Jerk chicken and stewed chicken
Kevin R.

Consistency.... You are going to get the same great food each and every time. This is hard to find now a days. They are open super early and are very accommodating. I come here and sit down multiple times a week and always feel very welcomed and never rushed. From the doubles , to goat, to oxtail , stewed chicken , curry anything I highly recommend!

Doubles in the making!

What a great find!!! I had a mad craving for Doubles but didn't want to drive 40 minutes to get to Trinciti or Singh's Roti (my usual go-to for Doubles). After a quick Yelp search, I found D Roti Hut, and off I went! On this visit, I got a few Doubles "with everything" to go. While waiting for them to make my Doubles, I saw that they had an enormous array of cooked food in their steam tables. Their curry goat was calling my name, and I got an order to go. Doubles: I got their Vegetarian Double ($1.50 each), which comes with curried chick peas. You can customize it with whatever condiments you want. I always ask them to make it "with everything" and spicy. For me, this is the only way to have them! (Note: you can also get other fillings instead of chick peas, like curry goat, curry beef, curry chicken, etc). Honestly, the Doubles at Trinciti and Singh's Roti are slightly better, but D Roti Hut's version was pretty good also! I would definitely return since they're closer to home than the other places. These Doubles hit the spot and satisfied my craving! Curried Goat w.Rice & side of choice (potatoes or chick peas). This platter was only $14, and packed with goat! The goat was very flavorful and fall-off- the-bone good! Recommended! Looking forward to a return visit to try their other entrees....and of course, more Doubles!

So this was my first time ordering from this place. It has great reviews so I was hoping it lived up to its hype. & it's just ok... lol. So idk if it's prolly bc I ordered thru DoorDash & didn't visit In person bc my order also took a while to come bc all I ordered were 3 doubles : chicken, shrimp & curry goat. All mid lol. Tasted no flavor shadow Benny or pepper just tamarind & bare chickpeas. So I don't think they're that great but that's just my opinion of your a doubles lover maybe you'll have a diff opinion

Great place. When you walk in you are filled with delicious aromas. The food all looks delicious. I had a salt fish sandwich and coffee. Hit the spot. The fish was sautéed with a mix of crunchy veggies and a sauce that had a small kick (I said only a little spice). The sandwich in a fresh flatbread and the total meal a savory and satisfying fix. Highly recommend. Also the ladies here were so sweet to me. A great neighborhood place and worth a drive. And they have my favorite, goat curry! Yum.

The first thing that stands out is the bright yellow walls. This is a roti spot for sure but they have so much more. I wanted a chicken patty but they didn't have anymore so I settled for fish, luckily I've had good food here prior because the fish patties is a 5 out of 10. Service was good everyone said hello and was helpful.

The double was freshly made, the chick peas had a depth of flavor between the corriander, tamarind and the sweet chutney. There was a bit of a wait as the oerson before me bought a large order of doubles and roti. I had 2 doubles, witha a passion fruit juice and i cannot wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. I think next time, i will caml ahead and pick up, specially for large orders. IMO, they can add more spice to the double, as i enjoy spicy food.

Awesome dhal Puri roti!

We ate here twice on our trip to NY. It's a worthy detour to and from LA Guardia. The first trip I got the Dhal Puri Roti which is so tough to find in Detroit. It was the biggest most beautiful shell I've ever seen! I got the curry chicken also. The surprise favorite however was a pie filled with minced chicken and I dipped in the curry chicken gravy. So much flavor! My husband got the rice and peas with curry shrimp and curry beef. We left stuffed at a very low price! This food costs more in Detroit for less flavor and variety. Today we got aloo pies with added chicken and shrimp and added all the sauces. Again, amazing flavor and perfect heat. We sought out Ali's in the Bronx as well during our trip. It's the second ranked roti shop. It wasn't nearly as good as D Roti Shop!

While visiting a friend in New York, I was asked what I missed most about the area, and it was doubles. There was a short line as soon as we walked in and when we got to the front the line had doubled in size. I wish the food were labeled to make ordering easier for someone unfamiliar with the food. I feel like I am part of the reason for the line as I had a few questions. That aside, the food hit the spot; I ordered some extra food on top of what I would eat for lunch, and the food was still excellent. It was so great that we went back for more the following day. The place may look like a hole in the wall, but when there is a continuous line, you know they are doing something right.

Spices are so delicious! The food from here truly brings comfort. It is not overly salty but it is extremely flavorful. Customer service is excellent as well. When I placed a delivery order they called when an item was unavailable and asked what I would like instead. Very nice instead of just sending me whatever/nothing. I look forward to eating from here again :).

Hot food, very well done. About the price you'd expect for eating out. My family comes by regularly.

Amazing Taste Caribbean & American Restaurant

I stumbled upon Amazing Taste Caribbean almost by accident, and I'm so glad I did. Now, the name…read moremight throw you off at first--yes, Haiti is part of the Caribbean, but when I think "Caribbean," Haiti isn't the first thing that comes to mind. Still, as soon as I got close, I smelled that smell--the familiar aroma that only a true Haitian restaurant has. Not all spots capture it, but when they do, it's like an instant invitation. I was on my way to the nail salon nearby when I first caught the scent. After getting my nails done, I went home, grabbed my daughter (she loves Haitian food as much as I do), and said, "I think I found a new spot--we've got to try it." As soon as we walked in, she said, "Mommy, it has that smell," and I knew we were in for a treat. We ordered the chicken with rice and beans, served with sauce and fried plantains (banan, in Creole). Everything was flavorful and delicious--no complaints at all. The service was also very good. The lady who helped us didn't speak English, but that wasn't an issue--you just point to the size and dish you want, and it's all understood. There are a few different portion sizes available, and other staff members who do speak English, but at that moment, they were in the back. All in all, Amazing Taste Caribbean feels like a hidden gem, and I'm so happy to finally have a Haitian restaurant this close to home. I'm looking forward to going back and trying more dishes in the future.

We ordered mac and cheese with chicken tenders for our baby, only to discover -- after cutting it into small pieces -- that the chicken was completely raw. Not undercooked -- RAW. Pink, cold, and completely inedible. Serving raw chicken is dangerous for anyone, but serving it to a toddler? That is beyond negligent. When we alerted the waitress, she casually said she'd "switch it out" and came back with French fries -- something we didn't ask for and didn't want. No explanation, no apology, just a complete disregard for the seriousness of the situation. To make matters worse, when we asked for the bill, they had the nerve to still charge us for the chicken tenders. Are you kidding me? Why should I have to ask for a RAW item to be removed from my bill? That should be automatic -- assuming the staff and management care even the slightest bit about customer safety and basic decency. This place clearly lacks not only professionalism, but basic food safety standards. I wouldn't feed my dog from this kitchen, let alone return as a customer. DO BETTER. Wish I can give a NO STAR. Yall are fucking ridiculous.

I tend to try these places on 2 good 2 go before I place proper orders, to see what's happening and if I'll like it before jumping in. When I say this was a mess, that is an understatement. The staff is fantastic, very friendly. The food was packed up while I was there, and I was sent on my way without issue. I originally got the notification for this place by going to my mom's funeral. I figured it would cheer me up, but I should have taken it as a sign to avoid instead. I got two plates, both were exactly the same. No variety at all, very disappointing. The worst part was nothing had any taste, any flavor, whatsoever except the oxtail? Chicken? Hard to say, when it only got flavor from the sauce it was in, the meat offering nothing. The fried chicken was bland and tasteless, the black rice (which was the entire bottom of the container) was hard and flavorless, even the mac and cheese just tasted like boiled pasta, no cheese flavor whatsoever. This place is allergic to seasoning. No salt, no pepper, no garlic powder, NO NOTHING. It's all incredibly bland, and borderline inedible. It reminds me of that episode of Fairly Oddparents where Timmy takes the color out of the world and everything is gray and tasteless. How do you make Carribean food tasteless and bland? Apparently, this place is a master course on finding out how. I couldn't even eat the second, I decided I didn't want to torture myself. Do better.
