Canaan Car Wash - Dirt off of front end bumper

Canaan Car Wash

I am generally leery of the drive-up, automated car washes that seem to be popular out in the…read moreBerkshires and Western CT, but it is January and my car looks like it. Since I was driving down Route 7 and had just had a ridiculously-stupid experience at KCM Car Wash in Great Barrington, I figured I would try Canaan Car Wash and hope for the best. Glad I did. $7 for the regular wash, then add a dollar for each "extra" you want. I splurged for the $8 wash since the beloved car needed an undercarriage wash. I suppose the funny thing with the undercarriage wash is that it's the kind of add-on that you don't really know if you got it/how it worked, but you just feel better for getting it. This was a popular place today, and in 23 degree weather, people were even washing their own cars to save a few bucks (um, no thanks). Hours are 8:30 - 5 everyday with their late day being Thursday until 7PM; at first I thought these were awfully early hours to close, but homes are all around the car wash, so who wants to listen to the vacuums and hums of the machines at dinnertime? Most expensive wash was $10.

The vacuum's are pretty decent when it comes to a do-it-yourself clean. $1.00 for about 5 minutes…read more If there is someone working while you are there and the machines for cloths, scented car trees, window wipes etc aren't working they will come out and refill it for you. We were lucky enough to have a man give us one for free while he restocked, which was kind of him. The gentle touch and the touchless wash are great also. For just the general clean you are looking at about $11-$14 and to get the works it's $20. While it seems a little pricey my car looks great every time I leave here.

Hoffman Car Wash - Paid to have wheels/tires cleaned; not a good job in my opinion have had better cleaning for less money.

Here's a polished two-star review that keeps the tone fair and credible:…read more I was disappointed, especially for the nearly $50 I paid for the interior and exterior cleaning. They did a good job on the floor mats, but the rest of the vehicle was underwhelming. The interior and exterior just didn't look like they had received the level of attention I expected. There were still areas that looked untouched, and overall the car didn't have that "freshly cleaned" appearance. I've definitely received better results for less money at other car washes. If you're coming here, I'd recommend sticking with the basic exterior wash. In my experience, paying extra for the interior cleaning and other add-ons just wasn't worth the cost. This version is firm but measured, which tends to come across as more trustworthy in reviews.

I get the signature unlimited monthly service for $49.99 but when I go through it started saying Ultimate Unlimited. The price difference isn't crazy but it adds up over the course of a year AND, there is a difference in the treatments applied to my car during the wash that I wasn't getting. If the service isn't provided at each carwash then I feel my bill should be adjusted or at least the attendants should say so prior to my wash. I definitely feel cheated. I did contact customer service prior to me cancelling , they told me that I was probably seeing what the person behind me was getting on the screen. I was well aware of that possibility but to be 100% sure I kept going for another month and change and even had times I was the only one in line and still the same, PAY ATTENTION, I'm sure I can't be the only one. My washes were good, just wasn't getting what I paid for.

Instead of turning me back and telling me to contact the main office, the gentleman took care of me and let me get my car washed since I did have the bar code and was in the system. They didn't need to do that. When I called the main office, I left a message for Robin who seems to handle customer accounts and I'm sure myriad other tasks. I didn't know their hours and called right at closing time. i left a message explaining my issue and asked them to call me when they could next week. To my surprise, I got a call from Robin after their closing time. She wanted to make sure I was taken care of ASAP. They are a small business with old school values which include putting the customer first. seems like that should be obvious, but companies like Colonial Car wash are no longer the norm, but the exception. Money is tight right now like it is with most of us. However, even if Colonial Car wash didn't give me the best deal, I would still stay with them if the price was within reason. This is all due to the way they go the extra mile. Having been a captain in the Army, I can't help but notice little details about everything. Colonial must have a great training program and they also must be very proactive in ensuring quality control throughout the entire chain of command. I am not going to bad mouth any of their competition, but Colonial would have to raise their prices so that they were noticeably more expensive before I would even consider going somewhere else. I believe Robin said they have been in business for over 40 years so they run a smooth operation like a big business, but with a small business mentality and personal touch. Businesses like this are a dying breed, but it's great to discover a new one that is still old school.

They originally charged my card $12, so I thought they would adjust after and the amount would decrease. This was not the case!! The final charge was $22.60 for under 10 minutes of spraying water in the freezing cold. What a rip off!! I'm not cheap, that is crazy expensive and the math from hard money to card payment isn't aligned.
