After seeing a coupon in a local advertisement I decided to go to YD Spa for a waxing of my eyebrows and chin. An Oriental woman named Cindy proceeded to put very hot wax on my face. When I complained that it was too hot she began blowing on the hot wax to cool it down. Later that day and for the next several days my chin broke out in red spots. So. I was a little more than concerned after purchasing a Groupon to this place THEN reading the Yelp reviews, BUT I'm so glad I did! It seems like they've made some serious changes because the place was clean, relaxing, and did not include crabby aestheticians demanding unreasonable tips up front. They do, however, require you to pay the tax on the Groupon at the beginning. The salon itself looks a little discouraging on the outside, definitely reminiscent of a cheap nail salon in a strip mall, but the inside is a different story. It's bright and inviting, with fresh linens and a fresh scent. I gave an audible sigh of relief after I walked in. I've never gotten a massage before so I unfortunately have little to compare it to. I went in for my appointment on day 2 of a massive migraine. I had been going back and forth in my head about canceling it and just going home and getting some rest, but decided to push through. The massage therapist started off with a gentle full body massage and then applied more pressure as she went along. The gradual ease into it was perfect. My only complaint is that there was no calming music in the background until the very end when she applied the hot lava stones. For me, the silence was a little awkward until I started falling in and out of sleep. The hot lava stones were hands down the best part! I'd highly recommend including them in your session. I left the spa feeling rejuvenated and almost having a euphoric high. AND NO MORE HEADACHE! I'd definitely go back again! read more

Went for a couples massage for valentines day. The massage was terrible. I was in pain the whole time because the technician was applying too much pressure, even after I asked her not to. She had to stop a few times to answer the phone while giving the massage. I had a coupon for the session. She said I needed a hot stone massage but never told me I'd be paying extra. I bought a Groupon for a facial at this hole and am now getting a refund for the horrible experience. First of all, this is not a spa. It is a shop in a strip mall. The Groupon stated that this would be an organic facial (which was why I bought it in the first place)- not so! The woman who did my facial started off by telling me in her broken English that my skin was "not nice." What a lovely way to begin! She used facial tissues (aka Kleenex) to wipe my face in between the 3 different lotions/solutions/unknown substances she applied. There was no water involved in this whole experience, and much time was spent trying to get me to "add on" other treatments. Terrible, not a real spa. Also they force you to tip and it's a minimum of $10 for an hour. I was going to leave $5 because the massage was soo bad but Cindy made me tip her $10. Awkward. I can't imagine anyone other than a relative giving this place a favorable review. They are not even a spa. The place looks more like a nail salon. They screwed up my appointment time and told me to come back in an hour because the masseuse went to lunch on my appointment time. When I asked the manager how can they allow this to happen she didn't even apologize she said she doesn't control the staff. She was very rude and unprofessional. I immediately decided i was not spending my money here and left. Needless to say I would never go back to this place even if they offered free services. WHY ISN'T THERE AN OPTION FOR ZERO STARS?!?! Worse experience in a "spa" ever! I can't believe they can even be called a "spa" - it's a whole in a strip mall!! I had purchased a groupon for a 60 minute facial and a 30minute swedish massage. The massage consisted of petting my hands and feet for 10 minutes. That is NOT a Swedish massage! The entire appointment lasted for 50 minutes. The facial was suppose to be 1 hour and the massage 30 minutes. The facial was also the worse I have ever received - I was uncomfortable and I left with more product in my hair than on my face. The lady talked the whole time trying to sell me other services - that's NOT relaxing and i'm there to relax!! They also need a lesson in manners!! When she pulled the covers from my feet she yelled "ooooh big feet!" WHAT! Who the heck says that to a customer!!! Not the point here but I wear a size 9 and i'm 5'8 -that's pretty normal! This salon is not professional and I really hope they are not claiming to be trained massage therapists. I couldn't wait to run out of there! Take these reviews SERIOUSLY. I got a groupon as a gift and the massage was awful. The "masseuse" did a mediocre job but what was worse, she kept leaving throughout the massage, then claims that she needs more time to finish and tries to sell me on buying another half-hour so she can complete the massage. Then after seeing I had a bad experience, they didn't stop trying to sell me gift certificates on the way out the door. No thanks. I will NEVER go back. I wrote Groupon and demanded they give my friend a refund and stop doing business with them. Called for 2nd asked for ivy and made appt.for (10/6) againg they tried tosell you hard tissue massage for addtl $10 I said give me what I paid asked if Ivy was my masseuse response YES. I purchased a massage Geoupon to this spa in 2012. I found booking the appointment to be very easy and the woman who worked there was very nice. While the spa isn't fancy, it was clean and pleasant. The masseuse was an older Asian woman who did an excellent job. I've been back numerous times and have never had an issue with bad service. I'm not sure about all of the negative reviews, and perhaps these people had unrealistic expectations considering they bought a massage for $30. read more

The owner of the Spa does not have a very nice attitude. They advertise one price and charge you more when you go there saying that it is only the basic price...kinda of a scam. In addition, the place looks clean, but I found them using the sheets over and over again and just getting the wrinkles out. I don't know why the Orange health department does not check on this establishment. Also, some of the therapists cannot speak English. How can they get their license? That's another major problem. This place should be closed until corrections are made!!! Beware of the owner, YD, herself. She claims she is not the owner, but actually is. They also try to sell you more and get angry if you don't comply. Nobody should be forced! Be very careful of this place...it is a disgrace. read more

I want to start by saying that I went here for the first time earlier this week bc I bought a Groupon. Imagine my surprise when I pulled up to what looked like a hole in the wall nail salon in a beat up strip mall. This is a spa? When I went to check out the "receptionist" pulled a bait and switch on me which I did not like one bit. I called last week to book a 90-minute signature spa massage which is listed for $95 on their website. I was very clear. I then got a massage, assuming that I would get the service that I booked. When I went to pay she charged me $135 instead of $95. I pulled up her website and showed her the price for the service I booked. She said no, you had the hot lava stone and deep tissue massage. I said, maybe I did, and it was great, however, that is not what I booked and since it's my first time here how the hell would I know that I wasn't getting what I booked. It was a ridiculous case of bait and switch which ended up costing me $40. I told her that it was wrong to do this, but she didn't care. This is not only bad business it is dishonest. I gave her a chance to make the situation right and she did not. I told her I would have no choice except to post a bad review. I would not go here again - please do not patronage businesses who aim to lie to and cheat their customers out of $$$. read more
