I've always found the staff to be very friendly too, even having a laugh and a joke with customers. I ate here last Saturday evening, we were a party of 4 and had booked a table. We arrived a little early, the restaurant was very busy and we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. The staff couldn't be more apologetic and gave us two rounds of drinks on the house! Great customer service, we'd have gone back anyway as the food is so good, but it was a nice touch!

I found this very disconcerting. Even though the restaurant was empty, when two parties came in after us, the staff decided to seat them all next to us. So what started as as lovely quiet meal became a meal where you felt like you were eating out of each other's laps! We were very disappointed at the end of our meal to find the table next to us being given an all you can eat menu, something which we had not been offered at all. This all you can eat menu was far better value than eating off the al'a carte menu. Parking is not a problem. Side access road outside restaurant and lots of residential streets nearby.

The hostess scrutinized us one by one and said, I'm sorry, you can't dine here without a Thai. Pleased with my Red Curry w prawns. Creamy, not watery or oily. Huge Bauta size prawns with perfect texture. A good spice blend throughout. But, I didn't really like eggplant in the curry, it doesn't work. Don't typically see green beans in the curry, but it was fine. I hate having to pay extra for white rice, but it is what it is. The pad Thai was good, but feel they made a mistake by putting the chili on the side. I know its not supposed to be a spicy dish, but requested it a bit spicy and they just put spices on the side. The dish needs to cook with the chili to give it flavor. £15 minimum if you want to pay by card.

Much better than some well known Thai restaurants in central London. All good food served piping hot and sooo soo tasty!! I fancied Thai at short notice and was able to make a reservation at 8pm for 8.30pm with no problem. I recommend everything I had; starters- prawn and chicken toast, duck Spring rolls. Mains- green curry and the chefs recommended Goong Chu Chee (special deep fried river prawns top with Thai red curry sauce) with egg Fried rice. We ended up ordering another portion of egg fried rice. The mains portions are generous. We had a lot of green curry left and ended up drinking it with the soup spoon provided...Delicious!! The prawns were amazing in the red Thai curry.

They are all in cahoots! Very nice ambiant interior, clean, spacious, Chinese love songs in the background. But a bit drafty. Looks look the building used to be an old pub. Start off with the tasty complimentary prawn crackers and a red sauce. The mixed seafood soup was good, not at first, but it grows on you. It's a mix of mussels, shrimp, squid and vegetables. For main course had chicken Sezchuan and Cumin lamb. The odd mushrooms with the Sezchuan sauce was a strange choice that doesn't make sense. And no broccoli. Which for me is fine. I'm with George Bush on this one. The cumin lamb had somewhat of a spice imbalance. Too much cumin powder and too much flour coating. But very flavorful and a large size portion. You dim sum, you lose sum.

The duck is very nice as are the skewers. The desert selection isn't the greatest as the ice cream is tasteless and bland though the chocolate cake is nice. Low and behold... it turned out to be a whole lotta nuttin' to write home to mom about. Mediocre food amidst a lot of foxtrot wisky tango (as Jenny would say it)... I didn't think it was possible for people with british accents to be so trashy. The whole time I was in the establishment, I was baraged by elbows and leering looks from the overweight man the next table over who keeps leaning over to read the magazine I had in my hand. When I look up at him, he was unphased and gave me a little knowing nod... ewwwww. Seriously? Get me the heck out of here ASAP. I would put up with this behavior only if the food was good. Unfortunately, the food is bad and the waitresses are bitchy. If you are craving lots of mediocre to bad Chinese food, look no further than Tai Pan. As for me, I'm not going back again, thank you very much.
