I got YGF Malatang and it was so good. You get to customize your own bowl, which is the best part: they have hella options, so you can really load it up exactly how you want. Everything came out flavorful and satisfying, and the whole experience was quick and smooth. If you like being able to mix and match ingredients, this spot is definitely it. Only downside is parking is limited, so that part can be a little annoying, but honestly the food makes up for it. Service was fast and efficient, and the ambiance was modern, clean, and lively, making it a great spot to eat in. Would 100% come back.

Came here hungover on New Years Day. Props to being open. Soup hit the spot. Managed to only spend $10 also came out rather quick. Minus one star for the loud music selection. There's this opera song that played multiple times. Good amount of parking. Apple directions sent us to the back of it originally

One of the best places in dtla for hot pot. The place is cozy and warm with lots of students and younger people enjoying food and having conversations. The food comes out piping hot just as you want on a cold winter night. You put as much veggies and meats and toppings as you want. They will weight by the pound. However at $14.99 per pound it is a steal. They also have noodles and different types of meats to choose from. Once they eight the bowl, you can choose your broth. We went with the beef broth medium spicy and it was just perfect! Staff was friendly and fats with service. Parking is pretty good as went came on Sunday at 5pm. It can get busy I'm sure. The broth was creamy and flavorful.

I was craving soup and needed a hot pot fix, so we swung by this spot. Called ahead and they said they're open until 3am (even though it says 2am online), perfect for a late-night broth emergency. You grab an empty bowl and some tongs, load it up with whatever you want, then they weigh ($14.99/lb) your ingredients and cook it in the broth you pick (or turn it into a dry pot). You can pick no spicy if you're a spice wuss or pick level of spicy you want. Veggies were clean and so many options The food hit the spot, exactly what I wanted. The vibe is very casual, and the place was packed around 9pm, mostly with Asian diners, which is usually a good sign the flavors are legit. There's a small parking lot right in front with free parking, which makes life a lot easier. I'll definitely be back.

Y G F Malatang near USC is known for its fresh ingredients, customizable build your own hot pot and dry pot. I like their popular Beef Bone Broth; it is rich and flavorful. I also order the Spicy Dry Mix bowl. Other broths include the Tomato and Mushroom. You have the option to customizable the spice levels. They have a D I Y sauce bar for personalized dipping sauces including ponzu, sesame and so on. I love their noodles, meats like beef, pork, lamb, veggies, seafood options. Cost is by weight. It is a popular spot for a hearty, personalized meal. They open late. And is a perfect late night study spot.

My favorite thing about this place is that there wasn't a minimum amount of weight I had to hit so I was able to actually get the amount of food I wanted to eat! There were a lot of marinated meat selection which was really cool and it's a fairly clean place! The only downside I saw was the bathroom, we weren't allowed to flush anything so the tissue papers (that were used) was just thrown in the trash can, which is very very unsanitary. It's mostly self service, you even pick up your own bowl.

I've loved malatang ever since I lived in China and I missed this soup so much after leaving. I was incredibly happy to finally experience it again. 10 out of 10

Such a solid, authentic build-your-own hot pot spot right in the USC area. They had so many meat and veggie options. Everything was super fresh and there was a bustling line even at an off-peak time. The workers were super friendly and explained how the filling and weighing process works to me and my friend super thoroughly. I particularly loved all the different mushroom options. I got the classic soup base and lots of cabbage, a tea egg, brisket, konjac noodles and so much more. Definitely be mindful with your strategy that everything costs the same based on weight, no matter if it's veggies or meat. The sauce bar was also stacked and I made a ponzu based sweet sauce and a spicy savory sesame vinegar sauce. Next time I would def get a big bowl and share instead of each getting our own bowl because my eyes are definitely bigger than my stomach and we filled our bowls UP!

I love build your own malatang places like this! $15/pound and you can put as much or as little as you want. There is such a large variety of meats, veggies, noodles, anything you can think of! I also love that a bowl of rice is only $1! This place opens late, which is perfect for USC students looking for a meal. I came around midnight on a weekday and the place still had a good amount of people! Not packed but there were consistent customers. The staff were nice and I saw them explaining in much detail the process of how this works with other customers.

Spicy beef bone broth is so good! I go here literally every week because the broths are so healing and your ingredients are customizable to your preferences. Only caveat is that the interior is a little dirty - the floors aren't mopped very well.

Food was fresh and flavorful, especially the soup base which had a rich and spicy taste without being too oily. The ingredients were fresh, portions were generous, and the staff was friendly and efficient. The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere. Great spot near USC for a satisfying meal. Would definitely come back again!

I didn't realize there is a YGF near USC campus until my Chinese friend told me about it. The location is a few stops on Dash F. The food is as good as other YGF. It's priced by lbs. The stock is full when I went. They always restock the ingredients. The restaurant is a bit small but it's packed with seatings. It's self-service. Very delicious!

We had two orders of slippery shrimp, kung pao chicken, eggplants with hot and spicy garlic sauce, juicy steamed dumplings, and pork fried rice. Overall, both restaurants in Chinatown and Pasadena provide great food quality. The ambience was cozy with dim lighting. Our round table had a wooden rotating tray. They have pictures of celebrities and politicians who've visited their restaurant. Service was relatively quick, but there was a 20-minute wait for the dumplings. Valet parking can get difficult when the lot gets full. A few cars entering the narrow driveway had to reverse out of the way to let others leave. The kung pao chicken was very tasty with a good amount of spice. I noticed that the slippery shrimp didn't taste as spicy as the portion from Pasadena. Reviews say that the spice is adjustable. Regardless. it tasted great as it came right off the pan. The pork fried rice was delicious with a savory flavor that didn't seem overpowering. I thought the juicy steamed dumplings were the weakest dish out of our whole order. There wasn't enough flavor and heat from the broth. I didn't try much of the eggplants, but they tasted adequate for me.

Anything you can eat you any night you don't have to cook is usually a great night out. This evening was no exception. Our waitress was kind and accommodating. Everything was prepared wonderfully and had tremendous flavor. I recommend trying their Hui Tou, stuffed with pork or beef, pork and leek pancakes, they also have vegetarian options. Their pork shumai was delicious, xiao long bao's soup dumplings were flavorful. Delicious. I definitely need a second trip here to try their soups and more of their variety of dumplings.

Our go-to dishes are the cucumber salad (refreshing and perfectly crunchy), green scallion pancakes (especially good with the chili sauce), pork shumai (better than Din Tai Fung imo), and the spicy pork wontons. On our most recent visit, we tried the sesame noodles, and I've been daydreaming about them ever since. The staff is always friendly and attentive, the vibes inside are great, and there's a solid drink selection with cocktails, draft beer, and bottled options. And the price point? Outrageously reasonable, especially in this economy. Consistently delicious food, great service, and incredible value. Highly recommend!

The restaurant workers looked more organized vs this location that has more of a traditional Chinese vibe, slightly tired building, not particularly clean, service feels a bit rushed and sloppy. We went there for Thanksgiving Dinner and it wasn't packed but we went at the opening time and the people kept coming. 90% looked Chinese which also speaks for the authenticity.

Cotat is one of the most iconic Sancerre producers, and because his wines are built to age, finding a 2007 vintage on the menu here was a massive treat.
