I signed up to the 1 month special for $49 aud just to see what the ruckus was about and to try out a few types of classes and studios I had heard about (the ones that don't always offer free trial or are quite expensive for 1 off goes). The sign up step is easy and the team were helpful introducing the membership at the recent Yelp Rooftop event. So how does it work? You log in online (no app yet) and you can book up to 4 classes in the upcoming week. You can filter classes by type, time, location or intensity. So far I've tried 4 classes in 3 days and the classes are ones that are not offered at my local gym - Barre, Reformer pilates, Core + Hot pilates and I am trying another studio tonight. Sounds great right?! Well yes and no - there are conditions you see... -You can only go to 1 studio 3 x per month (including franchises) -If you don't show or you forget to cancel a class you have booked in you get punished (fair enough, it is taking other people's spots) -Some areas do not have a lot of classes but they seem to be expanding their offering all the time -You can cancel anytime by emailing them a few days before your next billing The website is fairly easy to use, I do wish they had an app to book and also a search function using a map would be handy too. Perhaps each member can also have a few strikes before being charged for a no show or late cancellation as emergencies do happen. The current monthly rate is $99 after your first month which is a bit high for me but I am enjoying the freedom of being able to go try new classes especially as I work in different areas during the week. It will be a tough decision though to jump to a dearer membership for my wallet but my mind and body are pretty happy having a wider selection of classes to fit around work!

I'd been to Barre Body in Melbourne and Perth, so I knew what to expect at this Sydney studio…read more I used my ClassPass membership to take Megan's barre tone class. Though the website says otherwise, socks were not required (I prefer barre in bare feet when it's done on wood floor as it is here). Barre Body bills this class as "...strong and dynamic." I'd say I found that to be true. If you've done Dailey Method, Pure Barre or Bar Method, you'll feel right at home. And if you've never done barre before but have done yoga and/or pilates, you'll do fine too. This is a small studio with no lobby so you probably don't want to rock up more than 10 minutes prior to class.

It's a serene environment to work out and it's nicely located to public transport for easy access. The classes themselves are varied, with different styles and intensities available depending on your ability and mood. Like my experiences in Melbourne, the teacher at my Surry Hills class was absolutely delightful and had a terrific way of leading the class and encouraging everyone.

It just seems barbaric to me. However, recently I found my calorie intake and level of exercise to be somewhat disproportionate. In the interest of not wanting to buy new pants, I sought out the gym that was the closest to where I live and that happened to be Anytime Fitness Glebe. Typically, a requirement for me when choosing a fitness facility is that they have a studio with daily cardio classes. Unfortunately, this isn't the case here. Nor do they have the pool / sauna combo that make some of its larger competitors stand out. The little gym has most everything else that you require, however, and if you also need to work out at 3am (God help you), this is also an option. Your swipe key will let you into the club as you might have already figured, anytime. There are 4 treadmills, 4 elliptical machines, 2 bikes and 2 rowing machines in their cardio section. They are all fitted with iPod hook ups and touch screen televisions. The "iron pumping!" section is filled with buff dudes in tank tops so I tend to steer clear, but it seems pretty well equip with machinery. In all, I don't suppose you would seek out Anytime Fitness if it weren't quite nearby your home or work, but if you must - this spunky little gym will get the trick done. Or should I say, provide the facility for you to do the doing.
