After touring Yarrow Bay I was left unsatisfied with the center. The assistant director could not answer basic questions such as what room my child would be in, if he would even have the same teachers on a normal basis, about safety protocols she mearly gave us basic answers such as there's keypad entry to the front door, incident reports we were told we would receive a report upon incident with no further explanation. I left the center determined that they were terrible. I toured another kindercare later, the director at this Kindercare encouraged me to go back and express my concerns with their new director. So I did. Their new director is on vacation so I got to speak with the step in director. I expressed some of my concern. She takes me to a classroom where there was only 1 teacher and including my son 10 kids where the max is supposedly 7/1, some of these children did not belong in that room and were running back and forth between rooms! I was introduced to the teacher and told there is another room with 2 other teachers for my son's age, I ask what room he would be in and she also couldn't tell me. She then says she will be right back leaving me in the room for half an hour. During the 30 minutes in the room the teacher who didn't speak English well seemed overwhelmed and did not show interest in the children. There were 7 if including my son whom I was watching in the room after breakfast. One child climbed onto the counter and sat in the sink three times. After setting in the sink afew minuets each time with fear of him falling I removed him twice, the third time I pointed it out to the teacher who ran over in a fright and put him down. Another child played in the water in the sinks that are their height. I pointed this out to the teacher who told her not to play in the sink. This little girl goes to play in the toy area clothes soaking wet the teacher did not change them. At this point I decide it is time to find the step in director. I find her in the infant room with 4 babies where there are no teachers. She asked how I like the classroom, I tell her what I observed and said that I felt the teacher was overwhelmed. She opens the adjoining door to a slightly older group of infants and one of the two teachers in there comes into the room. We leave the infant room at the same time but as she got her shoes on quicker than I she left us sitting there in the hallway alone. I go back to the room we had been in thinking she went there and she hadn't. She walks past me then and into her office and as I went to follow her she closed the door in my face. We waited outside her office and she comes out still on her phone to usher my son and I into the lobby. As we waited parents walked in and out, I asked some about the staff and their experience, most of them seemed oblivious to the goings on in the daycare. All said they did not have any trouble with the daycare but none could answer specific questions about staff or protocols other than that there is key pad entry. While waiting I also talked to my son's father who told me to leave the application we filled out anyway as this was the only daycare with immediate opening, our son would have to go here for a couple of weeks till we found better accomadashions. The step in director then comes into the lobby still on the phone and puts them on hold and asked if I had more questions. I said yes I wanted to know which room my son would be in, if he would be in that room every day, further detail on safety protocols and incident reports, I requested codes for the keypad and asked who to make the payments out to on the checks. She tells me that the check is due his first day and that I would receive an email with the rest of the info I was requesting before his first day. She then took the phone off hold and talked to the caller as she skimmed through my application only stopping briefly to point and say sign here to me. After signing she shook my had and said she would see me on the 22nd. It is now Saturday. The center is only open Monday through Friday, my son is suppose to start Monday and I have not received an email. This center is unorganized, shows a lack in concern for your concerns and a lack of interest in your children. They did not communicate well, which makes me question if they are unable to give me info as basic as what room my child is in how do I expect them to communicate with me if there is an incident and my child is hurt? I have zero faith in this center and will not be leaving my child there. I risk losing my new job telling them I could start because I will not risk my child's safety by leaving him at this center! I encourage all parents with children in this center to seak other daycare options and for all parents looking for options to seak them elsewhere! read more
