Booked a table for six on my daughter's 19th birthday, but I was prevented from buying her wine to have with her meal, contrary to UK licencing law.
She had a copy of her driving license, I had a copy of her passport. Neither of these was accepted by staff, despite neither actually being required in law as I was the one doing the purchasing. (link below).
I asked for whatever ale they had on draught, only to be told five minutes later they'd run out and didn't have any draught ale. An English pub with no draught ale on a Saturday evening!
We left, and went to The Cherry Tree in Olney instead, where we had no problem ordering drinks, and had a lovely meal in a far superior premises with a much livlier atmosphere.
