Wow I'm speechless and overwhelmed with how this driver went above and beyond for my time of need!!! My family which included my husband ,9 year old son and our 2 pups broke down 8 hours from our home stranded 30 miles out of Lubbock tx and thus driver drove us to parts store for car part and gave us an awesome rate and even bought us sonic. Tommy said he was the owner, took me to Dr. and he said call me back and I will take you home. I called and he said he was taking his wife and son to dinner, he picked me up 2 hours later. Couldn't get a rideshare from the airport so called this company first. Surprisingly, the rate was the same! They picked us up within 15 minutes and communicated with us before their arrival. I had a one night stay in Lubbock this past week. Because of a big convention in town I couldn't get a rental car. So I had to take a cab to my hotel. There is no cab stand at the Lubbock Airport but I was able to call a cab by picking up a phone next to one of the airport exit doors. I called Yellow Cab (one of two choices). They told me it would take ten minutes, though it actually it took fifteen minutes for the cab to arrive. This is where things got really bad. This was the most disgusting, filthy cab I have ever been in. The seats were filthy, the cab's exterior was filthy, the cab smelled (not helping was the obvious fact that the driver smokes in the cab but the stench wasn't limited to stale cigarettes) and the driver was unshaven, unkempt and slovenly dressed. The city of Lubbock needs to set some standards for licensing of their taxicabs because Yellow Cab certainly doesn't set any standards themselves. This was my first ever visit to Lubbock and this cab ride made a poor first impression of the city. read more

I see the only other review for Yellow Cab was one star, which surprises me because I had a great experience. I had to take a cab from the airport to the rental car place (oh suddenly Enterprise WON'T just pick you up anywhere) and then I had to take another one from there back to the airport the next day. Both cabs I got were nice and clean, the drivers were super friendly and helpful and both times I got a cab within 5 min. of calling them, even at the rental car place downtown. Abaolutely terrible. Ordered a cab for 9:00 PM from Crosbyton to Lubbock, as I am leaving the state. I was told my cab would be here at 9. I called at 6 to be sure, and was told there was no record of me ever calling, and that no drivers would be available. However, my card was charged 100 dollars. So Michael, the fine gentleman I had a pleasure speaking to, was very quick to take an attitude and harass me using vulgar language. When my girlfriend called after me, she was also harassed. Absolutely terrible company. Would only reccomend if you like getting scammed and having to find last minute transportation. read more

For a small town, yellow cab here answers and responds quickly to pickups. I have been in Lubbock for about a month and have been using them on a regular basis. They are very good and better than most cities that I have visited. read more

Clean and efficient taxi service. I was able to get a taxi in 1 minute on Thanksgiving Day. Expensive for such a small town.

I placed a call for a cab at 10:20pm. After 3 calls, a cab arrived at 1130. To make extra money, he offered his cab to an extra person who had 3 stops. I got out and called again. I finally got a cab and home at midnight. Cab #12 was unprofessional in taking my reservation and adding others. The can interior was dirty and upholstery ripped. It should not take 80 minutes to get a taxi in any city, especially at an airport. These taxis are independent contractors and not beholden to the dispatcher. Use another service. read more

Absolutely terrible, they called to let us know they were late and in route. I said no big deal bc we were in a two person line dealing with our lost luggage. They called again and I let them know we were still in line. 5 minutes later we walked out they were gone without any notice. I called them and was told he left to answer another call. So i personally didnt use the service, but i did see the compassion of one of their drivers. Last night 9/29 my neighbor was released from the emergency room without his phone, wallet, or any payment . When he arrived i met him outside to help and she didnt charge him in his state. She was very kind in his time of need. By the time i got back out with some cash for her trouble she was driving off. Thank you for helping him home you went above & beyond. read more

Worst service I have ever had. I asked for a cab, called 45 minutes before the pickup time. The driver was late for 30 minutes and I missed part of an important meeting. When the cab driver was late I called the yellow cab number, they didn't even tell me that he will be that late to have time to call another cab despite telling them I have an important meeting. P.S they can't be that late in Lubbock unless they are not doing their work properly. read more

If you book your cab in advance (meaning at least 1 hour before), your cab will be there at time. Otherwise, it takes usually 30-60 min to a cab to pick up you: it seems that Lubbock is a big town or they do not have a lot of drivers... But if you need to be picked up at the apartment complex The Edge on Indiana avenue, I wish you GOOD LUCK: it was the 3rd time today, that the cab have missed me: he passed in front of the residence without enter and stop... The other one-star reviews cover this nicely. I called for a cab at the airport, was told 10 minutes. 20 minutes later, I called back, they said driver was "almost there". The driver shows up 35 minutes after I called. Apparently that's pretty good, judging by other reviews here. The car that arrived shouldn't have been on the road, much less in commercial service. The windshield was spiderwebbed, the upholstery torn, the ABS brake light was on, and the car swayed unnervingly on sharp turns. For my return trip, I called Royal Coach. They had a car there in less than 10 minutes, and it was one I had no fear getting into. I'm never going to use the taxi service there again. read more

Don't expect to get to your destination in a timely manner. You should plan for a wait of at LEAST 20-30 minutes. Even if you call ahead an hour or two, they often manage to "forget" to send someone out and you'll end up waiting even longer. I use this cab service constantly because it's pretty much the only one available, but their service is awful. I've never had them come on time, always around 30 minutes late, without exception. I have called and complained multiple times to no avail, with no change in service whatsoever. As for the drivers themselves, I have no problem. Some of them are opinionated and sort of ridiculous, but they've never treated me badly, and in fact, have from time to time given my girlfriend and me free rides. Their "safe ride" system that they do for Tech students is wonderful, with free rides any time after 10 when school is in session, and is the main reason that they're getting anything more than one star. read more

Used them several times they were always late but I didn't mind I always schedule early in case they are late. I have two instances that made me very dissatisfied! The first time I had a cab scheduled to pick me up at the airport and I get there and see another girl getting in my cab. I called and asked politely if there was another cab coming and they said it would be 20 minute wait so I took the next town car. (Which I later found out is a cheaper option) Today a similar situation happened. When we landed I called and asked for an eta and the man on the phone took a tone and said "look there is a lot of college students coming in to town right now we will be there as soon as we can!" Which did not answer my question so I tried to rephrase and asked about how far away the taxi was and he told me they are on there way! And he was very frustrated and started yelling! So once my husband and I got our bags we took a towncar right away! And by the time I was back home I got a call telling me my taxi was at the airport! So I won't be using them again! read more

Found a phone belonging to the cab company. Asked if possibly I could get a ride home in exchange for returning phone because bus wasn't running due to holiday. They said they could send a car right away for phone but could be up to a two hour wait for ride and I would have to pay for the ride then went on to say they were calling police accusing me of making threats and stealing the phone! Told them I was only trying to return it and if they wanted it they could go to where I found it in a parking lot in the snow because of their threats to call police and accuse me of stealing the phone I found! Nice drivers but cabs are old, dirty, and smell like driver lives in the cab in my few experiences as an out of towner.

I'm a graduate student without a car, and so have used Yellow Cab on several occasions. I've been sorely disappointed constantly. There are some good parts, I guess: the dispatcher is always friendly, and all of the cab drivers I've had are also friendly. However, the service is intensely unreliable. Right now, for instance, I am waiting for a cab I scheduled to pick me up at 5:00, and just got a call that it will not be here until 5:20 at the earliest, which will make me late for my appointment, again. Yesterday, I was at the gym in the middle of Lubbock, and it took over an hour after I called for the cab to actually arrive. I needed a ride home from the airport on a Tuesday night, and it took over 90 minutes from when I called for the cab to arrive. It would seem that, even if you were to call days in advance (which I frequently do), you ought to tell the service to pick you up AT LEAST 30-45 minutes before you would ordinarily need them to come. Then, maybe they'd be on time. Also, the service is quite expensive. It is over $12 to go less than 5 miles, which seems to border on unreasonable, in my opinion. I wouldn't write a negative opinion about the service if it was just a one-time bad experience, but I've taken this cab service dozens of times, and the vast majority of them have involved outrageous wait times. read more

I have very mixed feelings about this cab service. I used them several times from June 1-June 6, 2011 as a result of my car not arriving when I arrived in Lubbock. The first time I used them, I was told there would be a 40 minute wait...and there was. The only positive thing about this experience was that since CVS didn't have the prescription I needed, the driver did wait for me to take me back to TTU. The 2nd experience was also pretty good, and I guess this is due to the fact that I had to go to ER at around 6:00 am. The driver got there pretty quickly and was very professional. After my ER visit, I had to go back to CVS to have a prescription filled. I waited approximately 30 minutes for a cab to take me to CVS which was only a few streets over. The cab driver left, even though it only took me a few minutes to have my prescription filled. Since I was just dropped off, I figured that a cab would appear fairly quickly and that the same driver must still be in the area. Well....not so much. I had to wait an additional 40 minutes for another cab to appear. At this point, I was very agitated as I was heavily medicated & extremely drowsy. So imagine my surprise when the driver stated that tips were greatly appreciated. Well, if I didn't have to wait 40 minutes and the rate charger was on $3.00 instead of $3.40 when I got in the car, I may have been more willing to give a tip. Needless to say, this is the experience I had with this service. I didn't read the reviews before hand, so it didn't occur to me to call an hour in advance. Maybe others will have better luck. read more

I called for a cab to pick me up at 9:00 pm. It's 9:45 and they're still not here. When I called, for the third time, to inquire about my pick up, the dispatcher stated that they were busy and I was next on the list. I called to make the appointment at 8:30 so I don't understand why they said they could be here at 9 when they obviously could not. I ended up calling "checker cab" and they are actually on their way. Yellow cab was terrible and I will not be calling again. read more

I work at a Hotel, actually 3 different Brands, Comfort, Super 8, and the Brand New HIE, this cab company is very frustrating, the dispatcher says the cab is on its way, then 45 minutes later you call again, and its "they don't know" how long it will be, but your next on the list, it is embarrassing, we have clients that pay upwards of $200 plus dollars to be treated this way, but wait it gets worse if someone is going to a local residential address, sometimes they don't even show up. I've been in the hotel business for 24 yrs and From San Diego, to Indianapolis, now Lubbock, and this is the worst service. I actually call Checker Cab Co. because I know they will be here for my customers and will give me an honest time frame. read more

Horrible, horrible customer service, especially the manager. The dispatcher kept giving away the cabs so they are excessively late. When I would call back, they would sometimes not answer or even just hang up on me. I don't have time to play games especially when I am trying to get to and from the doctor's office for check ups on a serious condition. Is there something wrong with being told that there are problems within your company instead of being defensive about it? I thought that's what feedback was for? But when I tried to inform the manager about the problems, all she has to say is, "Excuse me???" Well, you and your company are excused... I'm never using you again... read more
