Please save yourself time and AVOID this dentist at all costs. He does not have your best interest in mind and is only looking for ways to make extra money off of you.
If I could give him 0 stars, I would. Keep in mind, I am not typically someone who goes around writing bad reviews. In January 2022, I came in looking for a dental implant (which my regular dentist does not perform) and right off the bat, I asked Dr. Mu what the TOTAL cost would be for the ENTIRE procedure. He went on to reassure my family and I that it would x amount. He wrote that x amount in my patient record file. He was unclear with the procedure plans right from the start and would change his treatment plan as the process went on to add extra steps. He did end up completing a bone grafting procedure for me, which went relatively well, so I will give him credit for that.
But before the bone grafting procedure, he mentioned that I had 5 cavities that needed filling and should get a teeth cleaning done. So I had cleaning done at his office and had 1 filling done. I then went back to my regular dentist a few days later (who I have been going to for more than 10 years now so he knows my dental history well) and asked him about my supposed 4 more cavities that needed fillings. He said that from x-rays and his examination, he only spotted 1 cavity that needed to be filled, between two molars, which was NOT any of the 4 "cavities" that Dr. Mu pointed out. What was even more absurd was that my regular dentist mentioned that I was due for another teeth cleaning. I told him that I had cleaning done with Dr. Mu a few days prior, but my dentist only raised his eyebrows and pointed to the many spots Dr. Mu missed on my x-ray. I went on to schedule ANOTHER teeth cleaning done with my regular dentist. After bone grafting and the other procedures done with Dr. Mu, I had paid him about 1/3 of the total x amount he told me at the very beginning of the treatment plan. I was told that I needed to wait a few more months for the bone grafting part to heal before proceeding to the actual implant surgery.
Fast forward to May 2022, my bone grafting has healed and is ready for the actual implant surgery. I paid him a visit a few days ago inquiring about the implant and the total cost for the remainder of my treatment. At today's visit, he just took two x-rays which costed y amount, then proceeded to tell me that the remainder of my treatment plan is x amount (which I paid 1/3 of already back in January and then paid another y amount for the x-rays), saying that all the procedures back in January did not count towards that TOTAL cost he told me during my first visit. I'm starting to think that this man does not understand the definition of "total." He proceeded to mention a bunch of extra steps that would be necessary in my treatment plan that he did not tell me before, and even said I was "lucky" because he was doing a "promotion" which would offer me a "discount."
That last visit was the absolute last straw for my family and I. He is a horrible dentist who takes advantage of his patients. I recently went to another dentist for a dental implant consultation, and the entire process was much smoother. They took the time to explain to me every step of my procedure and laid out all the costs for every single step of my treatment plan and emailed it to me (a huge contrast to what Dr. Mu did). Believe me, if I didn't have such a horrible experience with Dr. Mu, I would not be taking so much time out of my day to write out this review to warn future patients of him.
