The worst service and worst food I have ever eaten and cheap they put soya sauce in little cups bland tasteless. Loaded with rice and charged me $5 for sweet and sour sauce extra for breaded shrimp just a joke .the breaded shrimp is as hard as a rock I will never step foot in their again. Finally made it to Yin's after years of hearing how great it was. Thoroughly disappointed! The food was very bland and quite expensive for the amount you get. Average at best. Waited an extra 40 minutes after they told us our pick-up time. Finally got our order and after watching everyone get offered handfuls of fortune cookies we seemed to be pushed out the door with no offer or chance to ask. The only reason they got 3 stars is the fact they called 2 hours after to apologize for the wait. Will NOT be going back. read more

Excellent General Tao (best in Norfolk) and Chicken Fried Rice. Let the egg rolls set for a couple minutes, in order to drain the oil properly. Waitresses are friendly, fast, and courteous - and yes I wrote waitresses. I think once there was a male server, but that's was a long time ago, in a galaxy far away. Best to get a take out, as the decor was updated mid-90s (updated poorly) and has not been altered. They serve burgers and fries (etc.) - but why anyone would go to the only Chinese restaurant for KMs to get those, is beyond my comprehension. read more

This is an abbreviated account but still long. We called in a deluxe dinner for two for pick-up. This requires us to choose an app from a list and a main from another list. So we chose spring rolls and general tao. We understood the hour wait and I arrived on time. The young man who sounded like the person that took our order said the computer only had an order for spring rolls and general tao. I said ok, how long will it be to make the deluxe dinner for two (rice, veggies etc)? He said 20 minutes and I said sure, I'll wait. He said he'd just add on the dinner for two. then asked me to pay now, and rang up a total that was far too high. I asked how much is the deluxe dinner for two... he said your total is $54?? I said no that's too high. You've guessed. He was not just kicking in the wasted food, not apologizing but charging us for the food that would be cold plus the hot food. I explained that this was not my mistake and I should not have to pay extra. He insisted it wasn't his mistake but the computer sometimes "glitches". I explained it isn't my computer, so not my responsibility. He repeats $54.??! Then I explained that I could just walk away and the original order would be garbage. He just repeated $54.??!! louder and louder each time. (Not in an angry but assertive way) I asked him to get someone else. He spent about 3 minutes (felt like 10) in the kitchen speaking loudly and came out saying they would make us a new dinner for two and we would just pay for that. I went for a walk and came back 15 minutes later, he darted out the door with the food (I didn't get a change to go in). I was about 5 minutes away before I thought to check it. Yup. After living in several cities, I've come to realize that there's no place that serves Chinese food quite like Yins in Waterford! Growing up with Yins in my small town, I didn't appreciate how good the food was until I moved away and haven't been able to find Chinese food that quite matches the quality, quantity and tastiness of Yins! The lunch specials are particularly of great value, including 4 choices of Chinese food, such as lemon chicken, sweet and sour chicken balls, chicken with vegetables and almonds, wontons, etc. plus a spring roll or egg roll and a drink, for less than $10. The plate is massive, and there is usually enough food to take home for dinner! If you're travelling through Waterford, or from the surrounding area, stop in at Yins on Waterford's main street. I've been here numerous times and it's a great Chinese restaurant. I recommend their beef with mushrooms, it's always delicious. General Tao's chicken is really good as well. The service is great here and there is a variety of items to choose from so everyone can find something to eat. The prices are very reasonable as well so this is a lovely restaurant to visit if you're in the area. read more

Review is for Port Dover Yins. Name has changed to Yins from old resturant. I have heard they are the same owners??? Take out food was terrible. This must not have been freshly cooked. Hands down the best Chinese food in the area! The lunch special on mon, tues, thurs and Friday is a great deal. Basically a full plate of food for 9-10 dollars. Take out is quick and the prices are not bad Even their burgers taste great! Recommend to everyone! read more

What a find! An excellent Cantonese Chinese restaurant buried in the small town of Waterford. Hubby had found it on one of his road trips and now he was bringing the whole family. They serve your food from steaming woks right to your table. Reasonable prices, lots of seating. The TV set up in the corner is old and the place looks like it is, a restaurant that has been patronized and loved forever. Oh, believe me, it's worth the drive to Waterford! my daughter and i drove 2 1/2 hours to go to Yins for what we were told was the best chinese food ever....our order was $110.00 ...this was 11:30 am sunday morning.....what a huge disappointment.....i swear that half our order was warmed up from saturday nights left overs.....i threw my entire order in the garbage.......the rice was burnt, the egg foo young was nothing but a ton of waterchestnuts and very large hunks of onion....could barely find the egg....total let down....i must say that serving day old food to customers is so wrong...and the food was full of grease.....such a long drive and so much money for the order to go in the garbage........i guarantee that there is no tale here...my name is kim and i can be reached at 226 289-2615 if any more details are needed...... read more
