The experience included a topless server (male) for our party, an instructor and a nude model (also male). Something else that wasn't specified was if you had a female model if you would also have a female server? So not sure on that. I would guess she would be in a bikini or bra top as no nude photography is allowed and they walk around during the entirety of the event serving drinks and handing out pencils as needed. This would be a fun event to celebrate bachelorette parties (obviously), but you could also utilize their services for any type of gathering. I can so see a ladies night in with my friends doing this, but she also mentioned divorce parties (in which case can we have a group of male models I'll take 5 thank u), birthdays for the artsy friend, baby shower because clearly they've seen someone nude and nobody likes baby shower games (she didn't say that but I couldn't resist).... anyways, I digress. The only thing I wish I'd had more of was explanation. Some of them felt kind of rushed and I had no idea how to shade which was detrimental to my artistry (jk my hands are detrimental to my artistry more than anything else)... Would definitely do this again!

Each round went pretty quickly, so I wish I could have taken a bit more time to draw.

We arrived, picked the designs we liked, and started right away. They give you a few tips, but you're pretty much on your own. We were advised it would take approx 2 hrs, but it took us closer to 3 hrs. You should plan a little extra time. Oh and you can buy a cup of Turkish coffee and they also give you a cup of pomegranate tea. I tried both and loved it! Once you're done painting, you can bake your plates in your oven for about 30 minutes and they're ready! They also have Turkish lamp making class and it looks also fun. I'd like to go back and try the class too.

We all booked online and were able to pick which lamp we wanted to design. I chose the swan lamp. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and once checked in we got situated at a table with a few other guests. I am in love with the space. First off, it's in a business area, and on a Sunday, there was no one else around. My GPS had difficulty finding the exact spot but once I had the suite number it was easy to find. When we walked in you could see how bright and airy this space is. Before the start of class, we had time to chit chat and walk around to get ideas for our lamps. Our teacher (I think her name was Oun?) was super sweet and walked us through each step. The first step is laying out your design. We were served Turkish coffee and a Turkish treat, (for an extra charge) during this step. During the step where we glue on the tiles we were served the pomegranate tea that came with the price of the class. At the end of our 2+ hours we were given instructions on how to make the cement to seal all the mosaic tiles in and once I do that, I will post photos of my finished product. We all had a blast and would 100000% recommend coming here to get artsy.

We stopped at Eatzi's on the way to pick up wine for the girls, beer for the boy, and snacks to nom on. The building was hard to find, because it was not well-lit in the front, but it will probably be the only storefront that is lit at all. We walked in, threw our drinks in the fridge and got to work sorting through all the books of idea paintings. I have never considered myself very artistic and was pretty nervous to pick something out and completely butcher it, but I found something that I thought I would probably buy if I saw it in a store and went to work. This was one of the most fun random Friday nights I have had in Dallas. Susan was fantastic and helped us all try different techniques and ideas. We made friends with the other parties there, both young and old. And all of our canvases turned out so well! All of our different styles came out clearly with art that we can all definitely hang on our walls. We will be back here for sure!

Scheduling was very easy via email. I attended the painting class with my sister. What makes this class unique is that each student (about 10-12 students in the class) chooses an image (many provided at the beginning of class) or brings their own to use for inspiration versus the step-by-step group format. The instructor, E, was awesome and gave individualized advice on how he would go about executing the painting and was really patient with beginners (like me). There are a variety of acrylic paints and tools (brushes, knives, etc.) at students' disposal. A few pointers: bring low-maintenance beverages and snacks, wear clothes you don't mind ruining, abstract images seem to be the way to go, and have a great time.
