Unfortunately, the Music City is not the place for quality boba. I was craving a sense of familiarity and home and went on an online hunt for the best boba in Nashville. All signs pointed to Yin Yang Tea. Scanning their menu and reviews, things looked and sounded super promising! I went with their Nagasaki Milk Tea with boba which is described as having a honey green flavor. Being from SoCal, I've definitely been conditioned to be a bit of a boba snob. This drink was really not great. I ordered it 25% sweet and yet it tasted like sugary milk with a hint of tea flavor. The boba balls were also half hard. We stopped by Yin Yang on the way home from a late Target trip. I don't know if there was more than one person working but we only saw one employee. We weren't greeted or acknowledged when we came in. We ordered at kiosks, which I wasn't a fan of. This was our first visit so I'm not sure if this is how it always is but we had questions and the employee had gone to the back. The drinks came out quickly and they looked good but mine was way too sweet. It would have been nice to ask questions about sweetness levels before ordering. I preferred the brown sugar because the flavors were smooth and I'm just a huge brown sugar fan. I've been to Yin Yang Tea on several occasions now and it's time I give them a proper well-deserved review. I usually order the lychee or mango fruit tea and request the sweetness level to be 25%. I have a huge sweet tooth, but I find the drinks to be too sweet if you order at normal sweetness. 25% is perfect for me. I sampled other unique milk teas like the Okinawa and Hokkaido and thought they were nicely fragrant. Crystal boba is my topping. I've been wanting to check this place out since it opened. I signed up as fast as I could to the Yelp Hootenanny event so I can try their teas. Nashville is in great need of more bubble tea places. They have screens where you can order you bubble tea. There's so many choices and I can't wait to go back and try them all. Taro blended: I love taro smoothies. I ordered 50% sweetness and it was still sweet so now I'm curious to see what 100% tastes like. Taro tends to be starchy ( it is a root after all), but it's always my go to pick when I go to a bubble tea place. Okinawa milk tea: super milky and has a brown sugar flavor. I also want to say it reminded me of butterscotch taste to it. Lemon tea: surprisingly floral and sugary! Again, I put in 50% and it's super sweet. The cashier was super nice. Parking is free for 15 minutes and there's two spots out front. Don't forget to register at the kiosk. There's outdoor seating but tbh idk if it's for the restaurant next door or for Yin Yang.
