On May 13th, I placed an order with Appliances Connection, which I mistakenly found through a search engine instead of the similarly named company in Woodbridge, Virginia. I only discovered this mistake when I went to look on Yelp to leave this poor review and found that nearly all of that company's negative reviews appear to be people mistakenly leaving poor reviews for this company.
The short version of the story is that it took over a month to receive the washer and dryer that I ordered, communication about the delivery was terrible. I'm leaving this review on both the shipping company (YF Logistics) and on Appliances Connection's Yelp pages, because I feel like they are essentially the same company, or Appliance Connections continues to utilize a shipping company that it should know is terrible.
I do want to be clear that the two men who delivered my washer and dryer were courteous, considerate of not damaging my walls or carpet, and did give a few tips about setting up the washer and dryer.
May 13, I placed an order on the wrong company's web site. And on the order page there was a selection chose to "delay shipping", which I mistakenly read as "delay delivery". These were my mistakes. I delayed the shipping to June 11th, as that would be the earliest that I could take delivery at my new home.
Appliances Connection sent me an email explaining that 24-48 hours before the delivery I'd be contacted by the shipping company to arrange for delivery window to be set up.I called Appliances Connection and asked about if my washer and dryer would be delivered the following day. It was explained they were "on the truck". June 11th, still no call from the shipping company. The day comes and goes. I call back on the 12th, same answer they're "on the truck". I call back on the 14th. I get someone who explains my earlier error, about delaying shipping, not delivery, and that delivery happens 7-14 days after shipping, so it'll be the 18th at the earliest. I asked if my washer and dryer were "on the truck" or not, this person said that they'd have no way of knowing that, since it'd be up to the shipping company.
Doing a bit of search engine work, I found the phone number for YT Logistics, call them, provided the tracking number, and the lady who answered the phone asked me for when I would like my washer and dryer delivered, as if they had just been waiting for my call. I said "as soon as possible, please". She explained that my "route" was filled for the week, but it could be out the following Monday (the 5th of July). Terrific, I tell her.
I receive a text message saying the delivery will be on Monday the 5th between 2pm and 6pm. Fine. Later the same day, another text message, saying it'll be Tuesday the 6th at the same times, whatever, then a third text message saying Tuesday the 6th, between 5pm and 9pm. At this point, I don't really care about the possibility that I'll have to have major appliances delivered to my house so late in the day. 9pm on the 6th comes and goes, YT Logistics is closed for the evening to figure out what the story is. The following day, I call and ask to know what's up. It's explained to me that there are Department of Transportation laws that prohibit their drivers for being on the road for so many hours, and a couple of deliveries went long.
I ask if I'll be receiving my delivery today, in no uncertain terms, I'm told, yes, that's the case. A few hours later, I call back, just wanting to know what time window I should be expecting the delviery, so I can make sure that I'm home at that time. This person puts me on hold, comes back with an apology, and explains that there must have been some communication issues, because I won't be receiving my washer and dryer today at all, it'll be the following week. I explain the situation, ask why not today, he goes on to explain that all of the other deliveries this week are not going to get bumped back because they missed one. I said I was unhappy about that, he explained, in fairly polite terms, that YT Logistics wasn't going to make dozens of other customers unhappy to make me happy.
I call Appliances Connection thinking that maybe there is something that they could do. I suggested that I'd just cancel the order if I didn't get my washer and dryer the following week, and then order them from some other company. The lady explained to me that my return window was from 30 days from date of invoice, which had passed. My "return window" has passed? I don't even have the damned washer and dryer to be able to "return" it.
That weekend, I received more tracking information about the delivery being on Monday, July 13th. The washer and dryer arrived in that time window, the guys delivering it did a fine job, and I'm now doing laundry in them, they're great. I'm posting this in the hopes that if you're considering doing business with Appliances Connection or YT Logistics, that you take a hard pass. read more
