    Oxtail meal
    Lauren B.

Today was my first time getting jerk chicken from here. I usually get the oxtail. However the jerk chicken was good as well. Definitely has a kick to it. The small meal comes with a good amount of chicken as I didn't finish all of it. Would definitely get the jerk chicken from here again.

If you are looking for an amazing West Indian place to eat. This place is it. I only ordered 2 things from the menu, and that's only because I can't get past ordering the Oxtails, Rice, and Peas with Cabbage and Ackee and Salt Fish with Food(that's Dumplings, White Yams, And Potatoes) When I tell you it's like a party in your mouth. I ordered food for delivery. This place was recommended to me and I am glad I listened. It's a must-try. RUN DON'T WALK TO ORDER.

The cornmeal porridge is the best I've had. The brown stewed snapper was huge, fresh and had so much flavor. Bread fruit was good, the fish soup might look a little suspect but it had good flavor, this soup was more fresh which is good if you're watching your pressure. But, their red pea soup was more like bean soup. Didn't like that at all! Ackee and Saltfish was so good, not too oily and perfectly seasoned. They give you a good amount of food for what you pay for. Definitely frequent here a lot.

So it's official! After years of trying this place they have greatly improved throughout the years. The portions are better, the oxtail doesn't have as much fat as it used to back then and everything I've had thus far has tasted great. I can wholeheartedly say this is my fave Jamaican restaurant over all others I've tried even in Brooklyn. Came here 2 weeks ago in person which is something I rarely do and the customer service was actually good which is shocking if you know about Jamaican restaurants lol. My top 2 favorite dishes from here are Oxtail and Curry Goat. I always get those with rice and peas and cabbage. Has yet to fail me. Once I ordered through Uber and they driver gave me the wrong order, so I kept it anyway and it was curry shrimp with white rice. It was good too! I've also had their breakfast of ackee and saltfish with provisions and was very satisfied. I've had a few other items but too many to mention. Haven't yet been let down. I hope they keep it up!

YES LAWD!!! I have ordered from here a few times and for some odd reason, each time the food gets more and more delicious. Lmao. Last night I ordered a SMALL curry chicken with rice and pease and steamed veggies. Small was not what them portions were CHILEEEE I ate good and I have leftovers- won't he do it. For my side, I had to order the Mac n cheese since I was staying home for the night (my lactose intolerant warriors know what I'm talking about lol) and that Mac was BUSSIN!!! I have leftovers from that side too! Portion control smortion control lol. This is definitely my go to Caribbean food restaurant in the area. I love ya'll!

Best Jamaican take out restaurant in Queens. This has been my go to spot for Jamaican food for years. I always order the same things- goat curry or oxtail with rice and peas, both are delicious and cooked perfectly. The goat has just the right amount of spice and the oxtails is rich and flavorful. Large order is shareable, during the day they offer a lunch special for $8 which is the perfect size for 1. Fast service, the head chef is always present and visibly active in the customer service. I took away 1 star because the goat has A LOT of bones, I prefer the meatier pieces and they don't have good pepper sauce.

Beef patty with jerk chicken rice and plantain

Not amazing but not bad. I got the Jerk chicken rice bean platter with vegetables and a jamaican beef patty. Also tried Jamaican soda for the first time. The jerk chicken was great and tender but the rice tasted kinda weird. The spice they used was too strong. It made me uncomfortable , I didn't request it to be spicy or add hot sauce. The beef patty was solid but the soda tasted like medicine and bitter. Overall I didn't dislike the experience but wouldn't come back. 3/5 for me.

I have passed by this restaurant numerous times, it isn't that big at all.but the quality of food is really good. I ordered there oxtails with rice and peas along with a salad, plantains, and a small banana porridge. They give you a really nice size portions. This particular restaurant isn't stingy with there food at all ,plus the food is cooked. Not half cooked like some of the other Caribbean restaurants. The food taste like it really made back in the Caribbean,on the iland of Jamaica. My wait for my food wasn't long at all .their service was really fast.they have seats and tables inside, but do to the coronavirus, it is only take out. They also take cash or credit either one ,and they also have an atm inside . The staff was nice and the restaurant was clean, I would definitely go back there in the future.

Expensive but delicious ox tail is the tl:dr version of this place. Came here to once again try one of the many carribean establishments by where I live, on the journey to find the most delicious jerk chicken and ox tail at a reasonable price for a go to place. Tried this place and while the jerk chicken was fairly average, it was the ox tail here that was stand out. Too bad this place is ridiculously overpriced though compared to the other options you'd get around the area otherwise this would be a go to for ox tail at least.....

The food there is not bad, but they should stop the practice of passing fried fish topped with brown stew sauce for "esco" fish disch.

There were two young ladies standing behind the bar but no one greeted us. We stood by the door for maybe 5 mins before we were acknowledged and asked if we wanted to sit a table or the bar. It took another 10 mins or so before WE had to ask for a menu. After that, the young lady that served us was good and personable. The ambiance in here is pretty chill. They had a DJ that played a good mix of music. They also have a bunch of games like jenga, giant uno, connect four etc. They have happy hour M-F 4-7pm. $5 shots, $8 rum punch and margaritas (+ $1 per flavor), and $10 L.I.T, $10 wings & fries and $12 shrimp & fries (+ $2 per flavor). Drinks: We did the margaritas which are $8 +$1 for flavors. We had the passion fruit, mango, and raspberry flavors. Passion fruit was my fave, mango was a tad bit sweet but when I asked the server to add a shot to fix it, she did. Food: we had the lemon pepper and buffalo wings and fries. The wings were good but the lemon pepper flavor was light and just sprinkled on. The crab legs were really good! It's cooked in a curry sauce, I just wished they actually served it in the sauce. I had to ask for melted butter. We weren't really hungry but from the few things I had, it seems their food is good. I would go back to try some more menu items.

**A MUST VISIT RESTAURANT IN LITTLE GUYANA** **DELICIOUS…read moreFOOD & BAKERY ITEMS** A SPECIAL PART OF QUEENS Spanning about thirty blocks around Liberty Ave in Richmond Hill, is a very interesting neighborhood known as Little Guyana. An area where one of the largest populations of Guyanese immigrants reside in New York, along with others hailing from Trinidad, Jamaica, India, and Asia. As such, it's a bustling Indo-Caribbean mixing pot neighborhood, with - in some areas - a times square vibe. And most importantly, home to multiple restaurants, Carribean bakeries, clothing shops, grocery stores, and even Guyanese style Chinese food restaurants (Yes, that really is a thing!) EXPERIENCE LITTLE GUYANA AT SYBIL'S A fantastic way to start off your exploration of Little Guyana is to visit Sybil's Bakery. Here, Sybil, an expat from Guyana, along with her relatives and children, have been serving Guyanese specialties to the Richmond Hill community for almost 50 years. Offering steam tables filled with fantastic food, Bakery items, and authentic drinks. THIS IS HOW YOU DO IT Ask someone from Guyana, and they'll tell you that Sybil's is a top spot to visit in the neighborhood. Because of this, the restaurant can sometimes become very crowded, with a line spilling out the door, and down the sidewalk. So it's best not to visit during peak times if possible. And as it's a small restaurant with no tables, you must enter, grab a ticket from the dispenser, and then wait for your number to be called. And while waiting, it's a great time to check the various offerings in the steam table area, take a peak at all the bakery items and patties, and peruse the large menu above the counter. And to be honest, because of the large number of choices here, you really need to do this, so you'll have somewhat of an idea what to order when you're called. YOU HAVE TO TRY... Just about everything is delicious here, so all the standard Caribbean dishes, such as Jerk Chicken, Stewed Chicken, Fried Chicken, Oxtail, Curries and sides are all great choices. And then another wonderful item to try here, is Guyanese Pepper Pot, a traditional meat stew with a dark spiced gravy. And don't forget to order a tasty Roti to eat along with any saucy dishes you order. In addition, the fantastic Guyana Style Chinese items, such as the Chow Mein (fried noodles) and Fried Rice - which are my favorite- are seasoned exceptionally well with Caribbean spices, making these dishes hit differently, in comparison to other restaurants. Of course there are regular Jamaican style Beef Patties and Chicken Patties being served here, which are very tasty. But the Guyana style Patties, which are round, and packed full with either beef or chicken, & veg are scrumptious and unique. With these, the crust is more similar to that of a chicken pot pie, and the generous filling is fantastic. Meanwhile, because these are so friggin good, you will see people order them here by the dozen, to take home. So don't pass these up. Another popular choice, especially during lunch, are Sybil's famous Fish Sandwiches and Jerk Chicken Sandwiches. These start out with either fried fish or jerk chicken, along with lettuce, tomato, tartar sauce, another slightly sweet special sauce, and then some hot sauce, on a wonderful, mildly sweet and soft Coco Bread. Sybil's makes these sandwiches here, non-stop all day long, and there's a deliciously good reason why! BUT SYBIL'S IS A BAKERY ALSO! A trip to Sybil's for most people usually entails purchasing food, and then also Guyanese style baked goods. Some items of note, are the fresh Tennis Rolls, a dense, slightly sweet roll famous for being eaten with a nice slab of cheese in between, creating the best cheese sandwich ever. And if you enjoy cheese, the Cheese Roll pastry, the Cheese Pie tart and the Cheese Scone are also wonderful. And some examples of the sweeter style baked goods here, are the famous Guyana Pineapple Tarts and Guava Tarts which are a must try. Along with the Carrot Cake, Cassava Cake, Cherry buns, Coconut Drops, Chinese Cakes, Currant Rolls, and Solara, just to name a few. I LOVE THIS PLACE All in all, Sybil's is not a perfect restaurant. There are no tables to eat-in, it's usually crowded, and the ordering process can feel a bit rushed and intimidating your first time here. Moreover, if your looking for the best Trinidad style Doubles and Roti, then - without a doubt - Trinciti, Trini Delight and Singh's Roti Shop are better destinations. (Look for my previous review of Singh's Roti Shop if you have a chance). But let me tell you, if I am anywhere near Little Guyana, and I'm hungry, It's a good chance that I'm stopping at Sybil's for some of my favorite food and some magical baked items to take home. Because I really love this place, and if you get to know this unique restaurant like I do, I bet you may fall in love also.
