I think they just starting up, maybe. the building looks like it used to be something else. They have much to improve on -decor, paint, color theme- if they are infact just starting I can't bash them for that as the funds for such things may be tight due to many factors. My Concern is with the menu. More specifically the portions and how they don't match the menu. When I got the RICKY ROLL it look nothing like the picture on the menu. like they aren't even trying. Also Boba tea was advertised online but I found it nowhere on the menu given or even on a sign inside. Very disappointing when good Boba is hard to come by. I would still give them 5 stars because the food was still delicious. And the 2 for 1 deal is awesome. But perhaps this establishment is aiming more for a takout/ Togo vibe? read more

Absolutely the worst food I've tried at a Yamato. My teriyaki steak bento had about a 1/2 cup of diced steak over a mound of mushy veggies, which I put in my disgusting bowl of "onion" soup. The two tiny spring rolls were so dry and no filling. The California roll was just rice and cucumber, and the soba noodles were bland and mushy as well. The yum yum sauce was pure mayo. They also tried to charge us for more drinks than we ordered, and our receipt was hand written without prices. We paid $80 for this ridiculous excuse for Japanese food. I guess we should have taken the empty parking lot during dinner rush as a sign. read more

We're regulars here and love to come. The waitress Melissa is Christlike and very kind/relational. We get the rolls, hibachis, and dumplings. Depending on how ho's cooking the rice can be underdone, but I don't notice as much as my wife. The atmosphere is... okay. The lighting is good but they haven't cleaned the hidden areas. Just don't look around too much. Overall great Japanese spot. read more

This dining experience was unforgettable. Immediately we were greeted by two young men that zipping around the restaurant. We were then able to choose our table and look around. The only word to describe the interior of this restaurant is lynchian. The people dining alongside us added to this experience. The food took a long time, but was otherwise great! Thanks! read more

My granddaughter ordered a large shrimp fried rice with extra shrimp, add extra chicken. The total cost was 21.99 (tax included). When we got home, she began to eat and was making faces( she's 13). I asked what was wrong? She said the shrimp tasted funny. I tasted one and they were sour and spoiled. I called the restaurant, told the lady of the problem and stated that we weren't asking for the money back, just wanted to let them know that the shrimp are spoiled. She told me, "nobody else said they were spoiled . I hung up and decided to write this review. I will never order there again. read more

We were visiting family in Columbia. Our sons were wanting sushi. I did a quick Google search, and we decided on Yamato. First look this place is a little rundown. It's an older building. The decor is eclectic. We arrived a little after 1:00. There were only 2 tables with people. Another couple came in right after us. We asked the waiter, what his favorite roll was. He told us several. Then told us the sushi is buy one get one free. ALL sushi. Then the lady that came in after us, told us to order the "Columbia" roll. She told us, she eats here every Saturday. There were 4 of us. We ordered the Lobster Rangoon appetizer. We ordered 6 rolls, (Columbia, Ricky, Happy Salmon, Teriyaki Chicken, Cucumber Wrap, and New Orleans) I told my husband, we would be eating leftover sushi for dinner. The waiter was the chef also. So I was thinking that this would take forever....... Boy was I WRONG!!! The Lobster Rangoon were fried fresh. They have the thick wonton wrappers. There was a sweet thick sauce for dipping. So yummy!!! Then came the sushi........ AMAZING!!! NO LEFTOVERS!!! We ate everything!!! 1 appetizer, 2 sodas, and 6 sushi rolls was $47. WOW!!! Ricky waiter/chef was wonderful! So nice! Relatively new restaurant in Columbia and we have seen lots of cars there as we pass by so we decided to try it. I had the chicken and shrimp and my wife had the scallops and shrimp. They came with onion soup which has very little flavor. Sort of lightly greasy with a hint of salt. It did have a few slivers of mushrooms floating around in it but a big disappointment. The chicken portion of my meal was OK but nothing special, the shrimp portion was inedable. The shrimp were old, or been left out to long, or something. I've eaten a lot of shrimp dishes in my life and I don't believe you could have achieved this flavor with seasoning. My wife's shrimp tasted the same way. Her scallops had a fishy old flavor also. For what we paid and what we got it was one of the biggest disappoints in restaurants I've had. read more

This used to be one of my favorite lunch spots when they first opened. However, since then, they apparently changed owners and even though the staff is extremely nice and helpful, the food leaves a lot to be desired. Also, when you only get an hour for lunch and it takes 30 minutes to get your food, it no longer becomes a feasible spot. Food is actually pretty good on some days. On others, the shrimp and fish tastes old and too salty. read more

Had lunch today with the husband. We both had the filet mignon and shrimp hibachi. The steak was extremely tender and well seasoned. The shrimp were perfect. We had the onion soup which is basically a broth with some mushroom slivers. It was the typical soup that you expect at a hibachi grill. Just a plain but tasty broth. We had an order of gyoza which is a fried dumpling. Those were great as well. We would definitely eat here again. read more

The food was not the best in the world. The waitress was very friendly. It had a very bad smell in the dining area. When I inquired what the smell was I was told it was coming from the restrooms. They have plumbing issues that really need to be fixed. Someone went a couple of times and sprayed air freshner but that did not help. I will not eat there again. read more
