for the pretty people crowd, and that works for me, just ordinary people. Good thing they don't know I'm not a christian, muhahahaha read more

Fantastic physical space at the corner of State & Main in downtown New Albany. I am a connoisseur of YMCA s...branches/downtown locations...and this is one of my favorite in all the USA. Some equipment differences between the Louisville Downtown YMCA (which has issues of its own) are my only beef here. The aquatic center is a 5-star facility in its own right. If you have kids and a metro Y membership why don't you already know about this winter haven of watery bliss? read more

Terrific staff & facility in addition to being One of the most exquisite works of Art in Kentuckiana! (All Stars!)

The New Albany YMCA is located right next to the Sherman Minton Bridge which makes it so very easy to work out in the morning and go about your day! The early morning classes start at 5:15 a.m. and have amazing, dedicated, inspiring instructors! Whether you spin, body pump or swim it's all good! The pool is well maintained and lap swim is always available with all swim levels welcome. The locker room facilities are well maintained, updated and clean. This Y is always looking for better ways to serve the community. If you are looking for a friendly place to work out with support and no judgement this is it!:) read more
