How long does it take to serve a simple order of raisin toast and tea? Well, it would seem, that for Yellow Brick it is indeed a long and winding road. We're talking 3:30pm when the cafe was not overly busy. The toast came out about 15 mins after order placed, but the tea? Well, at least another good 10-15 mins, and that was despite having to remind the waitress! Galling enough to wait so long for such disjointed 'service'? Yes, particularly when the staff behind the counter were busy in chit chat with passing acquaintances and 'customers'. What about those who'd already ordered - and paid! Don't know about you, but I like to have my toast WITH my beverage. Seems that's becoming more and more difficult at a lot of cafes around Sydney these days. Yeah, they've got the pose, that 'look' (beards and all) and trendy ('post industrial' these days) set-up but when it comes to getting their service act together, well, that's altogether another matter.
