Jerk Chicken Lunch Special

I used DoorDash and spent 30$ on this with a soup. They gave me burnt chicken and flavorless soup with no meat a bone and a piece of yam. I wouldn't go back there. They don't know how to serve customers

Second time around ordering from Merrick Jerk! Both times I purchased food them because they were the only ones open pass 9:30pm still serving jerk chicken fresh off of the grill. This time I ordered via Door Dash, which btw was my first time doing so (I know, I'm late). Not a bad experience at all, especially considering that it was late and I was hesitant about ordering so late for fear that my plate would be served the "last hour" scraps... I ordered the large jerk chicken dinner, which my 11yr old and I shared. It was delicious. I requested that they put oxtail gravy on my rice & peas in the "special instructions" section, and they did just that! That is a big win for me because I do not care for rice without gravy. The food also arrived hot (thank you door dash ). We were not disappointed at all.

I've been eyeing you Little Jerk Center...... This little spot is right next to the salon where I get my eyebrows done. I was hungry but in a hurry so I figured this was the best time to try it out. I walked in looking for a menu and I discovered that there is no menu. Nothing on the wall, no signs, no paper menu. Just food buffet style behind the window and a chalk board outside listing items. This discouraged me but like I said, I was in a rush and hungry so I rode with it. I found out how they operate through the conversation between the server and I. I asked for fried chicken because it was on the chalk board outside. She said there is no fried chicken so I just looked at what was available. I was unsure of all of the food items available and I just didn't feel like going through the "what is this?" question game. I thought I saw stew chicken so I just went for it hoping I was right. She gave me a head nod so I was right! She asked me if I wanted white rice or rice and peas and then she went back to the hard questions.....What size? So I said small, medium, or large? She said yea $5, $8, or $10. Thank you for a breakdown! I got the $8 plate, waited just a few minutes and soon she called me over to pay and get my food. The $8 plate was a very good size. Enough for me to share some with my mother. The stew chicken and rice came with cabbage and plantain. My mother and I really enjoyed the food....everything except for the plantain. They only get three stars from me for offering fried chicken, but not having it available, and not having a menu. Who doesn't have a menu?! Anywho, the food was very good and personally I would go back.

It sucks that I have to give a bad rating but they need to do better. The customer service was disgusting. The food was nasty, old and stink

A Reliable Haven Near JFK (Especially for Late Arrivals!) I…read morehad been on a work assignment in the area for a while and have visited The Door several times. Each experience has been even better than the last, and it has quickly become a reliable local go-to. My most recent visit really saved the day. I had family fly into JFK, and by the time they got through the airport, it was after 8:00 PM. They were starving, and The Door was one of the few quality places nearby where we could actually sit down for a proper meal at that hour. As usual, it did not disappoint: The Food: Even late in the evening, the food was excellent and--most importantly--fresh. The Service: The staff was friendly and incredibly fast, which my hungry family definitely appreciated. The Vibe: There were some gentlemen at the bar having a very good time (read: they were a bit noisy!), but it didn't take away from the meal. The overall experience was still top-notch. I was once again so glad I chose to eat here. If you need a welcoming spot with great food near the airport, this is it!

I am writing to express my disappointment with a takeout order I purchased from your restaurant…read moretoday. I ordered the ackee and saltfish for pickup, but by the time I arrived home, oil had spilled all over the bag. The dish itself contained an excessive amount of oil, and the packaging was not sufficient for a takeout order of this nature. I highly recommend utilizing better, leak-proof packaging for these specific types of dishes in the future to prevent this from happening to other customers. I was quite disappointed, which is unusual because I have never had a bad dine-in experience during my previous visits. Overall, your food is great, but this recent occasion did not live up to that standard.

Why did I wait so long to come here?!…read more I mean, I know why. It's a bit of a trek from where I live. But I'll happily travel for good food, and Trinciti absolutely justified the journey. As an Indian, I don't say this lightly. I know my Indian food. I was already aware of the historical overlap between Indian and Caribbean cuisines, but Trinidadian food fascinated me. The familiar spices and flavors are there, yet they've evolved into something entirely their own. You can taste the migration story, the adaptation, and the creativity in every bite. A quick practical note because Instagram reels had me misinformed. They do take cards. You don't need cash. Also, parking isn't exactly abundant, and there aren't many nearby places to sit with your takeaway. My advice is to grab a table and eat there. The space itself is small and pretty no-frills, so if you're coming for ambiance, this isn't that kind of place. But if you're coming for flavor, you're in exactly the right place. The setup is simple. You line up, order when it's your turn, and move things along. It's a busy spot, so a little menu reconnaissance goes a long way. The staff are efficient and patient, but they're not mind readers. Asking them whether shrimp or chicken is "better" feels like asking someone whether you should prefer chocolate or vanilla. Both are good. It depends on what you like. We ordered the dhalpuri roti, which is a soft flatbread stuffed with seasoned ground lentils. If you're sharing, ask for it not to be wrapped. Otherwise, it comes rolled up like a wrap. We filled ours with both the curried goat and the oxtail because we weren't there to play it safe. Both were excellent, paired with those comforting, home-style potatoes that soak up all the flavor without overwhelming you with spice. I also couldn't leave without trying the doubles, and we kept it plain. Oh. My. God. Flavor bomb. At its heart, it reminded me of chole bhature's distant cousin. The same comforting chickpea soul, but interpreted through Trinidad's lens with pepper sauces and chutneys that make it unmistakably its own. I honestly think the chutneys are what take it over the top. For the bake and shark though Pay first, take your number, and when they call you up, tell them how you'd like it dressed. Personally, I have a "trust the chef and give me everything" philosophy, so I said yes to it all. The result was a glorious mess of crispy fried shark piled high with pineapple, lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, and an array of vibrant chutneys that I am still thinking about. They do not skimp on the fish. Watching them assemble it from the front row is part of the fun. Before you leave, do not skip the cassava cake. The raisin dessert was a bit too sweet for my taste, but that's entirely personal and worth trying if you have a sweeter tooth than I do. They also sell plenty of snacks and hot sauces, so take a look around before heading out. One final thing I appreciated. They have a restroom and a sink stocked with soap. Trust me, you are going to get messy. That's part of the joy of eating here. If you're the kind of person who side-eyes people for eating with their hands, this might not be your scene. If you're willing to embrace the delicious chaos, Trinciti will reward you generously. I left full, happy, and wondering why I had let distance keep me away for so long. Some places are worth the drive. Trinciti is absolutely one of them.

My Trini friend was shocked that I;ve never had doubles and so this day was my lucky day. When you reach, the servers take your order along with as many toppings and additions. They also had bake and shark, bake and saltfish, and other items to choose from such as dhal puri roti, pholourie with tamarind sauce, it was my first time so I didn't go too crazy and wanted to appreciate the essence of the doubles. I would go back again. It is takeout, so don't get too comfy. Make sure you're ready to grab your order and take that first bite after you leave or reach your destination!

If you come on a Saturday evening, be prepared to wait at least an hour--the place gets packed. If…read moreyou do go, the best things to order are the Guyanese patties (chicken or beef), a refreshing coconut water, and the currant rolls, which tend to be the highlights. Personally, though, I'm not much of a fan of the rest of the food. Those few items stand out, but overall the menu didn't quite win me over. Now you officially have the Supreme Touch

I ordered a curry beef and I took one bite and the inside of my lip was still on fire 10 minutes…read morelater. When I complain, they say there's no way it can be spicy as everything is supposed to be mild. They don't take into consideration that the cook's spice tolerance might be higher due to them consuming a lot of spicy food so they can't tell when they've put too much spice. I could even see the high amount of pepper seeds in the curry compared to the previous times I've gotten it. The chicken curry is also often too spicy. Sometimes you get lucky and the chef working that day doesn't overload it with spice but it's rare. I see unsanitary behavior more and more often. People touching notepads and pens then using the same gloves to touch the fried chicken pieces and plantains. The notepad is on the same place they wrap the rotis. Then the lady taking cash goes to wrap a roti and uses her bare left hand to do it. Same hand touching money all day. The A rating doesn't mean much since restaurants get wind of when the inspector hits other restaurants and just tries to be on their best behavior then go back to being nasty after. Also, they use a shady tactic in which they make you wait longer so the line grows long and the store appears more crowded, making passerby think the store must be good for it to be crowded with so many people. They don't even try to hide it. When you order for delivery, the workers pack the food immediately so it sits there getting cold for 30 minutes until a driver picks it up. ZERO common sense. Today is the last straw that made me never order Sybil's again. I go in near closing and a worker is cleaning the steamtable bins with soap and water. You know how you place the steel containers of food on hot water. So they were cleaning the hot water basins with soap and water right at the table. The worker then uses a dry dirty cloth to wipe the soap clean, obviously there's going to be some dried soap residue still left since it was never fully rinsed with water. I've seen workers in the afternoon taking the stainless containers of food off the table, the dirty soapy water now on the bottom of the container dripping onto the other food as they lift it out. Wow. And you're ingesting parts of that everytime you eat.

It's a fairly large restaurant. We ordered cocktails, few tapas and the steak. I would've ordered another entree but they were out of dish after dish that I would've tried.. well it turned out to be enough food since the omelette dish was so dense and I filled up on bread. The best dish was the shrimp with garlic tapa which I usually wouldn't bother ordering but I've already tried most of the menu. Lots of garlic. Really tasty ..dipped the oil with the bread. We were sitting there for a while, waiting for our drinks and other food but nothing came out so I wanted more bread since I was starving. My first meal that day. One the guys brought more bread for us quickly. The steak and omelette finally came. I would never order the omelette dish but L wanted to try it and it was tapas Tuesday so there was a slight discount. Very bland. Not enough egg, too much potato, very dry so we spooned a lil of the garlic oil from the shrimp dish and it helped a lot. I had a lil but L ate the rest. Salad was good but it was overdressed. The steak was a lil bit bloody in the middle even though we ordered it medium so it wasn't as good as we had it before. We still didn't get our cocktails because the bartender lady kept making margaritas which were only $5 that day instead of our $17 drinks. Someone came past 7:30pm and our waitress said he was gonna make our drinks. The drinks were pretty good but we already finished our food. Usually I would have ordered one of each cocktail at Sala but I was full and had other places to go. The slow service and the unavailability of certain dishes has impacted my recommendation to others but I still like the drinks here and we did enjoy the gambas tapa dish a lot..
