I highly recommend stopping into this place for three reasons…read more One, you need a serotonin boost Two, you're a tourist and want something very New York and actually unique to the city that you won't really find anywhere else Three, you're a collector or thinking about getting into retro video games Video Games New York has been around forever and I really hope it stays that way for a long time. It honestly feels like one of the last spots in the city where you can walk in and see this huge, slightly chaotic collection of games and consoles all in one place. The Nintendo 64 section is probably my favorite part. They have so many different variations it's kind of nostalgic overload in the best way. And they've also started adding video game soundtrack vinyls which is really dope and fits the vibe perfectly. The staff is also super cool and really knowledgeable without being overbearing. Just don't go in only to browse. Try to grab something if you can, even if it's just one of the anime themed sodas or a small piece of merch. Places like this really feel like they deserve the support so they can stick around.

Everything is tightly packed and has a huge variety of selection. In the back corner there are some signed collectibles and a small case of highly valued video game history. --Service/Staff-- Staff was quick to help me in finding my selection. There are so much to look at in such a small space. They even talked about some of their suppliers which great to hear or not hear being a video game nerd myself. --Food/Products-- Walk to walk and every space is taken with video games. They have one of the largest PS Vita collection, PSP, new, used that I have ever seen. If you are looking for something. Chances are to look here first before trying to purchase it online --Capacity-- Since wall-to-wall video games. There can only be one person in each aisle since there is not enough room to walk past each other. I want to say. No more than 3-5 people can be in the store because of how tight it is. --Overall-- A great place to look for video games. Note some video games have been there for a while and might have some dust on them. I will swing by every time I am in NY.

**THIS IS THE ONLY (EVERYBODY HATES CHRIS) REVIEW YOU NEED TO READ FOR 2024 & BEYOND**…read more Let me just first say that i am a former employee of GS (another location - from 2023-2024) & the store mgr, Chris, for Knickerbocker & Graham ave (he has both stores) is the most unapproachable human being & there are many other GS employees (like my prior supervisor) who feel the same way about him. I went in to return a preowned game that i received in the mail & was immediately told that they go based of the purchase date - not delivery date. He then pretended to call his district mgr (there was no background noise - so i know he was lying) asking him the same question. Afterwards, i told him that he was wrong because i use to work for GS & i also spoke to customer service - they go based off the delivery date. He then snapped & said "ok, you can leave my store & call customer service for this, i dont need to help you". In most cases, a customer would be pretty upset & snap back, but i kept my cool, called customer service, they said they are going to let his DM know about his performance, & assist me in the best possible way with my return (which they did ASAP). & the cherry on top, he was greeting other customers afterwards, meanwhile he wasnt even greeting anyone for the entire time i was there, he was complaining about his stores metrics & how it doesnt make sense how they are ranked ~600 (which is terrible - especially for both stores). In all honesty, BOTH - GRAHAM STORE & KNICKERBOCKER SHOULD BE AVOIDED! Even all his employees that work under him are picking up from his bad habits (which is why they are all rude & dont want to help anyone). & yes, i've been to both stores many many times - this is exactly how they treat everyone that walks in. Take my advice with the largest grain of salt & you will not ever be disappointed. If you need to buy, sell, trade, return, exchange, pick up, AVOID THESE 2 LOCATIONS - YOU'VE BEEN WARNED!

The star of the…read moreshow would be the vintage NES, SNES, N64, and PSX games, all with very fair prices comparable to what you'd find being sold by independent sellers online, but with the trust of coming from a store, with everything thoroughly cleaned and functioning its best (I've never had to blow on a cartridge I bought from here, and every game has worked on the first try turning on the system). This place's game selection for these systems includes the best of the best, along with the rarer and more esoteric titles, and the inventory moves pretty quickly so there's always something new every few weeks. The guy running the place, Adrian, is extremely kind and courteous - he is always willing to answer questions and provide info, but he's never pushing to sell anything and it feels like a no-pressure, comfortable environment for taking your time to browse. I'd totally recommend Brooklyn Video Games to anyone who appreciates physical stores for retro games and accessories - two thumbs up!

The music was at the perfect volume and it was very small and cozy. The espresso is terrible imo but the pumpkin cake makes up for it. Scott Fitzgerald, or William S. Burroughs when I was in here. It made me want to be in a white button down with the sleeves rolled up, tucked into some pinstripe suit pants, with some trendy glasses on while I rip away at a typewriter between puffs of a cigarette. Instead I was in short shorts and a plain white T smh. Shelves of thoroughly used books engulf the walls, smooth jazz plays subtly in the background, as the young patrons of Bushwick have intimate conversations. A lot of passion in here. A lot of freedom. I got an americano because I'm beast, and the espresso was quality. I knew I was in good hands when one of the Bushwick creatives was making it. Not much else I need in this life than a cozy book store and good espresso... well a couple hundred million would be nice too. Ig @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov_reviews
