I think Yardies has the best tasting potato salad in the area. Although in my experience, it's not always available but when it is available, it's a must have. The Mac n Cheese is okay but who can match moms? Is it wrong for me to compare? NO! Although I love the Jerk dish, this Jerk chicken was not the spiciest. It was flat, even with the sauce but still consumable. My purchase from Yardies did the job! This is a grab n go but they offer light seating. Kiosk have been installed in the center of the floor for your convenience, not mine! Cash or credit prices are the same, HIGH! INSPIRE MORE, YELP MORE! read more

First, I love the update to the restaurant. I'm not sure when it was done because I haven't been there for a while. It looks great. It has a cool decor and I like that you can now order from a screen and wait for your order to be called. While on a diet, I just ordered the jerk chicken with a side of cabbage slaw. Both times the chicken was fresh, well seasoned, and juicy. The slaw was fresh, tasty and crunchy. I thoroughly enjoyed. read more

If you have in Jamaica queens this is the go to spot for your late night cravings great Jamaican food through the culture. I visited here late night after 1 o'clock one day, surprised that they were open and even more surprised at the food was fresh and ready to go great place can't wait to be back. read more

I have ordered from this place quite a few times and each time the quality has been exactly the same... Delicious! The stew chicken is tender and flavorful and very abundant. The mac and cheese is tasty and the rice and peas are actually pretty good. Somewhat lightly seasoned compared to what I'm used to my parents really well with the food. The potato salad is very well done to the point that my mother actually liked it and she's a hard critic. The festival were warm and soft and very satisfying and the carrot cake was definitely worth a second try. I ordered a small oxtail and what they served me seem like it was a large. Great portions, I was able to eat out of it multiple times and enjoyed each time. I ordered through Uber so I haven't been able to go to the restaurant. I see way too many complaints on here and it makes me wonder what type of palate people have as they are putting down the restaurant. Until I get an issue with any of my food, I will continue to support this restaurant and order when my Jamaican food crave pops up. read more

I did not feel like driving so I ended up doing take out from this place by way of recommendation. I decided to order in because I was really feeling for some good Caribbean food... I ended up ordering the stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage with extra gravy...I was in my big back mode! lol Everything I wanted it to be! The chicken was tasty, very well seasoned along with the rice, I could taste the coconut milk...Meat fell right off of the bone and I enjoyed every bite! I also ordered Jerk chicken...Breast and Dark meat...The taste of the jerk was good good, but I feel like they need to let the chicken marinate a little bit more..I don't particularly care for that fresh taste (those of you who are real foodies know what I'm talking about). Other than that, everything was perfect! I prefer white meat, but in this case, I had to take the leg... 10/10! Would definitely recommend! I will go back and try other things. I want to go to the actual restaurant, it is located where I used to live and I hear it's open late. read more

Great mac and cheese. But jerk chicken meal was 1 1/2 piece of meat that was mostly bone. I ordered online about 30 minutes before. When I got there is when they started making by meal . And while my meal was on the counter waiting she was still packing other while I already pre-ordered for this exact reason. The meat was bland and mostly bones. I asked someone for a good jerk spot In queens and he recommended this place . I'm from the islands so I'm extremely hard to please in terms of authentic Flavor and this place did pretty well with presentation and flavor ..The jerk could have been a little hotter but I understand they have to make a milder taste to appease the majority ... They give a good amount of food . There is an up charge for gravy , Macaroni pie , and potato salad which I didn't understand lol but over all the food was good , the service was quick and is good for late night eats as well . read more

The worst Jamaican food in New York City. The food is bad , the service is bad I am not sure how this place manages to still be in business

wait time isn't too bad, Uber eats is pretty fast though. The oxtails are a bit overpriced for what you get. Although I recently got a decent plate the same day I reviewed them lol There's NEVERRRR beef patties in the evenings.... wish they would make a second batch. So this place was truly such a disappointment. I ordered food last night for delivery while being at work. I ordered the oxtail with rice and peas dish and I'm so glad I ordered a small because when I opened the container of the food, the oxtail was fat with small pieces of meat. They went ahead and got rid of all of their nasty fatty pieces Since it was gonna be delivered. It shows such little integrity of this restaurant they were gonna close and so they got rid of their nasty fatty oxtail and cared more about the money mind you this dish is $26 for a small on its own. Yardie should be ashamed of themselves or whoever was packing the food last night and thought it was funny to give somebody a meal that they probably wouldn't even eat when I tell you guys I had to cut around the meat. I ended up basically just eating rice and peas with salad and plantains because this meat was just unbearably bad I would never ever give them a chance With food again if you guys want really good oxtail just go get it from the door read more

So I had their Oxtail and Beans Meal w/ Mac & cheese & burnt plantains. It looks good right? But no I've had better oxtails than this. The oxtails were not tender & juicy fallin off the bone. It was hard & flavorless & I kno y'all can tell by the Mac it was dry. Idk why ppl are still raving about yardies. They fell off. Idk how the restaurant & customer service is Bc this order was placed on DoorDash. I remember yearssssss ago they had the best jerk in queens. Now I won't even look twice. read more

So October 6th I had a huge craving for jerk chicken with rice and peas . Living in long island is super hard to find that with flavor. I decided to travel to queens and ordered Jerk Chicken Meal w/ Mac & cheese & burnt dried up plantains. FIRST OFF you really gonna serve this food to people. It looks good right? Looks are deceiving !!! and Next time ill go to Brooklyn at least I know I will get quality and quantity than someone just giving you something to make them money . The jerk were not juicy at all. It was dry& flavorless like they didn't season it fully or like it marinate for a while. I was Born in JAMAICA AND DIS ISNT IT !!! I don't understand why there're raving about Yardies like seh They didnt fell off!!!.   Now I rather starve than to waste my money RUN!!! before you get bad belly !!! read more

Yardies Jerk - Don't even bother - Caribbean Near Me - St. Albans, New York

I would not order from here again - some of the worst Caribbean food I've ever had. I took a chance seeing as how Yardie's ratings on DoorDash were a 4.6, huge learning lesson to compare the reviews before ordering next time. I ordered a large Jerk Chicken meal and the portions were embarrassingly disproportionate. Some of the other review pictures had ordered small jerk chicken meals and had more chicken than the large meal I got. Half of the chicken was just bones - they literally gave me pieces of chicken that were bits of meat stuck on bones like someone had already ate into. I got a drumstick that had meat cut off of it - like why?? The cabbage side was the most ridiculous, 3/4 of the meal was cabbage and carrots. They really sold me a $17 meal with $2 in carrots/cabbage and $4 in chicken bones. Portions aside, the seasoning was lacking. The sauce tasted like barbecue, not jerk, and the cabbage had a strong vinegar taste. read more

This place is a hit or miss. I came in the middle of the night and got some jerk chicken, chicken soup and festival. I did not like the jerk chicken, something was off with the flavoring. I've been coming to this particular yardies (there's another in elmont) for over 2 years now and every time I would get the small jerk pork meal with rice & peas and either Mac nd cheese or potato salad . The oxtails were tender, well seasoned, etc and I got extra gravy. I always get a small meal whenever I come here cause their portions are so big but I'm not complaining. You get your money's worth. My husband and I frequent Yardies for one thing, their festival. Yes their festival only! I'm pretty sure they are the only Jamaican spot in the area pumping out fresh festival at 11pm at night. With both of our weaknesses for fried sweet dough, their hours always work to our benefit. Their menu offerings, at one point, were very simple; Jerk chicken and/or jerk pork with rice and peas and steamed cabbage, jerk chicken soup and ofcourse, festival. I used to enjoy their soup and jerk chicken but the chicken was inconsistent. One day it was moist and flavorful, next day super dry, day after seasoned perfectly but cold; It was ridiculous. My husband even got sick after eating their jerk chicken on one of our late night/early morning visits; Ever since then I swore I wouldn't order food from them anymore. We ended up here last night bc we both were craving fried dough. We ordered 6 festival to go as they are only 3 for $2. As the cashier bagged them up for us I noticed they had more options on their menu; Oxtail and butter beans and even jerk salmon which sounded delicious. I proceeded to ask her how long the jerk salmon would take to make and she informed me it was already ready. I should have taken that as a bad sign bc seafood dishes at West Indian restaurants are almost always made to order. I ignored the thought though and was happy to hear the salmon came with steamed green beans and carrots, which were plentiful. Hubby noticed they had a rice and peas, steamed veg and plantain plate for $3 so he ended up ordering that for himself. Once we got home we dug in. The festival was soft and still warm which was perfection but that's all l can really give praises for. The plate with rice and beans, veg and plantain was alright. They put gravy on the rice which made it more flavorful but the steamed cabbage was definitely raw and bland and the plantain were tiny as hell and rock hard. My jerk salmon was cold and dry, like it had been sitting there all day but the steamed green beans and carrots that came with my plate were good. I knew I should have just stuck to what I know they do well here and that is festival. Those delicious cornmeal fried dumplings are worth the trek here, just don't get anything else on the menu. read more

I came here for the first time. I ordered jerk chicken and festival. It's very rare you find a restaurant that has festival so I had to try it. I asked for jerk sauce on my chicken because I knew it would be dry. I received my food and noticed there was no sauce on my chicken. I asked the girl for sauce and she told me to check the bag, which I did prior to asking her. Then she asked the guy who packed my food if he put sauce in the bag. Like why??? All she had to do was give me the sauce!!! The festival is great!! Tastes like authentic festival from Jamaica!!! The chicken not so great. It was extremely dry. It's like I was just eating bland chicken with jerk seasoning. I plan to revisit to taste the food again. MAybe it wasn't fresh chicken... read more

Had a taste for some Jamaican food, however did not want to go out and get it. DoorDash it was. This was my first time eating here. I ordered the jerk chicken meal and chicken soup. They serve more rice than anything else. Portion size of chicken is very small, not enough to even eat with the amount rice they give. There were no steamed vegetables, just three plantains toast tasted like they had been sitting for some time. One plus though, they put gravy on the rice! The chicken soup was the highlight for me. Very tasty and filling. This place is good for a quick fix, but definitely will not be my go to. read more
