I wanted to shift to…read morestrength-based exercise and have a tailored program to age healthy, feel more grounded in my body, and achieve some cool goals (like pull ups) with professional guidance. Amber helped me get all of that--and more! After about a year of working with her, my body no longer aches (I had "bad" knees from martial arts), I have more mobility, I can do proper push ups, I'm gradually lifting heavier weights, I feel more settled in my body, and I look and feel stronger! It's easier to move through life, physically and mentally. I've seen Amber move from a shared gym to a small private gym to the current larger gym, and it's no surprise her client and coach list is growing. She's fantastic. Bri is a delight to work with as well! If you're looking for a safe space to start training or pick it up after time off, I strongly recommend checking out Divergent Fitness!

By serving only women, they've created a safe place where one can walk in feeling welcome instead of self-conscious. I am new to strength training but Coach Amber and Coach Bri immediately made me feel comfortable and safe as they taught me proper form for each move - using simple and clear directions. They know their stuff and their goal is to empower you to do this on your own. I have such an engaging time that the hour-long session feels like ten minutes! Who knew strength training could be so fun? They are thorough - from warm-ups to strength training to gentle stretching. They keep logs of your workouts and enable you to add the workouts you've done at home. They adapt to any injuries or sensitive areas to make sure you can still show up without hurting yourself. They understand anatomy and protect you during training with their vast knowledge of muscle groups and how everything works. They both show incredible kindness and encouragement that lifts my spirits every time I see them. As a 52-year old woman in late perimenopause, my goals are focused on protecting muscle and guarding against osteoporosis. I want to age with mobility - hiking up hills and lifting my own luggage when I travel. I am learning moves like trap bar deadlifts, Romanian deadlifts, squats, bench rows, and other terms that once seemed so foreign to me. Now I feel more knowledgeable, more empowered, and more excited to embrace this as part of who I am! They make me feel like a badass!

We found Underground Fitness on Yelp. My wife and I were looking for a gym that's close to home and…read moreone that offers personal and group training. Although I've been going to gym since high school, my eating habits are not always ideal and I've always struggled with weight. At my April 2026 doctor's checkup I weighed the most I've ever been. Yikes! Some extreme lifestyle changes were needed, especially since I'm a dad juggling with a career. As a Yelper, I also need better health to enjoy good food , travel and enjoy life more! We signed up with Gil for 30, 1-hr private workouts. The results have so far been amazing - after 4 months, I lost about 20 pounds and feel better. Clothes feel looser and recent bloodwork showed great reduction in blood sugar. We recently re-signed for another 30 sessions based on excellent results to date. Here's why I recommend Underground Fitness if you are serious about weight loss: 1. Gil helps design a meal plan based on your target weight. Nothing too drastic - he reviews your daily meal and makes suggested changes and additions. In some cases you're adding food (hello egg whites and cottage cheese). 2. You get daily protein, carb, and fat targets that are easy to measure by uploading photos to any free AI agent - see Yelpers are naturally good at this! 3. Love the flexibility - weekly 1-hr sessions work best for me since I have access to my Corporate gym. Gil designs workouts each week via App that will guide you whether you work at home, travel, or have access to another gym. 4. The actual 1-hr workouts with Gil are brutal but you'll feel great afterwards. A mix of barbells, dumbbells, bands, cardio rowing/bikes, medicine balls, TRX, and pushing or pulling really heavy sleds. 5. With private training, you get a great coach and mentor in Gil, and can leverage his expertise to achieve your health goals. The cost is more expensive than a gym membership but if you want results, I believe the investment is well worth it.

Hands down, Linda is THE BEST trainer I have ever worked with in all of Northern California! I've worked with other trainers before, and have even participated at Crossfit, but what makes her different from any other trainer is that 1) She genuinely cares about her clients and their fitness goals, and 2) She makes SURE that you are able to get the best workouts, with the right amount of intensity (and it varies with each person), SAFELY. She knows what she's doing as your trainer, even when you don't. Because of her, I not only reached my fitness goals, I went beyond them. Thank you Linda!!

I was in need of a gym and having a pool was one of the requirements so that limited the options in…read morethe area for me that wasn't a 20 minute+ drive way so I decided to check out Equinox first and ended up really liking the vibe. The classes feel like studio classes (like barre or spin, etc.) that you'd be paying almost $200/month for without any amenities or regular gym equipment. I've been to other gyms in the past that had a lot of hm, lets just call it people watching and social hour. Folks here are definitely here to workout, do their own thing and friendly. Definitely a no judgement zone. I also had some hesitations based on other reviews about not being able to freeze or cancel membership within the first year especially if you have an injury and what not but decided to go for it anyway despite that, more on that later. Some other other gyms didn't seem to be any better based on those reviews so it probably would've been similar issues elsewhere anyway. When you initial sign up, they give you some comp sessions with a trainer (to obviously sell you personal training) but it's something I wanted to try anyway. I thought, why not, let's give it a go for a few months since I thought it would be good to get an extra boost and back into a routine. Well, a few months had passed and then I had some travel plans so I was away from the gym but then came back from my travels with a severe knee injury where I could barely walk. It sucked but I showed up anyway. Not because I couldn't cancel my membership due to the contract terms but because I needed movement for rehab. I was initially hesitant about returning to training because I felt like I wouldn't be training at 100%. And let's be real, the training sessions aren't cheap. After some discussion with physical therapist for a rehab plan, I decided to return to training with Summer and it was honestly one of the best decisions I've made. Summer programed exercises for me to supplement my PT. She has been really awesome to work with, because my program needed a lot of re-working along the way to adapt to my rehab progress. She's also open to feedback and really great with listening to my input on things that I want to work on. While I am still ways away from being 100% recovered from my knee injury, I already feel like it's night and day compared to just a few months ago. So why only 4 stars? Well, only taking one off is quite generous despite some issues with their app, specifically for training and the so-so amenities in the locker room. The app isn't the best and there were some miscommunications with it that led to a lot of frustration but the training manager Matt was really nice and made it right. The other reason for taking off the star was the amenities which they finally changed to something that smells way better. The previous products didn't smell good and it seemed like the shampoo, body wash, and face cleanser seemed like it was all the same soap in the shower. Didn't feel like there is anything different between the stuff in the bottles. It wouldn't even upset me that there was just one multipurpose wash but the same soap in the different bottles is just confusing for me. Like what's the point? Anyway, good riddance with the old stuff. I haven't tried the new stuff yet aside from the lotion that smells heavenly. I haven't been to the other locations to compare but this one is sufficient for my needs.

With Equinox you truly get what you pay for - cleanliness, supportive and attentive staff, great atmosphere, quality equipment and machines, and incredible amenities. As someone who had a membership at both Planet Fitness and 24 Hour Fitness, there is nothing like Equinox. Regardless of the time of day, or day of the week - their version of "busy" or "peak times" is nothing in comparison to other gyms. I've always been able to find a spot to workout (squat rack, free weights, etc) and have hardly ever had to wait for a machine. In the few times I have had to wait, it was super short or Ive been able to work into a set with another person. It's also incredibly clean with wonderful amenities. My ideal Saturday consists of getting to Equinox - completing a workout, steam room session (15-20 mins), shower and massage. Also, I definitely want to shoutout the trainer I worked with, Jordan! I saw results in 3 months of working with him than I have in over a year of training with someone else. There is also a full spa!! Shoutout to Hailey and Amelia!! I've had them both as massage therapists - and they were both AMAZING!!! Overall, is it pricey? Yes, but all of the benefits are more than worth it!!! So happy to have found this incredible gym!!!!
