My husband and I both saw Dr. Castillo for 4 years while in NYC. We both feel that she is the best dentist we've ever seen. She is practicing state of the art techniques. She also is very focused on appropriate anesthesia and really had painless procedures (I had a cavity, my husband a crown). Furthermore, she has very respectable business practices. She figured out that we had better coverage under my husband's insurance. She REFUNDED us the difference, without us even asking. I feel there are very few businesses that would't pocket that difference. She had no incentive to look into that process for us. We are genuinely sad to start the process of looking for a new dentist. read more

You couldn't ask for a better dentist! She's a top-notch professional in every way. When I originally started to see her she was my periodontist and then became my dentist. I have always gotten courteous, knowledgeable, and professional service. read more

At first, I really liked Dr Castillo. She seemed friendly, and kind, and efficient. However, my experiences got worse each time. One of the things that bothers me the most is that she charges items at the last minute or without your awareness, and then you are left scrambling to find out why. A couple of times, I was told there would be no charge, only to have one sent through eventually. I have had to go back and have crowns adjusted or fixed after she did them, and one fell out less than six months after I got it. She can also be quite rude to her own staff. I am done with this place and have found a new dentist. I would not recommend. There are plenty in NY! read more

Loreene E. M. Dr. Yiselle Castillo is an excellent dentist!! She knows her profession very very well. I have been going to Dr. Castillo for 5 years now and I have never in all of my years found a Dentist as good as she is at dentistry. She was recommended to me and I am glad that I started going to her. This is a Dentist that I will continue to go to for a very long time. I have had many issues with my teeth and when I go to Dr. Castillo, there is always a remedy to cure the issue. She is available when you call her last minute for any emergency. The bottom line is that she works with her patients. I would easily recommend her service. read more

Dr. Castillo came into our lives at exactly the right moment. Both my partner and I were a little afraid of dentists, having had bad experiences in the past. Because of that, we weren't taking great care of our teeth. We were referred by a friend to Dr. Castillo, and over the last 5 years she's taken great care of us, helping repair the damage done by past dentists and set us up with healthier, stronger teeth going forward. I'm tremendously grateful to her and just sad I don't live in New York anymore so I can't keep going to her! read more

Every good Dentist story begins the same way ... "after years of awful dentists .... " Well my story is no different. I had a Dentist so bad they messed up not one ...not two but three root canals. ( they were all fine at first just in hindsight they were not done well If i could find him and write a bad review I would ... just don't go to a dentist across from the Silouette in Boston) Needless to say this is the best Dentist I have ever been to. I suggest her to everyone. And won't be leaving her any time soon. ( you can even watch TV!!!! ) read more

I was extremely unhappy with my experience with Dr. Castillo. She discovered mid-appointment that I needed a root canal and told me it would take three more appointments to finish. Each time I went in that number went up, and I was told that I had misunderstood her in my previous appointment. This continued for seven appointments. When I paid my significant bill, I was assured by her staff that I was paid in full and no other charges would be incurred. I was told this twice-- the second time with an apology and an explanation that there had been a mistake, but that this was definitively the final charge. Six months later I got a call demanding more money. When I argued with the receptionist her response was that she was new and had no idea what was going on, she just made the calls the dentist told her to. She told me she would look into my account and call me back later. She never did, and when I called back Dr. Castillo's answering service told me her office was not open, was in fact on vacation for the whole month. When I eventually got a response over a month later it was an assurance that they would look into the billing issue and that I would not be charged until they called me back and explained the situation to me. The next word I received from her office was another bill marked six months overdue along with a threat that I would be turned over to a collection agency. When I called her office the receptionist explained to me that she was new, had no idea what was going on, and simply made the calls the doctor told her to. I am filling a complaint with the New York Board of Dentistry. Do not use this dentist. read more

After a friend suggested this dentist, I couldn't be happier. Most have insurance so the twice a year visit doesn't register that much on your radar. But with Dr. Castillo, I had that great twice a year experience with care and understanding throughout, but what set her apart was when I needed more than just a cleaning. I had some extensive work on my teeth needed which Dr. Castillo gave me all the options, cost and timeline. The staff were always up front on the cost, insurance coverage and giving me the truth throughout the process. The main thing you want from a dentist is too feel relaxed and taken care of. With Dr. Castillo you have that and more. Feel confident you are making the right choice if you are on the fence about a new dentist in NYC. read more

Dr. Yiselle Castillo, has a very gentle touch. I have the best experience under my very bad situation. She is very professional, tells you right away what she needs to be done. Her staff is very nice, and helpful. The office very modern and warm at the same time. I recommend Dr. Castillo. I check with her office manager before I went to see her to make sure she takes my insurance. My friends are going to her and are very happy with the treatments, and most of all how gentle she is. Very beautiful person inside and out. i'm not longer afraid to see a dentist, because of her. read more

I needed an urgent dental procedure after being diagnosed with an unfortunate incidental condition on a routine x-ray. It was a time fraught with anxiety and uncertainty. I was afraid of the procedure and worried about the financial expense. Dr. Castillo and her excellent team did a great job of putting me at ease. They explained the process clearly and provided me with a manageable payment plan. The procedure itself was done with superlative skill and the gentlest demeanor. What I had originally envisioned to be arduous and painful went smoothly and with minimal discomfort. I can't recommend her enough. Thank you Dr. Castillo! read more

I've been going to Dr. Castillo for almost 10 years and she has done a lot of work to my teeth including a dental implant, root canals and fillings - all this virtually painless! In theory, Dr. Castillo is a nice dentist. But, when it comes to administrative things like calling someone back or replying to an email when they say they will, their office is just not there. For this reason alone, I've had to find another dentist. Literally, for weeks I called and called and emailed and left messages, and no one ever answered the phone or called me back. So, I couldn't get my appointment or care. On to the next dentist. read more

I was recommended to see Dr. Castillo by my friend and co-worker. Dr. Castillo is very pleasant and seemed very knowledgable to me. I have to go for a second visit soon, but giving 3 stars now since I had to wait for 35 min in the waiting room. Given that I only have 1 hour lunch time, it's a little bit of inconvenience. But Dr. Castillo apologized for the wait and made sure that I wasn't rushed out. Oh... Another drawback, the office doesn't have 360 degree X-Ray machine so the assistant had to use old fashion 50 films for the whole mouth to take x-rays. read more

I was with her just for cleaning. The first time she used only a machine and did such a poor job that she chopped a piece of my front tooth. Next time she did exactly the same thing, and when I asked her why she does not finish cleaning manually what every other dentist does, she tried to convince me that her machine is special and it is not necessary. The cleaning was done so poorly that I had to go for another cleaning a month later. The dentist who did that cleaning is now my dentist, a very good one. He spent more than an hour cleaning my teeth, and thought that I did not have a cleaning for a very long time. He used a "special" machine at the beginning but spent at least half an hour doing it manually. A friend of mine had a similar experience with Dr. Castillo but with filling. It fell out one week after it was done, and she had to do it again. But like me, she decided to do it with another dentist who did it properly. On top of being a very bad dentist, she will make you pay and do things that you do not need to do. So, be careful and think before yuo decide to have her for your dentist. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Castillo's for many years now. I've been going to her since I was about 8 years old. I get compliments on my smile all the time. She is a great, pleasant person. I'm one of the only people I know who has no fear or dislike of the dentist and it's all thanks to Dr. Castillo. read more

I just moved back to New York, and I am excited to see Dr. Castillo. She is the best dentist that I have ever had. Most dentist visits are dreaded; Dr. Castillo, was the first and last dentist that I actually look forward to because her advice helps in the long run, she is patient, and somehow she minimizes the pain! Excellent dentist. read more

Dr. Castillo is the best dentist I have ever been to. She is so nice, gentle, knowledgeable and the procedures are not painful. She will make sure you have numbing gel or whatever it needs for you to be comfortable. Her assistants are also very sweet. I have had the worst dental experiences in the past with many many dentists...I was always in a lot of pain at the dentist and repetitively told "I don't brush or floss enough" (which I do!!) and I was told that I would need some severe gum procedures done... I tried finding another dentist because I was so nervous around my old one. I'm so happy I found Dr. Castillo (a referral from endo Dr. Young Bui). She told me the gum procedures were not necessary and helped me fix up my teeth (painlessly, I couldn't believe it) and she helped me get Invisalign to improve my smile. I'm very grateful for Dr. Castillo and truly recommend her. She is very patient and really cares about you. (Also, the receptionists are the most pleasant beings on this earth). If you are looking for a great dentist look no further! read more

I went to see Dr. Castillo thanks to my boyfriend. He found her through his work intranet. She had good recommendations. He had two fillings and he is quite happy with them. I had several teeth problems (a crooked and impacted wisdom tooth), trouble giving root canals. As my case was pretty particular, she sent me to specialists about the wisdom tooth and the root canal. Those two doctors were good as well, especially the dental surgeon for the wisdom tooth, Peter Sherman, he is the best. I appreciate her sending me to specialists. Some doctors just want to do it all themselves. Then I had to say bye to one of my problematic root canal teeth and went to Dr. Castillo for the extraction. I believe she did a good job, no swelling no infection (it's been three days so far). The reason I like Dr. Castillo is she cares about her patients. I texted her on her emergency phone and she was really helpful. I am going to get an implant in 3-6 months and will report on that as well. read more

I feel ok "sharing" Dr. Castillo now that I realized I can just make my appointments six months in advance! She is awesome. Unlike any other dentist I've ever been to, she personally takes care of pretty much the entire visit including cleaning. Other dentists normally just make a two minute cameo appearance where they take a quick look in your mouth and say, "You should floss more." read more

Dr. Castillo has been my primary dentist for 5+ years. She has always been reliable, responsible and extremely professional. Her facility is clean and conveniently located, and her staff are all very nice and well trained. Lately I had a gum graft surgery. She explained the procedure to me with great details, reiterated post-surgical instructions, and scheduled a couple of follow-ups to keep track of recovery. During my recovery, I was able to reach her to discuss immediate questions or concerns, which was reassuring. Overall I have great experience visiting Dr. Castillo and her office. read more

As a younger patient that had major peridontal work done to his front teeth, I have been extremely happy with the results as well as extremely happy along each step of the surgical journey. Dr. Castillo was very professional and went above and beyond to address my concerns and worries. I felt comfortable in her office with her talented staff. Most imporantly, the results have been perfect. People have complicated my teeth, without knowing serious surgical work happened! read more

Dr Castillo is an excellent dentist & periodontist. She is a superlative skilled professional. I was nervous but she immediately put me ease with her kind demeanor. I want to thank you Dr. Castillo for being so diligent. I had to fix my crown that was done seven years ago. So I called Dr. Castillo right away. She was really kind to answer my call and able to book me for the next day appointment. The procedure was done very well. For twelve years, she is still my doctor. Unbelievable right? I am very grateful for having Dr. Castillo as my primary dental care physician. She is very professional with a lot of work experience, care about their patients which is very important and most of all trustworthy, kind, and efficient. Not to mention her brand new office with latest technology and friendly staffs. read more

My experience was ok over all. I was referred to the office by a friend, when I made my appointment I asked if they participated in my plan, which is MetLife PPO. They said yes, they lied; I ended up paying close to 50% of the total charges. Moreover, I had some dental fillings and the space between my teeth became hard to floss, so I brought up this to Dr. Yiselle and was dismissed. Otherwise, I was treated well, my appointments were pleasant. MY point is if they lied about their plan participation what prevents them from lying about what procedures I needed. I am not sure. I say they lie, don't go to them. One's health is not something you can compromise. read more

After reading other reviews on Yelp, I visited Dr. Castillo today with an emergency chipped tooth. After a quick examination, I was informed that it was only a chipped old filling and was easy to remedy. Dr. Castillo walked me through the procedure beforehand and also during the procedure (step by step). I was pleasantly surprised how easy, quick and pain free the process was (did I mention that I don't like dentists by default ). It's possible that I found my NY dentist in Dr Castillo however. Excellent technical skills, perfect chair side manner and lots of advise for post filling care. For all who have dentist phobia (like I did), this is the dentist for you. read more

Dr. Castillo has been my dentist as well as my family's provider for most of my life. As a patient since childhood, and now as an adult, I can say with confidence I would never go anywhere else. She truly is a master at what she does and I am at ease from the second I arrive in the office, during my appointment, and when I leave. She takes her time explaining my oral health/status and is thorough in answering any questions. Her staff is friendly and professional, they too are thorough in answering any questions or concerns I may have about scheduling and insurance. I would highly recommend Dr. Castillo if you are in the market for a new dentist or periodontist! read more
