How does this cab company stay in business? I agree with the others who think this company can suck it. If you live in Pilsen and are trying to get a pickup, look elsewhere. They called me 5 times to notify me that they could not get a cab driver out to me. Seriously? How is that possible? They are unreliable and always try to talk you out of using a credit card. They also refuse to provide Pilsen with service. I will never use them again and warn friends against it. They don't deserve a star. read more

Yellowcab driver 4852 refusing to accept credit card saying the machine isn't working. i always take a cab and i know how to use the cab credit card machine in front of me. while he was cursing already i am using his credit card machine to pay him and he kept saying his machine is not working, but PAYMENT WENT THRU! so after paying him, he was still cursing at me, super mad and even after i got off his car he was still shouting and cursing at me. the worst part that i cant understand is that I HAVE MY 2 1/2 year old kid with me hearing all his bad words. that's the worst being a parent. read more

I wish I could give yellow cab less than one star. What an aweful bunch of human beings. It was 20 below on Saturday and I was working late - 4AM to be exact. I called for a cab. They send a cab and tell me he should be outside shortly. I go to the door and wait. Nada. Fall asleep. It's 5AM - nothing. This is the third time this has happened so I re-call a cab and place a complaint with them and they put me through to the nastiest wretch of a supervisor (the only male supervisor by his accounts - he refused to give his name) who then shouts over me, berated me for 5 minutes and then midway through a sentence he cut me off to take another call. I was hung up on. It's hard enough for businesses to stay afloat right now and many people are working themselves to the bone to do a good job. Yellow Cab clearly doesn't care and had no problem treating me like garbage on numerous occassions. Put them out of business so that someone worthy will take their place, and God help that supervisor from dispatch if I find out who he is. I've never been treated so disrespectfully. THE WORST! I spend thousands on cabs annually. Why? I am visually challenged and cannot drive. This company shows no loyalty to regular customers. I was hung up on 10x (cell phone log to prove it); left hanging on Thanksgiving evening because the driver couldn't find me - the driver who dove me to my destination, two miles away had no clue where he was going! In Chicago! Could not understand my explicit directions! Then, for the return ride, Yellow didn't have the decency to call me - they just never showed up - not the first time this happened. I had somewhere to be tonight at a certain time and 3 hours later an agent still has not contacted me. I missed most of the event and there is no purpose of me wasting money on a cab now. Everytime I try these guys I get "20 minute wait" which 20 minutes later turns into "15 minutes"...then "10", then "5"......and then I actually end up late for whatever I am going to. Once I had to drive myself to a flight, only to get the cab calling me saying they are outside as I am checking my bags at O'hare! Yellow cab caused me to miss my flight. Don't ever use them if you need to go to the airport! I called Yellow Cab at 6:50 am and got their automated scheduling service. I received a confirmation number but was getting ready and didn't write down the number. I called back 15 minutes later, at 7:10 am and they didn't have the order. Ok, not a big deal as my flight wasn't until 9:30. WRONG... Called several times and was told I would be notified when a driver accepted my order. No call ever came. I never made it to airport and had to reschedule my flight. They finally called at 9:05 am. Funny that they called right after rush hour when a cabbie would like an airport fare!!! I will never use this taxi service again as they are undependable. By the way, yellow and Checker are one in the same company. So unprofessional that one can't get a ride to the airport and has to call two hours in advance and if you do this, they show up in five minutes. This morning, my wife called Yellow Cab requesting a cab. We received a confirmation e-mail that the cab would be at our address between 7:03am and 7:18am. No cab ever showed up. When we called to see where our cab was, the operator advised that "no one ever picked up our route". Why did we receive a confirmation e-mail then? Avoid Yellow, Checker & Blue Diamond Cabs at all costs (they are all the same company)! There are plenty of other cab companies in Chicago. A Yellow Cab was called for me by my doctor's office to transport me to another medical facility. I was told by the doctor that the cab company had told the driver where I was going. (This is usually the case when you call for a cab anyway, right?). Well, I got in the cab and the driver asked for the address; I told him I didn't know because I didn't call for the cab and then repeated the info that I had gotten which was his dispatcher had the address. Well, this guy was a real a-hole and copped an attitude because I couldn't tell him the address (when I didn't even call for the cab!). He could have contacted his dispatcher but I went back inside the doc's office and got the address. This jerk continues to tell me he doesn't have to take me anywhere so I told him to pull over and let me out after going only 2 blocks down the road; apparently this immigrant also has a problem with women because he made a comment that 'all you women are like that' (like what?) and kept calling me 'momma'. I sure as hell ain't his Momma! So beware the Yellow Cab company, especially if your cabbies' got an ego before he even starts the meter! read more

Just used Yellow Cab to go from Hilton Chicago to Union Station. The driver yelled at us to shut the door so he could take off -- didn't matter that no one, including a young child, was buckled in. At the end of the ride, the driver quoted the cost ... fare + his 20% tip. Double check the meter before paying up! read more

I called Yellow Cab to book a morning cab ride to the airport (the online form would not go through). I called and talked to a professional sounding dispatcher, she confirmed my information very quickly and told me that if a driver did not show up in the morning to call back. I had ordered the cab for 5:30 and I received a text at 5:15 "Cab #xxxx has accepted your fare. The estimated time to get you is 4 minutes. Thank you.....". Cab #xxxx showed up about 15 minutes later (later than text but on time for request). He confirmed my info. He was very nice and had a clean cab. Driver got me there quickly. I'm not putting his number and giving 5 stars because the ride was a little hairy, but not unusual for a city cab driver. Yellow Cab did everything they said they would. read more

I scheduled a pick-up at 4:15am. The customer service on the line could definitely use some improvement. I was told I would be called the next morning when the cab was there. Around 4:10am I stepped outside merely because I was anxious to go. The cab pulled up a few minutes later and got me downtown in 10 minutes- something I didn't realize was possible. They called me back anyway to confirm and also sent a text to let me know his ETA. He arrived on time and I was at Union Station in a flash. Got a call from taxi company 10 minutes late saying that taxi would still not arrive for another 10 min. I told them that this was unacceptable since I had a flight to catch. They had the nerve to blame me for incorrectly putting in the order. I told them that I had an email confirmation with the time of pickup so I did not understand how I placed the order incorrectly. Terrible. And I don't mean it just because I've had the most recent terrible experience - but anytime I've used Yellow Cab it's been TERRIBLE. I try to give them a benefit of a doubt. I try to support local businesses anytime I can - I can't do it for Yellow Cab. I had a very simple request of requesting a 4:30 pick up time and I called at 4. Mind you I constantly said this was for a group of individuals NOT from Chicago that would be in an Englewood. I needed 6 cabs. I called two days beforehand to ask what the procedure would be for this situation. She said call a half hour ahead. So here I am 4:00 calling the cab service to which I am greeted by a young woman who just says, "Well I can't do that. You need to be ready NOW. We'll fleet them out within ten minutes." I kept repeating that I needed to have them by 4:30 and what her suggested callback time would be. "Call at 4:30." No no, you don't understand. They need to get picked UP at 4:30. So I ask them to put in the request right then and there. She refuses until they are ready. I call back 4:15 to ask for them to send it over. Guess what? Only 2/6 cabs arrive. And ten minutes after 4:30. They don't get there until 4:45ish. I will never use them again. By that time everyone had already ordered their own Uber. (Ironically the service I was trying to morally avoid.) Never again. read more

Yellow Cab driver blew thru a red light in chicago. Admitted it was his fault and then changed his story when his boss showed up. Now it's been a week and the driver is avoiding his insurance company (admission of guilt - police wrote the cab driver the ticket). We can't get closure of our claim or $$ for our vehicle (which was totalled) because they are avoiding the problem. I will never order a cab from them or give them any of my business. Because they cancelled my taxi without telling me--after sending me a text that said my taxi had been dispatched--we missed our flight to Portugal for our honeymoon today. I ordered a taxi online. I got a text saying it was dispatched. I heard my phone ring and answered it. The connection was bad: I could hear a woman saying "Hello" but she couldn't hear me. I wasn't too worried about it since the taxi had been dispatched. After waiting a long time, I called the number back and got a better connection. They told me they had cancelled my taxi since I didn't answer. The lady on the phone was not particularly apologetic and could not give me an estimate as to when I could get a taxi. I have been in the customer service business all my life and to have to pay to be treated the way I was is ridiculous. First cab asked where I was going and then asked if I was paying cash or credit. I said credit and he made me get out of the cab. Second cab #320 (yellow cab) on Friday (05.13.11) at 5:15 pm when I ran my credit card through and would not read told me he was going to take me to the police station and that this is why they did not like credit cards. He then proceeded to say to me "@#it lady don' t you have cash?" My credit card ended up going through and then he denied ever saying anything to me. What happened to customer service? I know my boyfriend runs late but this cab service makes him look early! It took 55 min from dispatch and three phone calls for our cab to arrive. We requested a van since I told them we had six large suitcases and four people. We did not receive a van. He couldn't find our street even with dispatcher's help. If I could give this place 0stars I would. Took a cab ride from Midway to Bolingbrook which is less than a 30 minute ride was charged a flat rate of $86. When I asked why I was told that's just the way it is. Driver was kind but really not the best driver almost wrecked us on the interstate. Will never ever use them again! Went to Navy Pier from Ogilvie, both ways with Yellow Cab. Both drivers left before door was closed (one saying, "Hurry up, get in get in, close the door"). Both drove recklessly, hitting bumps hard, and swerving wildy. One nearly hit several pedestrians (with the right of way) and the other nearly hit a bicyclist. I know for cab drivers to drive this way is typical these days. Still these guys are ready to kill people for money. Sad. read more

Reservation service is awful. I reserved a taxi 11 hours in advance to pick me up and take me to the airport at 6:45am every week. About 50 percent of the time they either don't show up or say they have but won't wait the 1-2 mins it takes me to go outside. In bad weather, when you need them on time the most, they never show up on time or at all. On multiple occasions I've had them call me 45 mins after my reservation to tell me they can get me another can with 15 mins and then lecture me when I've already found another one. I have a flight to catch so I can't afford their inability to manage their schedule even though they have a 11 hour warning. I've since gone to a private driving service as most Chicago taxi companies seem to have many of the same issues. read more

They were much more informative and sent me a confirmation number, called me as well as told me a time! However, they said my address wasn't in the computer. It has been a building since 1911! I don't even know what that means. Why bother having an appointment (or a website)? I waited another ten minutes, then I had to find another way to get to my destination.
