There is also a nice open indoor hall for rainy or hot days, as well as activities like Soccer Shots they offer. There is a healthy breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snack cooked each day by the school chef. The school is play based and focused on learning through play, which I think is perfect for this age. The teacher said he never talked, they rarely went outside and most of the day was spent sitting at a table doing table work. I searched high and low and just couldnt either find a place I liked or had openings. I called probably about 30 places and toured about 10. I came across an alt ed website and found Woodland Schoolhouse. It's run by a lovely woman named Nicole out of part of her home she has converted to be solely dedicated to school space. Words cannot express how thankful we are for Nicole and her teaching assistants. Under her care, I have watched my son find his voice. He loves school and loves Nicole. Some of the things I love about Woodland? Nicole's patience. At this age, so much of the learning is social interaction. She doesn't "deal with the kids", she gives the tools to deal with things on their own. What's the adage about give a man a fish, feed him for a meal...teach him to fish, he eats for life? I watch her patiently teach the kids to verbalize their thoughts and feelings and consequently how to respond to another's. I've watched her model and instruct these little people to have better communication skills than many grown adults I've known. We've frequently encountered another child upset or lashing out (in normal child like ways and not at school). My son has my son has learned to keep his cool and I often hear him telling his friends or family "it's ok, accidents happen." He has also learned to calmly and confidently tell others when he's not ok with things instead of getting upset or walked all over. I love that the kids spend so much time exploring outside. She encourages imagination and independence. My son is learning how capable he is of so many things both mentally and physically. I read somewhere that the core of a child's personality is set by the age of 5. With this in mind, I took it very seriously who I left my son with. I wanted someone who I felt could offset our weaknesses as parents to help develop a well rounded little person. Both my husband and I couldn't be happier and only wish we had found her sooner. We will be forever grateful for the time our son did spend at Woodland. While we are excited to see him enter kindergarten in the fall and having another son whom is 17, we know we will never have it as good as Woodland again.

My child was enrolled at Primrose Mueller for nearly 2.5 years. Under their first director, it was…read morean excellent school -- one we were proud to recommend. That changed about 18 months ago when they hired a new director. Since then, the school has lost 47 teachers in calendar year 2025 alone, and roughly the same number in the 7 months prior -- driven largely by her combative management style. You can verify their turnover history yourself at the Texas Health and Human Services website, particularly how it compares to COVID-era staffing. The instability has real consequences for children. I've personally walked into classrooms four separate times with ratios dramatically out of compliance -- one teacher to 20 kids. More seriously, a child was lost during a school event. These aren't minor complaints. The franchise owner, Christy Black, is largely inaccessible to parents raising concerns. She also owns the Easton Park location, which has faced similar -- if not worse -- issues, including an incident that resulted in a child being hospitalized. If you're evaluating childcare options, I can't recommend Primrose Mueller under its current leadership. Christy, you know what the problem is, and you know how to fix it. I hope you do, for the safety of every child in your care.

The teachers are wonderful and caring (most are mothers of children attending the program) and the curriculum is fun and engaging. The class size is small so each child gets the attention you would want them to have. Every time I dropped off my kids, they were each lovingly welcomed by their teacher. I always left feeling my kids were going to safe and that they were going to have fun. When I picked them up, this was always the case. The building is old but there are plans for improvements and upgrades. Please don't discount this program because of the site or location. It is a wonderful place for your children. We have since moved out of Austin and use our experience with St. Mark's as a standard while looking for a new preschool.

He is absolutely in love with Ms. Bonny and Ms. Suzanne (I'm sure he will miss them next year!) and always comes home with new words, phrases, a joyous smile - and ready for nap time :) The facilities are clean and there are lots of activities to keep him occupied (plus a really great playground out back). There are lots of opportunities to get involved if you want - monthly events for kids/parents, lectures from parenting experts, Mother's Day breakfast, etc. but these are also entirely optional. Like many of the parents, we are not part of the church or any religious community but have never felt that this was an issue in any way (as one other reviewer also noted). At the end of the year, we received a beautiful photo album with photos and artwork from throughout the year; it was so touching to know that they had collected these moments/memories with this final project in mind and I think is symbolic of how children and parents are treated here. I know my son is not only well taken care of but also cherished as a little human being and am so grateful for the wonderful staff who make him feel loved. I found the place thanks to Yelp and noticed there are not a lot of recent reviews so here I am - if you're lucky enough to get a spot here, don't hesitate to enroll!
