So I went to Yamaguchi's yesterday just for a haircut and color. Thought I was a little bit out of my mind to start spending a ton of money on my hair yet again. I relented and booked my appt. with Brit...JR. stylist. I was very cautious since I didn't really know what I was getting into. She was awesome! She gave me a great haircut and wonderful rich color with discounts galore. I came out of there getting a compliment from so many including Billy the owner. His salon is definitely a reflection of him, zen-like, calm and friendly. The only thing I thought could have used some improvements are some of the old towels they were using with holes in them (sorry Billy just being honest). Otherwise, I definitely recommend Brit and the salon. I may have to take advantage of their spa packages next time. read more

If you're looking for a unique, modern & affordable hair cut, you've come to the wrong place. Not only are the prices ridiculous, the cuts are nothing special. I spent a good amount of time with Billy and showed him endless pictures of what I wanted and liked. The haircut that I received looked nothing like the pictures + was totally NOT my style. I kept having to guide him throughout the process and he said I was being disrespectful. In the end, I walked out with an outdated, matronly cut that had been so teased, I went home to untangled the unsightly mess. This place is unbelievable. They called my mom to set up an appointment with Billy...the owner. She WAS a customer but after Eric's horrific chop job he did on me, she was never going back. So when the lady asked about setting up an appointment, I told her that she will never be coming back because Eric messed up my hair so bad. STILL NO APOLOGY! This place does not care what happens. I am sad to even have to write this. I had been going to Yamaguchi for years.... with the salon's several location moves I had remained loyal. NOT ANY MORE!! I had gone in around the start of the year in the mood for a big change... I brought photos and in the hands of the stylist I had been going to for years I said "This is what I want, so do a version of this that you think with look best on me." I ended up with.... well blah muddy hair. When the time came for a touch up I was ready to start the process back towards my previous style. I could write a long paragraph detailing all of the UNPROFESSIONAL BEHAVIOR of the stylist: eye rolls, openly mocking my choice to other stylists "I don't know what she's thinking", not explaining to me what he was doing to my hair, ignoring me in the chair for well over 15 minutes; BASICALLY BEING RUDER THANT A BRATTY 12 YEAR OLD GlRL but really what matters is the result. MY HAIR LOOKED HORRIBLE!!-- YELLOW HIGHLIGHTER AND MUDDY BROWN CHECKERBOARD/ CHEETAH WHILE BREAKING OFF in the stylists brush. And to this the stylist was dismissive and said it was my fault. Excuse me?!?! I WAS LITERALLY IN TEARS in a salon chair while being ignored and mocked and when Billy, the owner, saw what was happening he did nothing. No wait, he actually complemented the stylist! I left in tears and went right to my friend's salon in Simi Valley... the stylists there were amazed at the wreck that was my hair was and did their best to start to fix it. I AM NEVER GOING BACK.... I'm sorry to even have to write this because I've been mostly happy with the cuts I've gotten, but I won't go back now after twice now waiting 20 min or more for my haircut. As a full time working mom that has one day off a week, I schedule my appts carefully trying to use my time the best way I know how. The first time I was going to walk out after waiting with my 2 year old for over 25 min they told me someone could take me finally. So reluctantly I accepted, but they knew I had to be in Santa Barbara by a certain time and there was no sense of urgency in getting me out of there on time even though they took me in late. So I was late in getting to my next destination. Today I went and after waiting for 20 min I told her I would reschedule because I had to be out of there within an hour and that was clearly not going to happen. How is it at 10am they are already running over 20 min late? Either that or they just schedule appts as they want and just hope people will wait. I have super short hair that takes 30 min max to cut, but if I have to wait just as long to get into a seat I'd rather go somewhere else that respects my time. read more

Charise is wonderful. It was my first time going to Inner Chi Salon and my first experience with Charise. I had her do a cut and highlights and she was amazing. I LOVE my hair!! She gave me choices and explained what she thought might look best without applying any pressure. I took all of her suggestions and am truly happy I did. I have received countless compliments since leaving the salon. If you are contemplating going here, ask for Charise and you will be happy. My good friend told me about Billy years ago and I finally went to see him this week at his Ventura salon. I've read the reviews and I'm not sure if location has anything to do with some of the experiences but I did not encounter anything other than total respect and interest in what Billy was doing. The Feng Shui lesson was interesting and definitely an opportunity for Billy and I to have a little conversation about my lifestyle. My hair is thinning and dry and I was willing to try something new. I got great highlights for the first time ever and when he cut my hair it seemed like he was barely cutting anything but when we were done it was great, I could definitely see the difference and even better was how it looked and handled the next morning. I got what I paid for but I will reserve my future experiences for special occasions since Pandemic Projects in my garage do not require great hair color/cuts! read more

This is my 2nd time coming here. First time I got a massage and it really sucked. I called to get an estimate on eyebrow tint/waxed. The girl I spoke to said they have a special for $35 that includes eyelashes dyed as well. I said great and then wanted to get my hair dyed a very exotic color and said I need to make an appt. for a consolation. She said we have a special for $135 includes hair cut. I stated on the phone are you sure no one has to see me first this is not your norm color. She said no we do this all the time. Had my eyebrow/wax done and then went to go get my hair done. When the girl had me in the seat she explained they don't have that color and would have to go get it so for me to come back next week plus it would be a 2 color process and would be more then $135.00. They could do it for $150 and would not include the haircut. Frustrated I just wanted to pay for my eyebrows and go. They rang me up for $90 and I said I got the special and the receptionist said that was last month. I spoke to the manager who said I had asked for extra waxing which was an additional $20. I said I had no problem paying for that but I'm not paying the rest. They ask me to wait and talk it over. I was so pissed off at being quoted now for 2 mistakes and think she should have just comp'd or leave it at $55 and I would have come back. She came back to me and took $10 off so my bill was now $80 instead of $90. Wow thanks hope it was worth your reputation cause you guys suck and not only do I think you are over priced but the wax you did you missed a whole section. DON'T GO HERE!! read more

I was a client for over three years. Last march Billy Yamaguchi bleached out my hair so bad that it started to break off. I went there to fix it but he put the gaysha blowout in my hair without telling me what it was! I trusted him which was a big mistake. That chemical has ruined my hair! I had long blonde hair one year ago now I have really short an my hair has lost all of the fullness I once had. I have called him to tell him what has happened... He never said he was sorry an asked me to come in for a treatment! Can you believe that! I spent 400$ every 6 to 8 weeks for three years. when he ruined my hair I spent 500$ that time. Please be careful if you do decide to go to his salon. Don't make the same mistakes as I did. I have been having my hair done here for over 15 years, Thur their moves and staff changes I have always come back, I have two stylist I would recommend ANNA, and Jocelyn, they are great with hair and color as well as their people skills, I love listening to all the new eaters that Anna and her husband share with customers! After having had services at the previous location, I was looking forward to using the gift certificate I received at Christmas for a relaxing massage. What a HUGE disappointment. The new location, especially the massage room looks like an after-thought. You could hear the stylists talking and laughing with their clients as they blow-dried their hair. This while trying to relax in a cramped room and get a massage. They might be fantastic with hair, but why bother with a "spa" room if the experience isn't "spa-like" Gudrun the massage therapist was outstanding and did her best to make it a nice experience but unfortunately the noise and atmosphere were just to hard to overcome. I will never go back and will not recommend this place for spa services. Unfortunate since the last location was over the top! read more
