You get to drive through the park and see most of the animals you can see for free at Yellowstone. When you are driving through the bear area, you must have your windows rolled up and there's no stopping. The bears were not ver mobile when we went. They were all pretty small in size. It's probably a much better experience for children. We were three adults and paid around $66 bucks to drive through the park. I spoke to several employees who stated that Bear World does not pay as stated. They also have to sign a waiver of liability, which exempts the park from paying for any injuries to employees. This needs to be corrected! The animals seem to be fed the wrong diet of grocery store leftovers of meat and bread. Where are the vegetables and other necessary vitamins? Why is no one in our government policing this establishment? There seemed to be several classic cars on the property; when asked, I was told they belonged to the owner. What a great experience! During the summer months be sure to come early in the day to do the drive through the bear enclosure - they hunker down after noon. Lots to see including moose, deer and elk. On our way to YNP we saw billboard signs for Bear World. My kid told us his teacher went there and loved it. We looked up info on the place and quickly decided to make it part of our drive-home plans. This became a parenting win because our kids had a blast. We saw many bears up close, as well as other wild animals like white elk, bison, etc. The petting zoo has pigs, deer and goats. The small carnival rides were fun for all. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. They also had food/snacks for sale as well. We spent quite a bit of the day there and our kids got all their energy out to make for a quiet and pleasant drive home. I'm pretty sure it was their favorite part of the whole trip. I came with friends who had a pass. If not it is pretty pricey, I think it was about $125 for a vehicle with 7 people in it. You drive through the park and se the animals. The person in front of us didn't follow the rules at all. You aren't supposed to stop or open your windows; they kept doing both. You can go through another time if you would like. At the end you can walk through the shop, go into the petting zoo, watch people fees the baby bears or go on rides. If you want to fees the baby bears (which are extremely cute!!!) it is a pretty penny at $75 a person and you have to reserve this weeks if not a month in advance. I loved the baby bears! I'd prefer no stars but have to give 1. There is nothing educational or enriching to these animals lives that I saw - they take the cubs away from the mothers and move them into a pen near the gift shop and charge the general public $75 a pop to bottle feed them. There was a 2 or 3 day old fawn in the petting zoo area that was trying to nurse from its mother while mostly unsupervised children attempted to pet and disrupt it for photos. In the drive-thru wildlife area there were young adult/teenage employees riding around on a "park ranger" atv who would stop and get out to pet the fully-grown bears. This place is seemingly nothing more than a tourist trap that only cares about profit - if you want to see what a true wildlife park should look like, then go to the Discovery Center in West Yellowstone. read more

Don't be fooled by the fact that the animals are roaming. They are NOT treated well. "Guaranteed bear sighting!" How do you think they guarantee it? They severely limit the amount of shelter there is for the animals. I went with some family members in the summer and there were countless bears unable to cool down, panting profusely. Before the "bear" section, there's a section with other North American animals. I've attached a picture of a white elk that had extreme pits and scabs. Then, after the short drive-through, there's a "petting zoo" and spot where they have young bear cubs kept away from their mothers, put on display for the tourists. There were several bear cubs who were clearly distraught, pacing back and forth, but I could not bring myself to take a photo of them. However, you can easily find a video of the very scene I'm talking about on the internet. You can also pay to pet and hold the cubs, which you should NOT do EVER. This is nothing like a safari, it is not beneficial for the animals, and the owners of "Bear World" are making a profit off of this. Oh, and yeah. Fun stop if your driving thru on a road trip. Just right off the highway. My grand kids loved driving through the park! Then we walked through the other exhibits, fed the fish, rode all the rides, visited the Dino park and then rode through the park again as we left. It is expensive however all the rides and new Dino park are included in the price. It's especially nice that you can drive through their open animal park more than once before you leave for the day. The beats are everywhere in their section and they often are sitting by the road, crossing the road or walking down the roads for close up views. read more

Bear World is incredibly cruel. Not only are the bears visibly panting all day, but the babies are taken from their mothers and obviously stressed. The drive through is a nice novelty, but when you see the babies inside the facility there is no question about the cruelty. We saw a baby black bear pacing for the entire 45 minutes we were there, and at one point it was shocked by the fence. Even the children around us made comments about how stressed the babies looked, as well as the shock it received. I wish I knew the history of Bear World before attending. This place is cool. Watch cubs wrestle and big trout splash in the water. Plus they have rides that don't cost more money or to tickets and yes, you get to pet a deer. RAD drive-thru bear attraction...it's located an hour south of West Yellowstone, in Rexburg. Prices are fair, 25$ per adult, and 12$ per child between 6-11. The drive inside the park is short, but you are allowed to enter multiple times on your visit. Bears are free to roam about the fenced park. Bear World can be divided into two sections; the main event is a drive-thru section with roaming bears (in some cases roaming right on the road in front of you) that takes about 5-10 minutes. Then there's an area that you can explore on foot, featuring an enclosure with some bear cubs, a few low key kiddie carnival-type rides, and a petting zoo featuring small deer, goats, etc..My 5 year old really enjoyed himself - especially with the carnival rides and petting zoo, which I'd say he was peak enjoyment age for. A word of caution on the driving loop - navigation can be very tricky especially if you've never been before. There's a whole network of roads to potentially take with no directional signs. I learned the hard way after being firmly dressed down at the exit that there's a path you're SUPPOSED to take, which is by no means obvious. A map of the route is provided, but between being the only adult present, trying to focus on not running Yogi over, and adhering to the "no stopping at any time" guidelines, it's essentially impossible for the driver to simultaneously navigate. So I would recommend traveling with a second adult or capable map reader to help with navigation, assuming they don't plan on investing in signage anytime soon. Overall, I wouldn't plan an entire trip around Bear World, but it makes for a fun side excursion for a couple of hours, especially if you're coming to/from Yellowstone and have preschool to early elementary age kiddos in tow. read more

This place was so freaking cool. I had heard about this place from my son so my wife and I drove up from Meridian and was not disappointed. First, the place is so clean and well kept up, I was not expecting it to be that nice. Second, the staff was amazing and so friendly. We had reserved to feed the baby cubs and the ladies that helped do the feeding were great. Super informative and friendly. I love bears, they are one of my favorite animals and to be able to feed and pet them was surreal. I highly recommend it to anyone that loves bears. I went to college nearby and heard bear world was expensive so I never went. Many years later my husband said let's go. You start by driving through the map and then you can go to the center. Driving through is amazing. We saw the ranger lady hugging the bears. We saw there bears get fed bread and they seem so calm. We saw MANY black bears walking around and up close. There's got to be at least 50 bears. Then at the center we saw the baby cubs, they start letting the public feed the baby bears Memorial Day and they are sold out till August. The petting zoo is amazing. I am sure people like feeding the bears but it would be nice to have them with their moms. That is so sad for me as a mom. I'm curious about that. We were staying about 30 minutes from the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park, so we decided to drive another hour south one morning to be able to see the bear up close. First, there are no wolves to see unfortunately. The drive through the area took less than 10 minutes as you are not allowed to stop your car. You cannot roll your windows down as the black bears can get very close to the car. The grizzly bears are behind a fence, but you are able to get relatively close. All the bears seemed bored and frustrated - pacing back and forth. There are way too many bears for the space allotted. After seeing bear in Yellowstone National Park it's sad to see them so confined. The petting zoo area had an enclosure where you could see some baby bears playing which was very cute to watch. In the petting zoo there were several animals to interact with - which would likely be very enjoyable for small children. They also had a couple amusement rides for small children. Overall, I'm glad I got to see bear up close but don't think I would go again. If you aren't staying near by or have young children, your money and time is probably better spent driving through the northern part of Yellowstone National Park where you can likely see bear in their natural habitat. read more

Bear world is a super fun place to spend your time especially if you have kids! Their season passes are also more than worth it so you can go as often as you want. It is a little pricey but that's because there is a lot to do you can easily spend a few hours here. The drive through the bears is super fun and up close, they don't want you to stop but you can drive through the loop as many times as you would like. They have a fun dinosaur area for the kids to play and get some energy out. They have several fun rides as well there. Nice big gift shop. And the petting zoo is fun but watch out for the geese they are viscous and will attack you and your children. I also love to feed their trout. Great experience for kids and definitely worth the stop. Get the season pass for sure! read more

Attended 10/17/2020 traveling from California It was amazing! $24 per adult, came out to $50 for two people. It was beautiful, contactless and the staff was wearing masks. You can do the driving loop as many times as you want! The establishment did a great job and was able to answer our questions (aka the goat is NOT pregnant but she looks it!) It was an amazing sight to see Moose and Bears since we did not in Yellowstone. The Black Bear Drool fudge... GET IT! The only downside was the looks my S/O and I got from other visitors because we were wearing a mask. Made the end of our experience a little sad, especially with the indirect cussing about masks as we walked by someone. If you didn't get a chance to see your favorite bison-eating grizzly at yellowstone, bear world is totally worth it! You get to see numerous bears in person and up close from your car. You can take multiple rounds of the place, so don't fret if you missed one on your first try. We saw about 20 bears, from small to big. Do get out of your car and go inside to the kiddie common area where they have ice cream because they have some small cubs up close (10 feet) playing around. It seems they spend just enough money to keep their animals alive, other than the fancy entrance signs visible from the freeway. Bear World is a best experience. We go several times a year. We enjoy seeing so many black bears, but sometimes they're lazy/sleeping and we don't see as many roaming around. But we have seen them play in the pond and that was fun! The "teenagers" are the most active and are separate from the older bears. Beautiful elk and deer are in their own large area as well. We have been on the food truck. That's fun and would do that again with visiting friends/family. We fed the babies once. That was an experience. It's cool because it's baby bears, but it's also a little scary because they're hungry little wild animals. One of them put a long scratch on my sisters arm and made her bleed. The staff was very helpful and kind in helping her feel better and cleaning up her arm. It's fun to visit several times each year and see the baby bears grow. They're fun to watch run around and play with each other. We love this place and will continue supporting their endeavors. read more

I go back and forth on my opinion of this place. We had a great time seeing the baby bears and the especially liked the petting zoo part with the goats, deer, and all of the different kinds of chickens. The actual drive through portion was a little disappointing, I expected more. The price was also a little steep for what you get at nearly $20 per person. The real reason I am torn, is that these are captive bred animals that don't have the quality of life they would have in the wild. However I feel that it is important to have places like this that give people an opportunity to see and appreciate these animals, which leads to better conservation as a society. After going to a place like this, you realize just how awesome these animals are and how much we need to preserve their natural habitats. Unethical. I'd rate it negative stars if possible. It was a last minute add to a family vacation... I didn't research beforehand and I I00% should have. If I had; I would've found out that there are a number of allegations against this EXIBIT. That's right, it's not an accredited Zoo for a reason. A few allegations seem absolutely valid... some animals are limping and look underfed and almost deathly. The cubs are taken from their mothers very young when in the wild they would stay with their mother until 2 years old. The bears are not permitted to climb trees, the trees are wrapped in metal. This is a tiny amount of land for this many animals. There's a train going through next to the amusement park and all the animals. You have to ask yourself if driving within inches of bears is ethical. This is the entertainment you pay for. This is a money making enterprise, nothing more. I hate that this kind of blatant animal abuse is allowed and common in the US. It's disgusting and shameful. It should be shut down. read more

This place was wonderful. Yes it is a zoo. Many reviews were negative of this place. Bears live better here than many zoos I have been too. Much more room to roam too. The staff were all Super Nice. Now be prepared. It is not cheap. Well worth the money we paid. It was an experience that we will probably never do again. We did everything there we could. Yes it adds up.
