Really cool experience! Went with a group of girls and we had drinks, appetizers and painted for 2 hours. I hadn't painted in a long time and forgot how relaxing it is to paint on a canvas. The artist walked us through all the steps to create the painting. There was no rush, you had a lot of time between steps to work on each part of the painting. It was a bit crowded to have food, drinks and paint on the table, but we managed quite well. On a side note, the bar menu had fried mushrooms and hummus w/veggies for those that don't eat meat. I had recently attended a Paint Nite in TGIF in Rockville Center NY, to start the night the food was aweful and the cocktails even worse. Moving on to the main event our painting, I have atttended several of these events in different locations along with several other friends,when it was not yaymaker. Upon entering the room the canvas on display that was to represent the painting looked nothing like the painting online. When we questioned the instructor his replied everyone has their own uniqueness to the canvas. WHAT was he joking I'm thinking this looks like a 5 year olds! I said ok give it a chance oh boy was I wrong! The music in the background was so loud & inappropriate for this event! He gave no instruction in any kind of step by step guidance! When you asked a guestion he replied it's cool WHAT! I left with basically a blank canvas, & every canvas in that room had no resemblance to the one we ALL were hoping to paint! I have made several attempts to contact the company with no response! Sorry to say not sure I will attend any future events since you can go online & have better instruction! read more

Paint Nite was definitely a fun event. I'm by no means artistically inclined but the instructor went really slowly and tried to make it as simple as possible. The result? Well...less than impressive, but I'm sure my mother will love it and hang it on her wall. As for the venue...it was cute but I wish that Paint Nite had worked out a drink deal. Drinks were full price ($15 a piece) and the space was a little cramped. I'm getting used to the cramped though as it is Manhattan. I came in a group of 3 and we couldn't sit together...only spaces for 2 people. Only 3 guys in the entire class-all part of a couple. Gentlemen, do with that what you will (lots of single girls, alcohol, and an easy conversation topic?). All in all it was a fun event. read more

So i attended the paint nite at the Trattoria Lucia in Bellrose, Ny with instructor Amanda Francin. I have to say I had fun despite the crappy supplies and crappier instruction, mostly due to the yummy very strong drinks I ordered. So the supplies they give you are all cheap, used, and unwashed. You get two large, throughly stained paint brushes, water in a used plastic cup that muddies it (how much do plastic cups cost that you have to reuse them?), dirty paint stained aprons, and really cheap scratchy canvases. For 60$ a ticket I really expected to have clean nicer supplies. I understand art supplies are expensive... But used plastic cups? And they obviously don't take care of the stuff they do have. My second complaint is with the actual instructor. She was a really poor teacher, that didn't seem to be too knowledgeable about what she was saying. I paint myself, and therefore have some skill, but most people going to these events are novices and have no idea what to do. This instructor went too fast, didn't wait for everyone. Was doing things without telling everyone what she was doing, and part way through just gave up on instruction. Everyone was confused and lost. My party members pretty much just did our own thing. I would really recommend not taking an event with this instructor. My friend and I mostly had a good time due to the fact that we got drunk and started experimenting. read more

My first Paint Nite experience was last month at The Hill over in Murray Hill to take on Swing into Summer, which is only a two on the their five-point difficulty scale. Let me start off by saying I am artistically challenged. I'm so bad that I had trouble cutting out snowflakes back in December - they all looked more like squares than flakes! I also haven't painted anything (aside from walls) in well over a decade. That being said, I was satisfied with the level of difficulty and ultimately with how my painting turned out. The instructor guided us through the brushes, colors, strokes, and shapes needed as we created one morsel at a time - horizontal strokes for the sky, circles for the clouds, lines for tree branches, dabs for the leaves, etc. She'd also walk around to give spot-checks (particularly to those paintings facing her as she walked by), but if you really felt lost or doubting yourself I'd suggest speaking up, since then she'd stop by and spend more time to help set you on the right track. There were some times where it would've been more helpful if she were a bit more detailed in her instruction: for example, she would say something like "just do a stroke over here" and then after everyone did it we realized it would've been better if instead of any old stroke that we did it as thin as physically possible since we were starting to paint tree branches. My main piece of advice is to position yourself to see as much of the instructor's painting as possible. I'd suggest sitting somewhere so when facing forward you can always see the instructor's painting, and then on top of that sitting in between people so you can look left and right as they're attempting to follow the steps. Since the instructor will stand directly in front of the painting when working on it (as opposed to the side of it, Bob Ross style), it may help to be very close to the painting, and even a bit to the side so you can see her as she's painting. Paint Nite was a great value, even a Groupon had not discounted it down to $33. It's much cheaper than buying paintings yourself, you end up exceeding your (even limited) artistic expectations, and you get to create something cool. Definitely try it out if you haven't already! read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE I sign up for an event and without any advanced notice the event was cancelled. The least you can expect when something is cancelled is an email or a phone call from the company. After all, you are required to provide an e-mail address and phone number when you are purchasing their service. How did I find out that event was canceled? - 2 days before the event I go to the website to check how many people had signed up for the same event that I signed up for and I was unable to find the event!? Since Paint Nite doesn't have a phone number, I called the restaurant that the event was going to take place and the restaurant proceeds to tell me that "all painting events have been rescheduled until August" Luckily for me I didn't go all the way to restaurant for nothing. Shame on Paint Nite for their lack of professionalism in customer service for not informing their paid customers of this change. I sent an email to paint nite outlining how disappointed I was for not being notified that the event was canceled and how absurd and disrespectful that I as a customer had to find out the way I did by calling the restaurant. The response that the paint nite provided me was simply a voucher code that can be used to book an even with NO apologies whatsoever. Disturbed with the fact that the company did not apologize, I emailed them back saying that I prefer my money back as I prefer not to work with a company that was poor in providing customers service. Answer: none, they ignored me. Summary of my observation: In my personal opinion, the company has zero respect for the customer and perhaps its business model may solely be concentrated in profitability with no intention to provide any professional customer service. Whether or not you have a different perspective of what I outlined I hope my review helps people not to experience this horrific situation. read more

I came to the event at the Essex Restaurant and it was pretty cramped which made it difficult to work. Everyone was tipping over their paintings and their water cups because it was so cramped. They also ran out of paper plates to hold the watercolors which made getting the colors mixed right very difficult. It was a fun event but they really need to book the right amount of people for the space and make sure the amount of supplies are sufficient. read more

My first experience was not the best but after giving paint nite another chance I was pleasantly surprised. I bought the paint class as a bday gift to my girlfriend and we had the best time. The instructors were professional and a lot of fun. Being able to have a glass of wine was also a highlight. Got a deal off of living social for paintnite and it was awesome! Our event was at Woodrows in tribeca and the easels were all set up in the back room. We got our beers and were lucky to get a seat near the artist. I recommend getting there about ten minutes early to pick out a good spot. My friend and I are not artists at all so it was useful being so close. The actual painting was great. The artist really goes step by step and then you have enough time to finish each section. She was helpful when we had questions and really made a point to compliment each person's painting. Overall, my friend and I were very impressed with the event and our paintings turned out so much better then we thought they would! We can't wait to bring our friends here and try out more paintings. read more

My first time attending a paint nite event with my gf. This event was located at the cupping room cafe. Arrived early and the instructor checked us in and allowed us to choose whichever seats were available. Waiters come around to take your orders for drinks/food. The instructor went at a steady pace, explaining to us how we should tackle the painting while giving us time to work on it. He was also taking pictures throughout the night to be posted on facebook I suppose. Overall fun and relaxing. read more

If I can give no stars I would. NYC beware. The Groupon deal does cover the full ticket and you have to pay $20 on top. What do I need a Groupon for then!! Paint Nite customer service was no help and stated that NYC events are pricier. Obviously I know that, again what do I need the Groupon for. One of the best experiences! Yes like the other reviews said.. it can be kinda tight (you are in a regular restaurant) and you have to pay full price for drinks.. but if you get one of the deals it's totally worth it. The instructor really guides you step by step through the whole painting and is always walking around if you have questions. She even brought over her canvas one time to show us how it looked. They run the class very well.. they had all the canvases and easels ready to go when you walk in. You get a set of brushes when you check in. The paint is set up and tells you how many pumps you'll need of each color to get you ready. Overall great experience I will absolutely do it again!! read more

I would of gave them no star if it was possible. This company yaymaker is a scammer. They tell you to buy your ticket in advance. I bought about 5 ticket for different event for 2019-2020 in New Jersey. They continue to cancel my event send me a code to schedule a new which I did. Than the covid-19 hit. They cancel all of tickets refuse to refund me $199.00 for my tickets. Still today I'm fighting to get my money back. No response to my money back, no email response, or no phone to contact anyone. They are the worst company and scammers. I was a loyalty customer went twice a month for the last two year and this how they have treated there customers. This company need to be reported to the Attorney General of New Jersey, BBB, and to FTC. Read the BBB complaints you would see what I'm talking about. They use to be call Paint Nite change the name to yaymaker because they had they same problem sadly. read more

I went to NYC to visit some college friends of mine. We usually do the same...dinner, drinks, bar hopping and dancing...over and over again. Don't get me wrong, it's always a good time but we decided to try Paint Nite NYC one night instead. It was AWESOME!!! It is finally something different yet affordable! I bought 2 tickets for a Christmas present for my boyfriend on black friday so we were able to get each ticket half off. I would not pay the full price, not because its not worth it, but because Im an actor=poor. I had SUCH a fun time at the event. They teach you how to paint the chosen painting, but most of the time is spent just goofing off and doing whatever you like. It was a very chill atmosphere and such a great idea. If you are an ounce creative and like to drink definitely do it and dont think you need painting experience...both my bf and I have never painted before. My only negative would be that a complimentary drink would be nice with your ticket (especially if you pay full price). read more

Where should I start - 0 stars would be first. The only thing convenient and acceptable about this site was the ease of taking my money for an event that did not occur. The first eamil that I received confirming the event indicated that the time for the paint event was central time. The morning of the event the notice confirmed that the time was eastern time. I decided I could log in eastern and if not, then central would work too. Well, regardless the event host never signed in for the event for which I purchased three tickets. They also never cancelled the event. When attempting to get a response from the website, all I kept receiving was the same automated email giving me "articles" to read about the rules and terms. These never addressed why I am charged if the event never happens AND is never cancelled. It also did not say how to get the refund. There should be a way that the customer is not charged if the host does not initiate a call or cancel the event. This is very disturbing and also to read other reviews which I should have paid attention to at the beginning. I am very disappointed how this business works and on top of that, in a time when people really want to rely upon virtual events to help at this time. I did not cancel on the event or elect not to attend but I am being penalized so I do not think that the option to "reschedule" rather than getting a refund should apply in this type of situation. I had one great experience with Paint Nite and a horrible one on my second time around. I didn't even get to go paint. I tried to schedule one and realized that the Groupon voucher was only good for a full price admission outside of NYC. I specifically searched for deals for NYC and it indicated 60 locations available. All 60 locations cannot be outside of NYC so this would count as a false advertisement. I contacted Paint Nite for assistance and the rep emailed wrote "on the bright side, the voucher is good for $45" so I can pay $25 extra for each ticket. read more

If you work in any sort of creative field or have the slightest skill in painting this isn't for you. We ended up having fun which was probably due to the strong 1/2 priced happy hour drinks at Essex. But the paint was cheap (think huge jugs of tempera from 3rd grade art class) the teacher was an artist but iffy. The host didn't really care, she seemed like this was her part time gig. The bartender was on her cell phone the whole time. We got there early to have a drink and didn't end up getting served until long after we started the painting. And there was no food nor room to order food. What? We were coming straight from work and starving. And the worst part of all - the room was SO CROWDED. I could hardly take a picture of my painting because my face and body was so close to it, couldn't get up to go to the bathroom, and couldn't even talk to any of the other painters. I'm not one to bash things like this, but we were so excited to go to a fun relaxed event and it ended up being a real joke. read more

When this was Paint n Sip it was wonderful. Now that it is Yaymaker it has totally gone downhill. Twice my confirmation came to my email but apparently not to the paint site. I wanted to bring my daughter for a mother/daughter paint night before she returned to college. The manager of the Albany Yaymaker was there. I found my confirmation on my cell phone but she said she could not honor it if it wasnt on her phone. She grabbed my canvas and easel and took it away as if I were 5 years old. She said nothing to me when I showed her the proof that I had indeed purchased the tickets. She was extremely unprofessional. She was slovenly in appearance and speech. The entire evening she looked bored and just played with her cell phone. She said she was the manager? I have brought many friends to Paint and Sip. I am totally done with Yaymaket. Dont waste your money!!! I also notice the classes have been getting much smaller. Not a good sign, Yaymaker. There is not one yay from this customer. read more

UPDATE: I emailed my feedback to the company, and they offered to let us do another Plant Nite event free of charge. My friends and I are going to sign up for one next month, so I will update again afterwards. So much fun! We painted at Sarabeth's Tribeca- it was a fun group in a cool location, the artist and coordinator were super helpful (getting us more paint, taking pics) and they had a separate waiter for our area to serve drinks and/or appetizers. I would definitely do it again! read more

I recently went to a paint nite. I love the concept. I was actually able to paint something and I can't even draw a straight line. What I didn't like was the white-trashy instructor and her commentary. She was saying things like "how big do we like it girls?" She was also cursing which was such a turnoff. Music was bizarre. The instructor was older so she put her music on which was annoying. I would think classical would be a better choice. Anyway, I would try again but not with this instructor as she was unprofessional. read more

Was here last night with my sister and the venue was at Southern Hospitality in a dark and dank bar downstairs. We got there a bit late and were sat at the bar as the only two seats available in an overcrowded area with no protection on the bar and no aprons. We had to wait to get the drainage rocks and soil that were the scraps at the bottom of a barrel and then got plants that were literally falling apart. We then had to wait for the small stones to complete the project and were totally ignored by the Hostess as she kept going to the same tables over and over and when we called out to her she didn't respond or acknowledge us. Finally our kind bartender, Amanda, went over to her to tell her that we needed help. The hostess then came over all sweaty and mumbled something and placed a bucket with literally three big rocks and some sharpies in it and no pebbles - which we had to wait for again. My sister and I completed the project, boxed it up and left. Never ever, ever, ever doing this again. Plant Nite was not up to par and the materials were inadequate at best. Very disappointed with the entire experience. If I could give a zero star rating I would. read more

The staff was professional and they had a professional painter guiding thru the entire event which made it easier for me to paint. It's also a great way to meet people and network also. At the Cupping Room... Went a couple of months ago with 3 other people... Venue was a bit tight, but we had an awesome time! The instructor was very helpful and his directions were clear.... We left with 4 paintings that resembled the original, but certainly had a personal touch from each one of us!!! The time flew by!!! read more

I have yet to go to my paint nite but the process of booking was a nightmare. The website kept crashing every time I tried to purchase my tickets and there was about 2 hours in which I was unsure if the purchase went through. I tried to find a number I could call to confirm but there is no live person to talk to. I purchased a groupon and was so excited about this until I had to go through the process of copying and pasting the groupon codes each time while the server kept crashing. Very frustrating. I hope the painting experience is better than the purchasing experience. I have high hopes for this as it looks so fun. read more

I experienced a Paint Nite with a group of friends a few days ago. We got there 15 minutes early as we were told. We then sat for over an hour because the instructor was not organized and they did not have enough canvases for everyone so we had to sit and wait for someone to deliver more. Class was scheduled for 7, they did not start until 8. Totally unprofessional. The whole time, they kept saying buy more drinks! So it almost felt like a set up just to purchase alcohol. By the time we started I was thoroughly disgusted. The artist was mediocre at best, and it felt like a factory setting with people sitting on top of each other and no real personal interaction. Lots of money for the tickets, wouldn't do it with the company again. read more

i went at last minute to stone creek- for starry night painting.. last thursday.. so cool to try that- instructor was a nice young woman-- they baby you- it was so funny- like for folks who are intrepid to paint.. so the momma brush.. the poppa brush. im second grader... the baby brush.. anyway- there were many steps to this painting.. and she doesnt really instruct but flits around showing demonstrating each step- but i did not like the way it came out.. for a master reproduction it looks better to use a stencil..better to paint non master stuff with pn.. missing major technique of vvg there is no good lighting to do a nice painting..in a bar area its too dark.. not conducive to a serious work like v van goh.. plus space small and narrow with 30 people seated around and hard to concentrate when other diners are coming and going..and even though i booked with voucher at 3 pm i thought it didnt go through as i was last person to make it sold out and the system says oops sold out- and i had no confirmation- but i went thinking i may not be on list but i was.. would not go unless its discounted.. not really worth $28.. fun with lots of people.. but may learn more by doing actual paint by numbers except for tedious tiny spaces .. kind of fun though.. last night tried to cancel a sunday venue and their system asked me for $20 additional cancel due to it being cancel under 48 hrs.. really?? a few weeks ago they cancelled one i booked four hours but gave me a credit and no other compensation .. nervy.. so i am not giving additional $20 fee and am going.. but buyer beware read more
