    Baja fish tacos
    Rob W.

I was starving after a long run in Chapultepec Park, and was happy to come upon this quick and reasonable spot nearby in Condesa. It was a tad incongruous, tucked on a block with a couple of fancier options with outdoor musicians performing. It honestly reminded me of an East or west village NYC spot catering to college students, from an eclectic menu featuring breakfast all day and several vegan options along with more traditional fare, to a strange but not unappealing mix of mid 90s alt rock and folkier classics (Dylan, Marley) on the radio. I went traditional with the Baja fish tacos, which were very good, with ample fresh cabbage, red pepper and avocado strips. I like that they let you control your sauce addition as well. Outdoor seating area was sublime, under a giant tree, and kudos for brewing their own beer--tried an Irish red before leaving which was solid. Fun find, worth a visit for a quick, tasty bite.

shakshuka so good and a light breakfast!

Pro tip- order the USDA prime beef fillet tacos with Parisian sauce, it's off menu. The American Legion Post #2 in Mexico, established in 1920, has been located since the early 1960s in an ornate early 20th-century building at 25 Celaya, Condesa. After World War I, over 70,000 combat veterans moved to Mexico City to start a new life and escape the pains of war. Seventeen of these veterans decided to form the American Legion in Mexico City, as shown in the enclosed photo. Eventually, they settled on a building which used to be a brothel. Visit the second floor and terrace to see the rooms frequented by the Johns. It is not clear what connection these veterans had to the brothel, which was nicknamed "Lover's Roost."

We had the steak tacos prior to a tequila tasting at the top level. We also tried their smoky margaritas, which were delightfully refreshing.

We got the cacio e Pepe, zanahorias (roasted carrots) with zatar spices, and hummus with garlic bread. I would recommend all of these, because every dish blew us away. The service was also incredible. Our server was so sweet and attentive, and made sure that we got new silverware and our wine glasses were full (without pressure). Would love to come back here one day!

They have a great selection of mezcal - my friends raved about one called Huico. -The mezze appetizer was delicious! The beet puree, falafel, & eggplant dip paired perfectly with the flavourful naan-like bread. -The ambiance and set up of the space was neat. The restaurant houses an upstairs area for private dining, a full bar, as well as a cute lounge-y area to enjoy dessert. CONS -There were no vegetarian entrees offered on the menu. -The meat based main dishes that my friends ordered were lacklustre. Everyone agreed that the drinks and appetizers started our meal off great but that the entrees were disappointing in comparison. -The dessert was eh. We tried one of each (baklava, cannolis, and tahini mousse) but none stood out to me as noteworthy. I would definitely give dinner another shot here if there was a switch up of the mains + inclusion of at least one plant-based entree.

My friend and I decided to go with the full on experience by going with the 6-course Chef's Tasting Menu by Chef de Cuisine Olivier Mendez. We made the right choice! We also accompanied the food with a bottle of LOMAALTA's Malbec from Mendoza, Argentina that made our tasting experience that much better. Everything from the tasting menu was impeccable. I found the beetroot pizza and glazed short rib to be my two favorite dishes. The beetroot pizza was made with cured homemade duck breast and arugula fresh goat cheese. The glazed short rib was made with potato mousse line, kale and a sorrel 3oz. I'm very glad we went with this 6-course tasting menu. We sure did get a taste of the best. The following day we decided to return for lunch after having an awesome dinner experience. Our server recommended us the Avocado pizza which was absolutely delicious! That is one dish I could eat everyday. Very light, fresh and tasty. If the weather is crisp and not too cold then I would recommend sitting outside! The view was pleasant. Well done Chef Olivier!
