My wife and I went here when she bought some groupon that saves us a dollars of some churros. We did not know it was only a dollar but that's fine, not a big deal. She wanted some churros bad anyways. We ordered all the flavor and ti took a few mins for it to come out. It did come out very nice and hot and tasted great. Was in there last night with my wife, after we rode the 606. Amazing. Great, friendly service. Amazingly fresh and delicious Xurros, we got vanilla and chocolate. AND they're only $1.69! I'm so lucky to have this place right next to my work. The churros are freshly made to order and super inexpensive. They have so many flavor options and specials on everyday of the week. One of the days of the week is Nutella filling, not sure which day exactly, but that alone is worth checking out. The menu here is very creative and quite expansive. They have coffee, milkshakes, ice cream sundaes, mini churros, funnel cakes, you name it. I've seen a few reviews complaining about the service, but I've never had an issue here. Waited so long to try this place! Drove by so many times and looks like a small whole in the wall place. Appealing because it's Churro specialist store! Wow!! Wish I tried sooner! I have yet to meet one person that will turn down a CHURRO. They are definitely an indulgence but I have weak will power and when I found out this location was here and I wouldn't have to drive all the way to Pilsen, I was in. I wish I could give two separate reviews one for the quality of food and the other for the service/upkeep of the place but I cant.. so I will just average it out to 3 overall.. The churros are fresh and delicious and I liked that they are not overly greasy nor were they overly sweet despite it being a sugar laden treat. I did not however like that when they filled the churros, it would not be filled from both ends so when I eating the churro towards the bottom there was a huge portion that was hole.. and nothing in there.. not a biggie but more like a slight annoyance... so for the Churros alone, Xocoatl is the BOMB.. However the service/experience was quite unpleasant. I went on a Sunday afternoon so they were a little busy and the place is a bit small, it being my first time going, I didn't realize it would not have a lot of places to sit down at. Its more of a take-out kind of place..the insde was also a bit stuffy.. Though I enjoyed smelling the aroma of churros.. it was a bit cramped and HOT. I am not usually the "snobby type" about less than fancy interiors but they really do need to work on their behind the counter view more so where the ice cream is kept because it just looked dreary and filthy.. same for the floors..tables..and general tidiness of the store.. which at least when I was there, was a bit dirty and unkept. There is no set line so there were people scattered all throughout the small store not sure who were the ones waiting for their orders and who were the ones waiting to place an order. The staff did not exactly make it any easier either. I think a ticket system would be handy more for days that it gets more crowded. There were only two young girls and one went to the back so one person was doing all the orders which included handling the cash register AND preparing the churros..funnel cakes.. drinks which probably is what made the service slower. I understand that it's not always super busy so you don't want to be overstaffed.. But they should definitely consider having more people on staff on days that it DOES get busier. Also.. some of their drinks.. such as the Aztec Iced option.. would be beneficial to the customer if they added a brief descriptions of what it is. Not everyone is familiar with the drink options and it would be helpful if they described what was actually in them. I will probably give them another try because churros really are my weak spot and they were good here but I would hope they take care of these other issues that sort of take away from enjoying the overall experience of visiting their establishment. read more

Stopped in here while walking the neighborhood for a drink to go. The place looks clean enough and the treats looked ok. I had to wait a bit for someone to come out from the back and ordered the Mayan mocha and handed over the $3 for the cup. They definitely have a machine like you'd find in a 7-11... I only went here for one reason and one reason only...that reason was the freshly made churros. They will fry them up right as you wait, bathe them in cinnamon and then fill them with your choice of cream cheese, strawberry, regular cream or chocolate fillings. And having freshly made churros is probably one of the best mid afternoon treats in my opinion. They also seem to sell ice cream here and coffees but I didn't have any because I was zero'd in on the churros. So no comment on the coffee or ice cream...Also, the churros cost like $1.25 a piece which is pretty good but you can also get 6 for $6 which is even better. I actually live next-door to this establishment they have the best funnel cakes and Churros. I never tried their other flavors of ice cream because it looks like it's been sitting for a while but I do get the vanilla because it's the most used ice cream there because of the funnel cakes. Churros and other desserts are delicious BUT the ladies are rude and have poor customer service skills. I know churros are made fresh but the employees take their sweet time attending customers. Tried this for the first time about a week ago. I liked my boyfriends spice Mexican coffee better than my macchiato. It's different! The churros were good and freshly made. My only complaint is that when I got there the girl was stuffing churros with filling and saw me standing there for a few min with my boyfriend waiting. A family walks in after and when she finishes filling she turns around and looks past us and takes the other guys order! Hello I've been standing there 5 min clearly before anyone else. Almost positive this is the best churro place in town. The service was quick and the CHURROS had that perfect outer crunch and inner softness to them. It wasn't oily or greasy feeling at all. There was just enough sugar on the outside, and if you had them with icecream it's pure bliss. read more

I just passed by while riding my bike down Armitage. I could smell the Churros from the outside and I had to stop by just for some Churros. I told myself, I don't know it does smell good. You can pick between fillings (and they usually have daily specials) so make sure to see what your faves are. They very good, and warm but the service is something else I always go there and the girls were just rude they were giving us dirty looks and taking about us ignoring us and I asked one of them if the can kindly out chocolate on one side and strawberry on the other (since im allergic to chocolate) she ignored me and walked away. And then came at me saying I should have been more clear. The manager is very nice kind person but she has the wrong employees. After us two guys went in to ask for something and they're attitude change they were sweet and started flirting with them. Was it just because we were girls?
