I wish I could give Yellow Cab a rating out of 5, but when a cab doesn't pick you up on multiple events, it's difficult to even give them one star. The mission and vision of this company is convenience over customer loyalty. Rather than picking up a customer who has an account number, they would prefer to pick up the nearest bystander. In the last two instances I have tried to use them this month, both times I waited an hour to end up taking an alternative route home. To make matters even worse, at the 30 minute point I called to inquire about my cab to the receiving end of apathy and a lack of resolution. To make matters even worse, I stopped 5 Yellow Cabs en route and they all asked where I was going, deemed it "not far enough" (downtown to olympic village) and refused my ride. Having used taxi chits all over the country for business travel, this is the FIRST company I have had difficulty finding a ride. I have a series of next steps in place to publicize my dissatisfaction and reduce their customer base. For anyone reading this review, my biggest recommendation is to go with Black Top Cabs. I have had more success having them take me home, regardless of the distance or cost. read more

The reservation for yellow cab is completely pointless, they will make you wait regardless of the time you scheduled. You might as well flag down a cab yourself! When I got in the cab there were no complaints. Just your typical cab service. If you're staying in downtown Vancouver, I would recommend just walking. Everything worth seeing in downtown is walking distance. read more

Absolutely horrible. Don't bother pre-booking they don't show up! Booked hours in advance....had to call twice and got the same story 10 mins away....that 10 mins away was over an hour....if they cannot commit to the pre-booking option then don't offer that service! read more

Possibly one of the worst experiences EVERY!!!! I usually travel in Australia and USA- over half my year is spent travelling do business. Decided to vacation in Vancouver and organised a taxi to collect us from Downtown. 4 adults with 4 medium suitcases. I booked online for a 5am pick up. We waited till 5:10am and out of the blue while I was calling the yellow cab company a small Taxi arrived. I asked if he was the booking as I requested a van for 4 suitcases and also 4 adults. I called the company eventually and they request to cancel push 1 and to speak to operator press 0 - which I bet you guess I pushed 1 and cancelled in my fury. I called back and eventually got through and spoke to the operator who did not even apologise or respond. STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY. All I can say the only saving grace was the driver who rocked up out of the blue. He was just fantastic. It was a miracle how he fitted al 4 bags albeit I had one on my lap and my knees in my chin. Anyway - we did arrive at the airport on time but thumbs down for this company read more

Will never use their service since they hired horrible people. One of the yallow cab driver followed after me into the gas station, and cut me through while I am try to park near one of the gas pump. He cut me over by drove opposite direction, parked between two pumps and took over the space of both gas pumps. Which forced me backing up. His licence plates is 2265 HM. Very rude and disgusting driver. read more

I wish I could give ZERO stars! AVOID CAB # Y 104 AT ALL COSTS This cabbie should not be able to drive! The 15 mins we were in the cab sent my friend into a full blown panic attack. It was the most terrifying drive of my life. 1) Once we told him the address, he started driving but was laughing at us and complaining that he didn't want to bring us so far, and almost tried to get rid of us which I KNOW is not allowed. I also know that shift change is at 4 am, so he had a full hour and is full of bull. 2) UNSAFE DRIVING! IN 15 MINUTES HE: - Ran both a red light and stop sign - Drove so excessively over the speed limit we thought the cab would flip - Skidded his tires on leaves so many times we thought we would end up off the road - Almost ran people over - Sped so fast all the way up Cap road he basically burned away his tires. The burning smell was nauseating. 3) Was RUDE and one of the most disgusting people I've ever dealt with. He kept on laughing as if the situation was preposterous the whole drive, even though I repeatedly told him we really appreciated him bringing us home. This man is a DANGER on the road and should not have a license! read more

I give them zero stars. Horrible experience. Worst drivers, always late. Never again. Ever.

Black Top & Checker Cabs, Vancouver Taxi, Bonny's Taxi, an arthritic St. Bernard, a rickshaw attached to NOTHING, any car sharing a freeway lane with Caitlyn Jenner's -- this is a cursory list of transport I think are worth taking INSTEAD OF Yellow Cab. I honestly believe it would be more valuable to rate your Yellow Cab experience using turd emojis, not stars. In that case, they could take all five, with surplus, and use those extra turds to reupholster their fleet. I gave y'all one star (GENEROUSLY) because my mom raised me right, and because there wasn't an option for fractional - or absolutely zero - stars. Driver told me he didn't want to take my card before I'd gotten in the car, then left AFTER telling me he'd put out a dispatch call for another cab, which - PLOT TWIST - he didn't. 3 lit (Yellow) Cabs passed by and snubbed me in the subsequent 20 mins I spent waiting for this Great Pumpkin-ass replacement car to show up. For all it was worth, I could have put up the fucking bat signal and tried to ride shotgun on Ben Affleck's poor career choices. Y'all can eat a big 'ol bowl of low-calorie, frosted dicks. I'm visiting Vancouver from Edmonton and I miss Uber so much. Twice today I've ordered cabs that have not shown up. Wait times are lengthy. And when I called back to complain and order another cab the first time it wasn't taken seriously. The second dispatcher was friendly, but I'm still sitting here waiting for over 40 minutes. Unacceptable. It's Friday night but they need more cabs on the road. Also the automated text and phone call you receive when your cab arrives has always been delayed for me. I've always been waiting outside at the address that I called a cab to and both cabs never showed up. read more

Why Lyft and Uber aren't available in this world class city is beyond me. Since Yellow Cab is practically the only option here, expect horrible inefficient service. I ordered our taxi online the night before our flight. In the morning, I called after no one showed up. They put me on hold for a long time and when I finally spoke to a representative she told me it was my fault because the booking was for 4:15PM, not AM. Clearly, the screenshot I attached of my reservation says AM. Our cab finally arrived and there's a bit of shadiness going on with the actual metered fair regulated by Vancouver and the large display they use. On the large LED display mounted to the dash, the fair gradually increased faster than the metered fair on the regulated display mounted to the ceiling. Just before arriving to the airport, the driver clears the regulated fair and charges me the higher fair on the large display mounted to the dash. Not cool. read more

Yellow cab is ridiculous unfortunately I have to use them because of where my area is. A majority of the drivers are inconsiderate. Asked for a cab and he came at 319 am I am not going to be waiting outside in the dark at the time I came out at 322 in which they usually call me when they're outside. The driver did not even call to notify that they were outside. Called dispatch operator to make sure another cab was coming told the operator what happened and operator said "You should have been outside waiting and maybe he wouldn't leave next time" and hung up on me when I said that wasn't right. I get it if it was during the day although now I've been told by my current driver we're not required to wait outside anymore and confirmed that drivers do call and if they choose to leave have to notify dispatch first in which this particular driver did not call. Also...it's 3 in the morning I would not be waiting outside at this time. Cab was Y081!!! read more

Came in less than 3min when I called in at 420am. Nice driver. 3 star because this company really needs to sort out its `technical issue`. I prebooked pick up for saturday, yet the driver came on the day I made the reservation instead (friday). Poor driver came for nothing. When I called in, they did not admitted right away about their issue, kept saying it was me being `no-show`, until I told the rep my confirmation#. How many times this 'technical issue' is going to used as a scapegoat?(i saw other people who made the same comment about driver came at the wrong time and day). read more

I very rarely hand out 1-star reviews, so rare that this happens to be my first 1-star review. I really don't like writing negative reviews, but this one had to be written. Over the past couple of years I've had a lot of issues with the taxi industry in Vancouver. I travel quite often and everywhere I've traveled to has other ride share options, which make it so much easier to get around. I wouldn't mind if Vancouver didn't have Uber/Lyft if the taxis were stellar here, but unfortunately they are not. Far from it. There have been numerous occasions that I've called a cab from Yellow Taxi and have been put on hold for 30+ min. There have been other numerous occasions where I've ordered a taxi through the app and it doesn't show up till 40 min later. However, this review has to do with a horrible experience I had last night. Since it was Halloween weekend I knew that taxis were going to be really hard to get, especially downtown. My first experience of the night was when I was in East Van heading to downtown and we tried to catch a cab. I called Yellow Taxi and was put on hold for 23 minutes - we weren't even able to get through. We were out on the main road trying to wave cabs down along with several other groups of people. Finally after 30+ minutes we were able to snag a taxi to get downtown. Fast forward to the end of the evening, it's around 2am - it was near impossible to get a taxi in the downtown area. We were walking around Yaletown and around upper Davie and Granville trying to hail a cab - after 30 min of walking around in the rain, we finally were able to snag one. We tell the driver we're heading to East Van and he tells us to get in. We were in the car for about 3 minutes when the driver asks us the address; we give him the address. He then pulls over and tells us that by the time he gets to the house it will be past his shift. I kind of laughed at first and asked "are you serious?", he said "no, no, please get out of the car". I asked him again if he could just drive to the house since we had been trying to get a cab for over half an hour at that point, I even told him we'd pay extra and tip him well, we just really wanted to get out of our wet clothes and get home. He again said "no, my shift will be over then". I was dumbfounded. I want to clarify that my friend and I were not sick, not too drunk, were very coherent and polite up until that point. Now if you know me, I keep my cool in very heated situations, but to be honest, I got a bit frustrated with the driver because at that point all we wanted to do was go home and change out of our wet clothes. I understand that drivers have the right to kick people out of their taxi, but only for good reason! I understand if passengers are disrespectful and rude, but never because "my shift will be over then". To me, that's not good enough reason to kick passengers out of their car at 2:45am in the pouring rain to search for a new taxi. Absolutely ridiculous. Seriously Vancouver... enough of this taxi lobbying. Bring ridesharing to this city ASAP. This is utterly ridiculous at this point. When there are people standing out in the rain trying to hail rides very late in the evening, when does it become a safety issue? read more

I cannot comprehend how this company is still running. Do not use this service unless you want to be ripped off. I have taken the cab about 3 times and each time for an urgent situation and the drivers are very rude, won't wait for you even for 5 minutes (I would've given him generous tips if he did) and they have very poor customer service. The way they BEG you for tips is just not professional either. I had to take the cab once again for emergency situation tonight and for a FIVE MINUTE CAB RIDE, THE TOTAL CAME UP TO $17.10 which is outrageous. AND THE METER WENT UP EVERY TWO SECONDS! 0 stars, minus even. Interestingly, like the last reviewer, had lost a cell phone in a Yellow Cab. We called and someone with a similar accent to our driver answered but hung up. Lost and found was closed all weekend too. Never got it back. BUT THAT's NOT THE WORST OF IT This week my boyfriend was hit on his scooter by a yellow cab driver who was not paying attention when he made a left hand turn...boyfriend is in anguish and the scooter is totalled. Driver is trying to relinquish any blame, lying even, and didn't help him when he was laying in the intersection unconscious. On top of this horrible experience I nearly got side swiped myself today by a driver who was swerving into my lane. I will never use this cab company again and will be telling all my friends not to either. If you choose to, be sure your driver is paying attention to the road. read more

Two Yellow Cabs were parked along the side of Granville St, my friend was told by one driver that there was a flat rate from Downtown to Burnaby. She left to go grab cash from an ATM, and we got into the next available one. We asked the driver about the flat rate to Burnaby before getting in then asked if he could make another quick stop after that. (Of course, we'd pay whatever the meter price is after the Burnaby stop) He said no problem and told us to get in. Once we were well on our way, he told us that since it was late and Burnaby is so far we were going to have to give him another 20$. What?! No. I reminded him that we'd asked about the rate before getting in, and he'd said no problem! He started to get angry, then laughed and mocked us, and locked all the doors. At that point we were on the highway and didn't feel like there was anything we could do. After dropping two friends off in Burnaby, the next stop was New West Skytrain .. Which was about 10 blocks away. I asked him to turn on his meter but he refused and locked the doors again, saying it would be $30 because "I had to drive in the fog, and now I have to drive back to get gas." Also adding "you should have just sat Downtown for a couple hours and waited for the Skytrain to start running if you don't want to pay." Excuse me? Rude! My friend and I decided to get out and just call another cab company, but he wouldn't unlock the doors. I had to roll down the window and get it from the outside, even then he started screaming at us when we left .. Felt totally unsafe! If I could give 0 stars, I would do that in a heartbeat. NEVER again! read more

Yellow cab is the worst and Vancouver needs UBER more than ever. I downloaded the app in hopes that I'd be able to get a cab quicker and be able to get to my destinations on time. NOPE. Twice this weekend now, yellow cab has failed. I'll pre book a cab for a certain time and they don't even show up until ten to fifteen minutes after that time. If I knew that, then I would book fifteen minutes before the time that I actually need them there. Also on the app it says you can "track on the map" where your cab is. ALSO FALSE. I can't tell where my cab is and when they finally arrive they get mad at me for having to wait a few minutes. What's the point of pre booking if you're not planning to be there at that time? On the weekends or during times there are big events going on, I call & the line is often times busy, or I finally get through and they say that it's a longer than normal wait. "Longer than normal wait" has meant sometimes 30-60 minutes. I try to use car2go or Evo if I can instead of cabbing because it's a nightmare. If I had a dollar for how many times my cab driver asks if I have cash to pay... can I just pay with my credit card in peace please??? Uber please. read more

Yellow cab is a JOKE. I take a cab everywhere I go since I live downtown. I do not understand how on earth they are still in business. Clearly the owner of this joke company does not know how to deal with his workers and teach them some manners. The cab drivers of yellow cab are soooooooooo rude and mean, they have NO customer service skills, they are money hungry and HATE their job. I don't know why they even work as cab drivers if their going to sit there with a stinky attitude. CUSTOMER SERVICE is key in businesses specially in the taxi industry. Every other cab company knows exactly how rude the yellow cab drivers are . DO NOT EVER CALL THEM . oh and on top of all that every time I pay with my debit or visa they pretend that their machine does not work. They have this attitude that they demand cash. Worst experience in a cab ever! It was raining out and I was in desperate need of getting my dog to the vet for her surgery and I was without a vehicle and walking her was just not going to happen in the rain. So I phoned Yellow Cab on a whim to see if they would drive me and my super affection British bulldog 10 blocks to the Vet. The man I spoke to on the phone was REALLY great, very understanding and extremely helpful. He told me that they do in fact provide services for people with pets and that a "PET FRIENDLY" driver would be there to pick us up in 15 minutes. The cab arrived on time and I provided a blanket for my dog to sleep on the floor. As soon as I open the car door the driver appears to be terrified of my dog before she even gets in the car. MY dog showed no signs of aggression and was incredibly calm. But I figured whatever we don't have far to go. We get there and my cab fare is 7.00. I do not have cash on me, so I hand him my Visa card which is listed as a acceptable form of payment. He DID NOT WANT TO TAKE MY VISA! He told me that it was a MAJOR inconvenience for him to fill out the paperwork and asked me to leave the car and go to a bank to get cash instead. I told him I'm sorry that I don't have cash on me or a debit card. He continued to tell me what a hassle is was to take a visa for such a low amount. I apologized again and again and we was relentless! He FINALLY accepted my visa and complained even more! Once we got out of his vehicle I phoned his company and he was flagged. I will never EVER again ride yellow cab. Thank you very much driver #94, I hope you'll think twice about working in the SERVICE industry from here on! read more

Ahhhh the cab company I love to hate! Remember when CTV had the feature on the cabs that wouldn't take people from downtown to the suburbs??? Well guess what, it was TRUE!!!! Here's my story: One very late, cool, drizzly night my best friend and I were out at a pub with friends. Of course, living all the way out in New West, we missed the last skytrain and had to hail ourselves a cab. What a rigmarole that was! We figured we would walk one street over from Granville and catch a taxi from there (less people, means less competition for a cab right?), so as we were walking down the street we see a Yellow Cab coming our way and he's free. We waved him down and guess what the lovely can driver did (seething in sarcasm)? He rolled down the window, asked where we were going and when we told him New Westminster, he told us it was too far, rolled up his window and drove away. To make a long story short, we ended up catching a Royal City Taxi from the Hotel Vancouver home. The next day I called the cab company and the managers could care less. I avoid this taxi company like the plague now. read more

Choices are slim, and a MacLure's once hit my car (with me in it) and then, when we were supposed to pull over to exchange information, they took off. Needless to say, I don't like MacLures at all! #12, I'm talking to you! Sometimes their phone staff gets it right when I request a cab and tell them where to pick me up, I live on a tricky street; sometimes they don't get it at all and I spend extra dollars in a cab heading the wrong way. Cab drivers are as individual as can be. Some tell you they won't accept credit cards, others will smile nicely and say of course! Some talk on their headsets, others ask you some questions. I don't normally mind, except for ones that want to debate politics... at three am. I'm definitely not listening then. Last week was the worst though - I came pretty close to vomiting with the horrendous stench of BO that consumed the entire cab, seeped into the fibers of my clothes and hair and wouldn't leave. I'd love it if there were a way to give a '0' rating. It's really a luck-of-the-draw situation with these guys. Sometimes they come on time; other times, they will seriously leave you high and dry if they see a better fare. A few times I was stranded at home, late for work, because a driver felt that waiting 2 minutes for me to limp downstairs from the 3rd floor of my building (at the time, I had a foot injury that really slowed me down) was too long, or that they would get a better fare if they ditched me and answered the next call. The latter happened TWICE. I've complained to them TWICE about it, after both situations were verified by the driver who came to pick me up (because they were the one who would have picked up the next call, and so they, too, got ripped off in the process), and TWICE my emails were ignored. They come fairly quickly when called, and it's probably not fair to paint the entire company with one brush, as there are many owner-operators and many owners who just hire out their cars to other drivers. I've had the fortune of meeting some owner-operators and they've been awesome, but they were very few and far between. I'm giving them a low rating because of poor customer service. All cab companies are the same; all fares are roughly the same. Customer service, then, becomes paramount, and if you're just a giant ball of suck like Yellow Cab and don't address issues that are brought up to you... TWICE... then you're seriously failing in that department. Hail 'em down if they drive past you, but don't give them a call and wait to be picked up, because they're very unreliable. Their policy is to wait 10 minutes for their fare to come out, and after 10 minutes they're free to take the next call. But if the next call promises more money than their current one, then they'll flag you as 'did not show' and just go off to the next one while you're hobbling down the stairs to get to them. So fail, Yellow Cab. Buck yellow buckets of fail. read more

I am posting this on my friend's behalf as her story needs to be heard. So here is why they get an "eek methinks not." My friend recently moved here from Toronto and got a local phone number, as one does. Unbeknownst to her, it belongs to a lovely lady of the night named Kinga. This will all come together shortly so bear with me. She called yellow cab and got the automated recording asking if she wanted a cab right away - prompting her to press 1. So well she pressed 1. No one came. She called the company and sat on hold for some time until finally someone answered. She asked why no cab had come and was told that her number had been banned for being racist and violent. She is the nicest, sweetest, softest spoken person ever and tried to explain that she had been receiving odd phone calls asking for someone else and that the complaints were not linked to her at all....THEY HUNG UP ON HER!!! Is that a joke? I understand that people lie all the time but seriously if you heard her voice or noticed the change of address....in a non lady of the night location...you might recognize that she was telling the truth. So what now? My lovely friend is new to the city and can't get a cab? Ummm not impressed. As someone who grew up here, I will never take a yellow cab again....not even if I end up being chased by a racist lady of the night named Kinga...I will still wait for another cab company to come. read more

**I would give this company no stars if I could** I had bad experiences with this cab company twice in a row! On Friday my girlfriend and I were downtown and needed a cab back to kitsilano. The driver picked us up and then we told him where we needed to go. He then told us in an angry voice that he "wouldnt drive us to Kitsilano because he needed to eat" wtf??? It didn't really make much sense to me so I asked him to clarify what he meant. He started shouting back at me that he "NEEDED TO EAT" over and over. We were so baffled we thought he was joking around (I still don't get what he meant by that). But when he started circling the block and yelling that over and over we told him to pull the heck over and let us out. Then he sped away not without yelling to us "PAY ME NOW!"... we were like, this guy has to be joking. We then got another cab to take us to kits with no issues (I wish I could remember the company because the driver was so nice) Then on Saturday my boyfriend and I were heading to a pub (and were late to meet friends) to watch the hockey game and when I walked outside of our apt, I realized that my boyfriend had called Yellow Cab!!! I sighed and didnt say anything... until we got in and the cab driver said the following (after we told him we needed to be taken a few blocks up the road because we were late for meeting our group): "I drove all the way from Cornwall and Burrard for this fare.. and you want me to take you 2 kms up the road????" My boyfriend and I were baffled that he would say this to us... especially since Cornwall and Burrard is 5 BLOCKS away from where we live and where he picked us up from!!!!! My boyfriend shot back at him and told him he was rude, and the cab driver huffed and muddled more mean things under his breath.. like how dare we call a cab to get to a place 2 km away from our house!!!! Don't ever call this company for a cab! I won't be ever again!!!!! read more

I got in the cab, and the driver seemed a bit spaced out, aloof, then he started talking... "Thank God for the rain which has helped wash the garbage and trash off the sidewalks. I'm working a single now, which means stretch-shifts, six to six, sometimes six to eight in the a.m., six days a week. It's a hustle, but it keeps me busy. I can take in three to three-fifty a week, more with skims. I work the whole city, up, down, don't make no difference to me - does to some. Some won't take spooks - Hell, don't make no difference to me. They're all animals anyway. All the animals come out at night: Whores, skunk pussies, buggers, queens, fairies, dopers, junkies, sick, venal. Someday a real rain will come and wash all this scum off the streets." Why is Hailo not in this city yet? It's in Dublin, it's in Toronto! Hurry up Hailo and get yo ass in gear! So i finally got a place of my own in Vancouver after nearly 3 weeks here. Most of my stuff was moved but I did have a couple of little bits that were left today. Oh I will ring a cab, I aint dragging those few things with me on the bus. So I Googled taxi companies and Yellow Cab seemed to have a legit little site and all looked good. The phone operator girl was aloof and disinterested from the get go. I gave my address, told her I wanted it now. I asked her if there was a pick up charge. "What?" "A pick up charge, call out charge for the taxi?" "Ehhh no........." "I am only asking you a question, there's no need for the attitude in your reply..." "Ehhh excuse me???" "I very politely asked you a simple question. That does not warrant sighing and attitude" "I AM answering your question!" Oh I am sorry to be asking you a question sweetheart. What the actual fuq? The attitude from her was UNREAL! This rang alarm bells with me and I went on Yelp to see all these horror story reviews from fellow Yelpers. I was about to cancel the taxi and then my phone rang. He was already outside. The cab driver was fine. He didn't put on his metre and after one block I said to him "Eh don't forget the metre!" "Oh yeah" So I am not sure if he was purposely not doing that so he would then charge me something stupid and overpriced when we arrived at said destination. I also saw something about a 15 dollar luggage charge that someone was charged on one of the reviews, so I was gearing up for a fight with this guy if that happened. It didn't. I paid the fare. Tipped accordingly and that was that. There's pick up charges in most cities. This wasn't too alien of a concept for this girl to understand. She just wanted to be a geebag [Irish slang, Google it]. So is this the norm in the city with cab companies? In any case I was on edge the whole experience and you don't hand over cash to be made feel like a moron and to feel like you're potentially getting into a cab that might rip you off. The driver could have just forgotten genuinely about the metre but the previous reviews made me think the worst. Argh. Getting a cab should be such a stressful thing!!!! read more

I would give ZERO STARS if I could. I've used this service before, and it was fine. But this past weekend I just have no idea what was going on, but there was NO WAY I was getting a cab. You see, my work holds a Christmas party every year, and hands out vouchers for Yellow Cab taxis as our ride home. You'd think this would be a great service for them, but apparently they give absolutely no sh*t about potential customers. After trying to wave down a taxi for a half hour, I decided to call them to be sure I would get one at least in the somewhat near future. The man on the phone told me tonight was VERY busy, but there would be a cab between 5-30 minutes that would drive by my given location. I needed to keep my eyes open to wave him over. Ok, so... I did that. For an HOUR. That's 1.5 hours of trying to get a taxi. After this, I even tried going to a hotel and have THEM phone. They did, the cab said they were coming, but of course there was no cab. Oh and bonus, I wasn't even drunk- nor was I wearing provocative clothing. Oh, sorry, perhaps that's a problem. It's less of a chance I'd allow them to jip me off. Anyways, I didn't get a cab. I took the bus (thank god there's a bus that still runs at 3am). Silly me, why did I ever think a cab company would care about someone freezing their as* off, just trying to get home to bed at 2:30 in the morning? I should have taken the bus long ago. Oh, and here's the cherry on top: I have learned that this was not specific to me. None of my work friends were able to get a cab either. One was actually treated so poorly over the phone that they were basically told to screw off. Wow. I will NEVER hail your cabs again, Yellow Cab. Not only that, but I will refer others to a different company all together. Well done. read more

Total RIP OFF, SCAM, company making up extra charges. Took a yellow cab from downtown to burnaby with a friend. The driver tries to scam us out of 15 dollars as a charge for my buddy being tipsy . I gave him a 50 and gave me 3 dollars change as the trip was 32 bucks in total. The driver was claiming that the 15 dollars extra was because my friend was tipsy. read more

WORST TAXI COMPANY EVER Yep everyone else has already said it but I just have to re-emphasize this point. Unreliable and just unbelievably rude. I make a point of never calling them but made the mistake of taking one on the street on Friday night. He didn't want to take a card for payment so we tried to rustle up some cash to accommodate him, giving him literally our last $10 for a $9.80 fare and then had the f*cking cheek to give us shit for not giving him more for a tip. Total assholes. read more

Called at 2:00PM to arrange for a cab to arrive at 4:00PM so I could take my parents to the airport to catch a flight. We get them to approve a voucher. Ten past and still no cab. I call to follow up. I feel a quick wave of uneasiness when the dispatcher initially acts like she has no idea what I'm talking about regarding the call, but she quickly recoups and says that a cab is on its way. Ten minutes later (4:20) the cab arrives and my Dad is furious. I try to calm him down by explaining that cab drivers only pick up the open fares as they're made available, and that no single cab is reserved specifically for a pick-up before that happens, but he's already looking for blood. The poor cabbie is very nice and remains courteous despite my Dad's loud complaints. This is his first fare for the day and explains that he just saw our notice when he drove over to pick us up, and it's not like cabs are just sitting around making fares wait. Somehow he makes it to the airport in record time, so kudos to his determination. The voucher is supposed to cover the fare to the airport sans a tip, which we're supposed to add. The driver's puzzled and disappointed face hinted that he either didn't know about vouchers, or he wasn't informed by the system that we would be using a voucher. We very nearly flew out of the cab in our rush and quickly scrambled to hand him two dollars as tip along with the voucher. A few minutes later, to our distress, we discovered that we had handed him American coins instead of Canadian. Immediately we all felt like shit. What a nice way to end such an aggravating experience. I say today is the last straw because of all the stress-inducing experiences I've had with cabs in this city, most of them have come out of Yellow Cab. I can expect to be at the mercy of the call queue when I request for a cab last-minute, but I think there can be little to no excuse for a cab not arriving on time when you call for one two hours earlier. The excuse can't always be made for rush hour demand or the design of the dispatching system. If your system can't show up on time to accommodate advanced reservations, then what's the point of even having a reservation system? Black Top Cabs will be getting all my calls from now on. I really hope I have more success with them than with Yellow Cab. P.S. For what it's worth, we're sorry Cab 207. If our paths ever manage to cross again I'll make sure to get you a better tip. read more
