I've spent more time on the phone with Customer Support than I ever expected. I want to be clear that my frustration is not with the representatives themselves. I worked in customer service for over 10 years, handling 65+ calls a day, so I understand they're limited by the information and authority they're given. However, they should be equipped with more than the standard response of, "I'll send a message to the local office." After hearing that over and over, it becomes clear there's a breakdown in communication between Customer Support and the local office. The biggest issue is the constant missed pickups in Newark. I lived in Fremont my entire life and never experienced recurring missed collections. Since moving here, it feels like missed pickups have become the norm rather than the exception. What's even more frustrating are the reasons I'm given. For example, I was told my trash wasn't collected because there was a basketball hoop blocking access. That would make sense--if I actually had a basketball hoop. My kids play baseball and soccer, and there has never been a basketball hoop in front of my home. The driver took the time to get out of the truck, leave a note on my bin, and drive away without collecting the trash. Honestly, it seems like more effort went into writing the note than simply servicing the bins. I understand delays happen. If a route is running several hours behind, that's understandable. But if pickups aren't going to happen that day, customers should be notified. What's even more confusing is when one bin is reported as delayed, but the other bins on the same route are also missed without explanation. Then, when Customer Support is contacted, they only see one missed pickup in their system. That points to a communication problem somewhere between the drivers, dispatch, and the local office. Republic Services needs to do better. Improve communication between your drivers, dispatch, local office, and Customer Support. Give your representatives the tools and information they need to actually help customers instead of repeatedly saying they'll "send a message." Most importantly, hold your local operations accountable for providing reliable service. I don't enjoy writing negative reviews, but after experiencing the same issues repeatedly, I felt it was important to share my experience in hopes that meaningful improvements are made.

If that was actually a safety policy, one of the employees could have easily told me before I started unloading instead of waiting until I was finished. When I was told I had to wait in my car, I simply walked over to my vehicle, and the owner continued insulting me by calling me a "dick" as I left. Customer service and basic professionalism were completely absent. There are plenty of other recycling businesses that treat their customers with respect.
