My husband and I wandered around the Yale Campus for a few hours when we were visiting New Haven for a day over the Fourth of July weekend, and the campus is beautiful. It has some very striking neo-Gothic buildings which hearken back to 13th century Venice and some very famous buildings: Yale Center for British Art (designed by Louis Kahn), the Old Art Gallery (the oldest college art museum in America), the Morse and Ezra Stiles Colleges (designed by Eero Saarinen), the Sterling Memorial Library, the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library, Ingalls Rink (designed by Eero Saarinen), Harnkess Tower... There is some truly incredible architecture on this campus, and you can enter a lot of it as a visitor to campus (we went in the Yale Center for British Art and the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library). However, some of the campus was closed/locked (at least when we visited in the late afternoon/early evening on a Saturday in July). I'd love to take an architecture tour of the campus the next time I'm in New Haven, because it is a pretty incredible campus for architecture and design. Worth a visit for sure! read more
