Dr Todd Yamada and I all came together when I was in a periodontal place named hell. I have no bone and my gums are history ao dentures here I come. Todd has done everything possible to save my teeth for 26 tears..opps I meant years. The office staff is "too" cordial (if that exists anymore)..,love it! Anyway, I am on My way to DR Lee (DR Yam's referral) as there is no saving my teeth. Dental implants are no joke. There is no way you can do an implant in a day. Although TV adds say this is so, it is not! Update to the excellence of Dr Yamada. Our regular dentist noticed an ulcer on the bottom of my wife's tongue. She suggested watching it for 2 weeks and, if no resolution, to have Dr Yamada examine it. It did not resolve and we were concerned. The office staff allowed me to send a picture of the area and then rushed an appointment to be seen last Friday. Dr Yamada was reassuring that it was not cancer, but did I biopsy which he hand delivered to the lab on Monday. He called yesterday with the good news that it was not of any real consequence. His jovial personality came shing throug as he humbly brushed of my effervescent gratitude to how fortunate we are to have him as a provider. Again, just as good as it gets. read more

She picked up and complained to me how many calls she needs to take, then told me, look as right now there are calls coming in, I need to take that call. Then I'm putting on hold again. Seriously? I was referred to Dr. Yamada because of a dental procedure by another periodontist that went horribly from start to finish. I partly blame myself for ignoring all the red flags. Thankfully, I have found Dr. Yamada, and he is organized and focused on the patient (me). He made sure that I was comfortable, and I hardly felt anything when he pulled my stiches out. She clearly explained what I should expect when I needed a tooth extracted and gave me options but didn't push me to do anything I didn't want to do. I came in as a referral for an emergency broken tooth, which wound up having to be extracted. Dr. Tanpattana and the staff were above excellent. They made me feel at ease (which is hard to do since I have a terrible fear of dentist and needles!) They were very friendly, professional, and patient. Dr. Tanpattana explained all my options and procedures and listened to my concerns, allowing me to make an educated decision for treatment. Very impressed with Dr. Yamada and his team. They showed compassion and care for my condition and personal concerns, offered all my options in addition to their professional opinion of the best course of action. On the day of my appointment Dr. Yamada and his assistant took every possible path to ensure I would be comfortable - first a topical numb then the injections. He was very patient waiting for it to sink in, making small talk with me and his assistant. During the entire procedure I was never in any pain - just a little pinch when the numbing agent was injected into my gums. I can't imagine anyone being more gentle extracting the tooth. I was repeatedly asked if I was doing okay and it was made quite clear to me that I should speak up if there was a problem. There was never a feeling that the doctor or his assistant were rushed. When it was over he personally went over the post-care treatment with me and made sure I had no questions, and encouraged me to call if anything came up. Really great care. There's nothing better than a health care professional who will take the time to look you in the eyes, explain the situation, and listen to your concerns. The front office staff is equally responsive and helpful. If you have the unfortunate situation of needing dental implants, I would definitely recommend Dr. Yamada. read more

I have recently had three implants performed by Dr. Tanpattana. The first was a canine tooth that had broken and been extracted by Dr. Tanpattana. I had already had four other tooth extractions for broken teeth without having any implants done. I had been very weary of doing implants for fear of infection, pain, etc. But the loss of a front tooth finally forced me to go forward with an implant. I had selected Dr. Tanpattana because she had done such an excellent job in three previous tooth extractions, and because I really appreciated her chair-side manner, cheery, fun, caring, and very cognizant of keeping pain to a minimum. When I arrived for the first post implant, I literally was shaking. Dr. Tanpattana discussed the process with me in soothing words, and a gentle approach that helped to calm me and press forward. Bottom line, the whole procedure was a totally painless, including after the local anesthetic had worn off. I do have a high pain threshold, but really there was no pain during and after. The post was implanted, and I came back four months later to review that it was ready for placement of a crown. The bone had solidified around the post and everything was as flawless as one could hope to have. After this first excellent experience, I decided to proceed to have two additional implants on molar locations. I also decided to have them done at the same visit. Again, the process was as smooth and pain free as the first procedure. I came back into two weeks to check on status of the implants, and everything is still perfect. I give Dr. Tanpattana the highest possible recommendation for both tooth extractions and implants. She is absolutely outstanding. read more

I really enjoy the doctors in this office. They're really friendly and thorough with their explanations on your dental needs. I've seen Dr. Ko, Dr. Yamada, and one other doctor. They work as a team and they all come in together to confer with you on their findings. They always see me in a timely manner. They give great take home kits. One note of caution: Be careful to pay attention to the billing. Even though I have insurance, there were a few billing mistakes, which were quickly corrected. The timing of billing between this office and my insurance was not in sync, which most likely caused the problem. You just may need to be more on top of billing here. read more

Truly one of the kindest, talented and best doctors I've met. As a result of limited availability due to Covid I had to wait several months for the appointment but it was so worth it. Unlike the previous doctor that proved "no confidence" who wanted to do full extractions and implants of two teeth Dr. Yamada helped to save one of my teeth. I am of the philosophy to save as many as possible using the least evasive procedures. I am also of the philosophy that you have to have full confidence in any doctor. During the surgical procedure Dr. Yamada and his staff, who is also wonderful and kind, made me feel comfortable throughout. Dr. Yamada treats the patient as if you are in his home, you feel welcome there, and at the end he personally walks you out. In my almost 20 years in LA I can only think of one other doctor that does that who I also hold in high regard. After the surgery he personally called to check up on me. When I say personally, not an assistant or administrator, rather he took time out of his busy day to call and make sure I was okay. Dr. Yamada pease keep doing what you are doing. I am currently finishing up the crown for the tooth you saved at a dentist recommended but as great as they are if I had to do dental work I would rather be there. Thanks for everything! read more

I saw Dr, Yamada last year for my first dental implant. The office and location are both welcoming, and everyone is professional and freindly. I normally have anxiety just getting my teeth clened, so you know what Dr, Yammada was in for! Dr. Yamada was absolutly brillant, I felt no pain with the shots, tooth extraction, bone grafting, screw torqued into my jawbone (no kidding they use a little hand torque wrench - like changing a sparkplug in your car - medieval if you ask me). Dr. Yamada actually teaches dental implant surgery to other dentists, personally I found that reassuring. But the thing that impressed me the most was Dr. Yamada's personality, it was like being reunited with your best friend from highschool, instant connection and complete trust. I actually looked forward to seeing him over the course of the treatment and almost felt a little loss when everything was over. If I ever need a dental implant again (I hope not) I would definitely return to Dr. Yamada, I highly recommend him. read more

Dr. Yamada always takes a look at your teeth after a cleaning to make sure everything is in tip top shape. Dr. Tanpattana is a gem! In terms of patient care, she was gentle, reassuring, informative, and thorough in every way during my procedure. She went the extra mile when I was out of town to phone in a prescription to a local pharmacy for an anti-biotic to give it a head start to head off a potential problem as a preventative measure. She also called me at home after every intervention to see how I was doing. In terms of professional care, she collaborated and conferred with my referring dentist as well as her colleagues to pin down and to confirm a somewhat tricky diagnosis. At every point in time, she took a conservative approach and made sure I understood my choices so I could make an informed decision. My surgery went very well with a positive outcome and rapid recovery. I cannot recommend her too highly. read more

Dr. Yamada was booked solid for weeks, so I saw Tanpattana instead. I found her to be less friendly and reassuring than I hope for in a dentist, but ultimately that was not my biggest concern. What I really care about is treatment. She recommended a complicated (and very expensive) plan that immediately sounded unnecessary to me. So I saw another very reputable Dr in Westwood, and he confirmed that the suggested surgery was unwarranted in his opinion. He was also a little shocked that it had been suggested and told me that in my situation, there was no need to be so aggressive. It all makes me wish I had been able to see Dr. Yamada in the first place and really glad that I got a second opinion. read more

This office is amazing except for the office manager Nancy. If you are trying to book an appointment, stay away from bookings with Nancy. I have been getting my teeth cleaned here for years now and every single appointment booked through Nancy has proven difficult or I found out on my appointment day that there were multiple earlier appointment times/days. Also, if you are a referral to this office for dental cleaning and not a gum speciality DO NOT SPEAK WITH NANCY. She has turned away 3 different referrals of mine claiming the office does not do dental cleanings and will only see patients with gum problems. I have only ever had cleanings done here, never any gum problems, implants, etc. For an office manager, her customer service skills are extremely lacking. If someone tells you they are only available Monday and Thursday midday for an appointment, why would you offer them a Tuesday at 9am??? Followed by scolding the client as if they were your child when they notice your mistake. Completely unprofessional and out of line. Unfortunately Serlena, who is the best front office associate I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with, is no longer there so I will not be scheduling my cleaning appointment. Annie in the front office is also amazing! Wish I had a direct line to Annie to bypass Nancy. Today was my final straw with Nancy and would now like to go to a new office for cleanings. read more

I was referred to Dr. Tanpattana in Dr. Yamada's office by my dentist who was shocked at the condition of my gums. A full set of x-rays was sent to Dr. T and she did a thorough examination of my mouth. She recommended a conservative approach to treatment that was fine with me. I had a deep cleaning (scaling) of all four quadrants of my mouth and Dr. T is continuing to monitor me. My mouth has really improved. Throughout Dr. Tanpattana has been superb. She is very knowledgeable and diligent in her practice. Perhaps of equal importance, she is kind, caring and gentle. Dr. T will spend whatever time necessary to explain what is happening and what you need to do to maintain a healthy mouth. Dr. Tanpattana was the only dentist ever to call me the evening following a visit to make sure I was OK. I was very surprised at SD.'s review. I don't know how one could do any better than Dr. Tanpattana and I have known a lot of dentists. read more

Todd Yamada is completely unprofessional. Meg his dental hygentist was shaking like a leaf when she attempted to inject my gums for a deep cleaning. I advised her that I could not have her inject me since she was shaking and that I was "not up for that." She said she would have Dr. Yamada perform the injection. A minute later, he comes into the office and advises me "that I can leave" because his hygienist is one of the "best in the state." Rude and arrogant beyond belief. I only went to Dr. Yamada because my dentist stated he does his own deep cleanings. He does not. His "shaky hands" hygentist performs the quadrant cleanings at $280.00 a quadrant. I would not recommend this office to anyone-run, and run fast! read more

Of all the periodontists I have ever visited, Dr. June Tampatana is my favorite, for so many reasons. A) She is so gentle that there is virtually no discomfort during or after my teeth scaling. B) The surgeries she performed, at least two bone grafts, were pretty easy and have lasted years. C) She is considerate and very nice and lets you take your time during the procedures; she is fine with it when you need a break, for example. Of course, I don't put going to the periodontist on my super-fun list, but going to Dr. Tampatana makes it a lot more pleasant. I recommend Dr. "T" wholeheartedly. :) read more
