Tom was our instructor for paint night at clear lake restaurant in queens, Long Island City. My friends and I had a blast! He was very witty and kept the class interesting. We will definitely be doing this again! Highly recommend Yaymaker! Thanks for these events, would love to see more in queens!

DIY succulent garden

Knowing that I am an avid gardener living in a garden-less apartment, my friends took me here to for my surprise birthday celebration. This event was held in Fushia restaurant in Long Island City. We were given a wooden planter box, a glove, cactus soil, trowels, drainage rocks, decorations and 3 succulents to choose from. The instructor then guided us on each step of the process and how to care for the plants. We can decorate the garden with as much rocks, moss or birds that was provided. You can order food & drinks from the restaurant during the event. However, I would be careful with eating/drinking while planting as loose soil can get into your food. In the middle of the session, there was a joke competition. If you come up with the funniest joke, you win a free plant nite. At the end of the session, you bring home your little succulent garden. Overall, it was a fun experience.

So I loved Paint Nite and enjoyed several past events, however since it has changed to Yaymaker this year; I am yet to successfully attend a event. I had 2 events cancelled prior to the Paint Nite in February and March this year. This is ridiculous. It feels as though the establishment is collecting money and never booking the events. Meanwhile - All I get is a Voucher for a future event that will probably get cancelled....again! I'll be even lucky to get any selection choices for Alexandria or Springfield. Don't even waste your time buying vouchers to use later at lower prices, you'll be lucky if you ever get to redeem them before they expire.

I went to Paint Nite last night and it was really awesome! The painting they show you when you sign up looks hard (even for easy) and you're like I can never paint that. But the instructor is so nice and really shows you how to do it, detail by detail. I was shocked at the end by my result. No criticism, no one trying to correct you, just a good time with friends. Would def go again. The one at went to was at Maxwell's Tavern in Hoboken. Mixed crowd of young and old, and families. NOT BYOB

I came here on a Thursday night, we were a group of 3 and had a good time. The seating arrangements are in groups of 3 and it is a little crowded. I wish I had more space but our teacher was great and even funny at times. You have the option of purchasing food and drinks at the bar but this slows down the class; it doesn't really start at 7pm because everyone is congregated at the bar trying to get drinks & there's only 1 bartender & 1 waitress. Expect a 7:20pm start. The location I went to was Bowlmor Lanes and it was great. We were very happy with our paintings and the process was much easier than we thought. Overall, a cool experience but book ASAP especially if you plan on going with a group, as the classes on the website book up quickly. Enjoy!

Booking: I purchased a groupon for the Paint Nite event ($69 for two) and went on the Paint Nite website for an event selection in NYC area. Many events were sold out a week in advance, and I eventually picked a Thursday night event at Bowlmor with the artist Daryl. The web interface was very user-friendly and the booking was smooth and convenient. The event night: the event was located at Bowlmor, Times Square's massive bowling venue, in a sectioned off area with a small bar area serving cocktails and wines. Our party of two ordered a bottle of Riesling ($39) and the wine worked wonders in fueling our creativity through the painting. Even if the sold out event had ~80 in attendance, the event flowed well and relaxing and the instructor attended to our various questions. What made it more fun was her humorous attitude and non-ending jokes, which were made even funnier with the wine influence. Great experience!!!

I went with my mother since she wanted to do it and I was pleasantly surprised at how fun it was! We did the rose bowl and was told that it is one of the smaller ones they do. They had plenty of colored sand and rocks and succulents to choose from. We even got a little frog, which was not part of our package. Easy to follow instrcutions. They have their own discount on their website so compare it to Groupon if you want.

Always have a good time with my friends at these events. I've done this a few times. There are usually several paintings happening across the city daily. You can view the calendar on the website. The classes are held at a bar, lounge or restaurant so you can also purchase drinks and food to enjoy as you paint. You get step by step instructions on how to create your works of arts but you also have some freedom to make your masterpiece special. It's been my experience that venues that are smaller tend to be better because no matter how many people are there, there is only one instructor. He/she is able to come around more often to offer advice or encouragement. I always go home happy. There is usually a deal on groupon or living social.

I've been to Paint Nite, and some competitors, a few times. Like everyone, I love the concept of drinking with friends and being guided through the creation of a personal painting, something I would never do on my own. And like a lot of people, I always end up concentrating on painting so hard that I barely drink! Lame. The TriBeCa location is super tight (not as in cool, but as in once you're in your seat I hope you don't have to leave). Get there early to get a seat up front so you can see the instructor better. And be prepared to drink, because I'm pretty sure you're required to buy at least 2 drinks while you're there!

THE 5 STARS IS FOR THE PAINTNITE EVENT. THE VENUE WHERE THE EVENT I ATTENDED, WOODROW'S, GETS ZERO STARS!!! The paint instructor was pleasant and nice and gave us enough tine to finish each painting step. He gave individual pointers and helped us create our masterpieces. All in all, HE was nice and helpful. It is a SHAME that the wait staff at WOODROW'S created a nasty heavy dark cloud on the event. She had a NASTY ATTITUDE to the point of calling one of the PaintNite'ers "CHUBBY" during an ARGUMENT. Who does that?!?! This waitress was very unapologetic. The whole thing made me not order drinks during the event cause (1) I didn't want to give this place more business, and (2) I didn't want to tip this inept and rude waitress. I will never come back to this place! Not even for a PaintNite event (which i LOVE) or a cheap drink! If I had 20 thumbs, they'd all be pointing down for this venue AND this one particular wait staff. STAY AWAY FROM WOODROW'S! THE HORROR!

They cancel events without you knowing, and do not do anything to accommodate you for your time and money wasted. Highly disappointed!

My best friend and I hired Pop Up Picnic NYC for our birthday celebration…read more I loved that a location was chosen for us, given my little knowledge of the park. We were situated in a spot with a great view of Belvedere Castle and close to restroom access. This was such a sweet way for our friends and us to celebrate each other during the day. All setup was included and the aesthetic and atmosphere was the perfect combination of casual, cozy, and fancy that we were looking to achieve. Setup includes lots of blankets, pillows, 2 outdoor games, and a board of snacks. This is a wife and husband duo and their local, small business - was wonderful to be able to support them and the creative business model they've established. Once we arrived, they made sure to spend time to ensure we were comfortable and to get to know us before they left us to celebrate. It was apparent they put lots of time and love into their efforts and the setup! There was a last minute 45 minute pushback in our reservation time. As I understand, this was driven by catering and I felt like the company handled it professionally and they were sure to extend our time on the back end. Luckily we were able to do so as we did not have other plans that this impeded. The pricing is a bit on the steep end; however, more manageable if splitting with other members of your party. It also is rather comparable to other companies I inquired with. A few recommendations and suggestions I have for Pop Up Picnic NYC include: - Providing more water, even a cooler with water bottles would've been great as those were heavy to lug around - Shade. It ended up being a rather hot day and we were not near any shade, perhaps moving the space a bit to find some shade or including decor options that provide shade (umbrella, etc) - Access to the owners and info on the company is all through Instagram. It was great having access to images and videos from their previous picnics; however, there was limited access to what exactly the company offers. Even a one-pager that could be shared via email to explain the various options (including pricing & logistics) would've been great in speeding up the booking process - If able (I'm not at all familiar with park rules here), offering alcoholic beverage options/packages would certainly be worth considering. I would have absolutely given that option a look through All being said, I would absolutely recommend booking with Pop Up Picnic NYC for an event you're looking to plan. I will also have them top of list myself going forward when looking to book a similar event - I can only imagine how cozy one of their picnics would be in the fall. Thanks to Stephanie and team for making our birthdays memorable!!

He was very communicative--even with the 13 hour time difference, I was able to coordinate with him easily. I had my husband be taken out of the house three hours before the party to set up... the balloon arch was delivered right on time. The photographer showed up half an hour earlier than the party. The magician I wanted to hire was booked somewhere else and I only found out a few days before, but the balloon sculpture artist Mark recommended instead was an absolute hit with the kids as well as the adults, which was a pleasant surprise. He made my husband the most outrageous birthday hat. Right when he was supposed to be done, one of the kids tripped and popped his balloons and got upset, and he stayed longer to make him (and a few other stragglers) more balloons. Truly kind. The photographer David was also really so helpful, friendly, and on it! He came early and helped with some of the set up... he was attentive and also very nice to talk to. Very natural (sometimes it's awkward when a photographer's in your face taking pictures but it wasn't awkward at all). We got a USB full of pictures right after the party! Upper East Side, Yorkville

Have your part(ies) here!…read more We used EDBM to throw a party at The East Wing (Upper East Side) for my daughter's 1st birthday celebration. My wife and I were beyond pleased! They guided us along from the beginning exploratory conversations, through the booking, the food and room setup, to the execution of the event. Wow...they are awesome and they know their stuff! Everything was a smashing success. Special kudos to how they knew all of what to expect too...ie. they were spot on right down to knowing certain foods wouldn't really be eaten as much as others (yes, we went against their advice and yes, we were wrong...lol...but good news is I have tons of leftovers for lunch this week!) Other notes: East Wing is perfect for about 50 people, especially if you need tables and other things laid out in the space. Its well lit but private, their is a bathroom in the room, there are great nooks and crannies to store things (strollers, presents, etc) and the food is both delicious and portioned correctly. We did a lot of research and the way EDBM prices its party packages is by far the best, especially for the nicer ambiance and food quality. They are upfront with all their charges, and at the end of the day, you definitely get more for your money than you would at other places around town of similar size and service. Also, a special kudos to their onsite party host, Lindsay. She is a master party manager, bartender, hostess, problem solver, and generally kind-spirited person. She answered questions, made us comfortable and assisted us in every possible way. Amazing at her job! They all are - Christine, Niki and Brittany. Bravo! We would 100% recommend EDBM to any and all who seek a suggestion for where to have a party.

I can't remember all of the names but I believe there was a Brittany, Christine and I want to say Kate. Our first part of the night we started off at the Gin Mill for dinner. I got to be honest the food was a lot better than what I thought it was going to be. Pasta, Chicken, Steak, potatoes, tator tots, all delicious. Maggie, who was I guess the host of the party was excellent along with our bartender. I cannot remember her name but she was blonde (sorry) and very on top of whatever drinks we needed. I rate everything at this place a 10 Our limo driver Steve who was flat out the man...enough said!!!!! He catered to us as best as he could and went above and beyond. I would definitely have him as a limo driver again. As Steve took us to Down the hatch, the bartenders were there ready to wait on us, and they didn't disappoint. (Maggie called ahead for us!) The one down point of the night was when we ordered wings the staff brought the wings and set them up over on a shelf by the main door. The bouncer came over and asked us to clear the doorway. I understand 100% he was doing his job, but this is where the staff put the wings. I explained to him that we will move out of the way the best we could to not block the doorway, but asked him where were we going to go to eat? I said if you can find us a table I will gladly move. This bouncer had a Dallas Cowboys hat on and, said " you want me to find you a table, not my problem. Okay guy! We left immediately! Guy was just a rude................well you get the point. I called Maggie to explain to her the situation immediately and made sure she knew that we were not out of control, not causing any problems etc.... Next up, 3 sheets saloon. Everything about this place was outstanding. We had a waitress and I can't remember her name, but she was from Australia and she just kept bringing round after round until the open bar time was up! The bouncer Ivan was pretty awesome too. He kept us entertained throughout the night. All in all, the night turned out to be a good time..and I would recommend booking as everything went smoothly with the exception of the bouncer issue, but one guy with an ego, wasn't going to ruin our night.
