It is welcoming, well run and clean. A wide selection of beers, spirits and real ales (with many guest ales) are kept in stock. There is a popular pool table. The food's pretty decent too - nothing fancy but it's a fair price and portions are sizeable - you won't leave hungry. If you should drop in for a swift half or decide to stay on for the whole night - I think you'll find that you'll definitely come back again!

Because of this, there's a great sense of community going on there, but new faces are always welcomed here too. I used to gig here in my younger years as mick and jackie had always been into music and promoting the local music scene. Quiz nights are always great fun and the service there is very quick. A really great place to go to and I think it caters for people who don't exactly feel accustom to gastro pub vibe. It's a very honest place with nice friendly people. Personally this was my first time here and I went with some friends if mine. The food was very good and served in a reasonable time, all dishes in one go meaning that attention has been paid from the chef. I had a lamb burger with potato wedges and coleslaw in a mango sauce. The meat was medium cooked as requested and the coleslaw very nice. My wife had a steak and ale pie. The stew was very tender and the sauce not bitter at all (Which us something that it happens very often). Can't comment on my friend dishes as they went for an ordinary sausages and scampi both with fries. However portions were generous enough. The pub is an old grade listed place and our was very nice to stay in. Chimney were off, but I'm sure that they can add a nice touch and make the environment very pleasant. Price wise, it's on the average. I'll will definitely go back again.
